Been fishing for 5 days in a row with nothing, almost didn’t go today. I watched a bunch of your trout fishing tip videos last night & finally got my first rainbow, Yeeyee hell yeah brother . Thank you!
Finally A video straight to the point. Every second of this was worth watching. I watched another video about how to rig the bait with A single hook. I immediately knew there were some serious mistakes. Huge chance of not getting A hook set. Your video was literally perfect in every way. I've become very good at bass fishing, but live in upstate NY and desperately wanted more information about trout. Seems I've got it now. Thanks.
I use them on a standard Carolina rig. Cast out, let it sink to the bottom and twitch the rod tip every ten seconds and reel in a few feet every minute. That has worked for me at both North Fork Reservoir and Hagg Lake.
Too many comments about him not catching a fish during the video lol. If only the fish gods knew he was making a video. As we are all anglers here I’m sure everyone here would wish they could catch something every time they go out on a trip. Just appreciate the tips and setup shown here in the video and go out and be outside in the great outdoors catching your own fish. Thanks for the video.
I have to say, I've only just recently gotten in to fishing, and you guys hands down have the best channel on TH-cam! Suoer informative from novice level through to advanced anglers, species and location specific, everything. You've helped me go from hopeless tangles on my spinner reel to being able to have a fun day at the lake with my kids without spending all my time fighting with my gear, and given me the confidence to start teaching them how to fish as well. Thank you so much!
Great video. I have trolled Mouse tails behind Wedding ring type lures & they worked very well. I really like your videos because you guys are a Clean Class Act . Not dropping F- Bombs & other filth all the time in vids is rare & refreshing .. Keep up the good work. You guys are the best 😉 Thank you... Bob
@@michaelramsey2718 I call it "wedding bands", but they are kind of like spinners, but they have a little ring in the middle (just look it up it's hard to explain)
I've had a few questions as complete beginner with trout and every search has led to one of your videos. They're informative, clear and to the point. Subscribed & delighted to add you to my YT fishing world!
Growing up I hated fishing! I didn't have the patience for it. I skated and rode dirt bikes a lot. I would watch a skate video or a dirt bike video and get all pump to go ride or skate. Now im into fishing. When I watch your guys fishing videos, I get all pumped to go fishing 😂. Crazy.
Just wanted to say thanks! I just found this video and used the techniques you taught the other day. Went from being frustrated to limiting in about an hour. 😀
Thank you for the presentation! Very informative. I have had great success with Micetails fishing for planted trout in a lake - off shore. The water filled bobber works well too (a 2-3 foot adjusted boober stop).. My past experience worked well when using two mice baits to one #4 or #6 drop shot hook. I put the hook through the mice-heads... and the two waving tails successfully attracted trout.
Thanks for the tips Jordan I watch your videos a lot I went fishing out here on the Navajo reservation in Arizona and I took my kids fishing we all caught one trout each using ur tips and the mouse tails we caught 7 trout in 3 hours
Thanks! Love all of your videos - and the rest of the guys too. I tried a mouse tail a while back and didn’t have any luck. This video made me want to give them another shot!
Always enjoy the videos, here in NM we use the plastic bubbles with assorted pistol pete's. Not sure if you guys use them much, but they're fun to catch trout on. I do use the plastic worms but more of a bottom presentation, depending on what the structure is. Thanks for a the info and great videos. Very informative! Go fish!!
I've been having great success with the bobber with powerworrm on a jighead setup. Fun to be actively fishing with one rod and setting the second either off the bottom or similar to the first set up on this video.
I catch tons of Crappie with the white/bubblegum mouse tails, not to mention all kinds of pan fish and even a bass or two. Lots of fun to fish with. I rig them just like you said , with or without a bobber.
Thanks for this video. I recently was at a local lake that stock trout during cold months here in SC. I have caught trout here before. My last trip there I placed everything I had in my arsenal in there faces. They were in different areas. You could see them at times. The only thing I didn't have was mice tails. I will definitely buy and try some next time I go. Maybe that was the bait I was missing to offer something different due to fishing pressure.
How's it going man??? I live in Upstate South Carolina. Been fishing upper and middle Saluda River, little Eastatoe River, and surrounding area. Well, saw you are a neighbor and wanted to say hello. Have a good one, and good luck fishing.
