I just bought one too! Silverstone AP2. Almost the same exact story as yours, 100k miles, 2nd owner, meticulously maintained. Looks and feels like it recently left the factory. It’s such a special car.
Congratulations!! I'm on my 3rd S2k and hopefully