Interesting for sure! The first set up you showed is almost identical to the way I fish these things. Except I don’t have a bobber and I’ll wacky rig the mouse tail on the hook. I fish it with an 1/8 to 1/4 oz weight on the bottom and watch my rod tip to detect the bit. Honestly I’ve never had much luck with bobber fishing but I’m definitely gonna try rigging the mouse tail on the hook how you did it. Maybe it’ll prevent the trout from swallowing the entire worm as much.
They will not float a size 2 hook, I use a size 10. With a split shot about 18" up and slowly reel in with a constant light bounce to the rod tip. It is a killer set up in ponds and lakes. Adjust the slit shots until u find the bite!
With the jig head I’ve found threading straight through the “egg” doesn’t leave much purchase for the hook and you miss more fish. Try offsetting the hook on the egg. Or better yet, I remove most of the egg just leaving a bit of color, thread the worm on the jig head, lose the water bobber and twitch the jig. Money!
Haven’t ever used mouse tails; do you can other species with them as well(not many trout in NE Texas!) Also, when using a ‘water bobber’, I always put the large end of the stem down so a hard cast won’t accidentally dislodge it. Another great vid! Thanks!
Would really like to see you rigging a bottom rig. Like Carolina style with a floating bait or better yet with a shrimp bait and a floater at the bottom. It worked nicely for me with a floating powerbait but that floating shrimp (floater between shrimp and swivel) is a nasty one to pull off
Just moved on the western slope of Colorado and would like to start fishing. On your videos you mentioned water deepth. How do you find out the water deepth from the shore when it is the first time you fish a body of water? Thank you for your vidéo I am learning a lot and I am impatient for spring to try fishing for the first time.
I have a pack of them sitting in my tackle box for about two summers now, but haven’t used them yet. I remember I bought them because I thought, if I was a fish I’d eat them haha
If you use the clear bubble you fill with water, make sure the larger diameter end goes towards your bait and put your toothpick in from the bait side. Otherwise in a few casts the bobber will come off the center post and drain the water out.
Awesome vid. You went past the rig setup too fast for me. What bobber stop are you using? And is that float the type that you can fill partially or fully with water?
I just watched the video and did it 3 times just to make sure before commenting. There's a major flaw on your first rig. What's the name of the lure? It's "PowerBait *Floating* Mice Tail". now, your setup has a weight above the lure and there's a significant length of line over that. So you'll end up with a "V-shaped rig" since the lure is "floating". What you can do is use what I call a "reversed drop-shot". You set a regular drop-shot then add a floater above. This way your lure will be at a constant depth from the surface instead of from the bottom.
put ProCure Super gel on micetails, we use krill/shrimp in WI. colors are white/pink, chartreuse/orange. best spawn sac color is, orange eggs, chartreuse netting. in WI
I caught my personal best rainbow trout on a white salmon and pink mouse tail. 18 1/2 inches, 2 lbs. 11 oz. it broke my line when I got it on the bank. So cool
I'm stalking some big browns in. This ultra clear water tried trout magnets didn't work what you think about using a worm threaded on my hook and float it past them hard to sneak up on them cause of ground has huge wholes that go into water into holes wh e re it's mud that sticks to my waders this is in fort klamath crooked creek these fish bigger the 25 in would love to get one
The mouse is killer. I will also run it fly line, with just wnough weight for it to sink (often the swivel will be plenty) and let it slowly fall. Once it is down a bit i twitch is back slowly...killer when fish are in the top 15ft.
Do not discount these on streams for large oregon wild cutthroat also. Thread just the bead head part of the mice tail onto a size 4 or maybe size 6 octopus hook (I can't remember what size I use). I fill my entire reel with 4-6 pound fluorocarbon and never bother with leaders for this type of trout fishing. Eliminates failure points such as knots and swivels as well as cuts through the water well. Add just enough splitshot about 16 inches above the hook that you can free drift this offering through all types of water on the stream. I use 1 medium sized splitshot and can normally drift through the slower and faster water effctively. Sorry if this doesn't make much sense. But I find this highly productive and have had 50 plus fish in a day on the water with this method. Especially with the brown and red one in clear dropping water in mid to late spring.

Don't follow this one. Wrong way to fish mouse tails.
@@jasontherion69 lol the right way to fish any rig is how you are catching fish with it.
Right....who the hell says you can only fish a lure one way? Do what works for YOU and builds up YOUR confidence in the bait.
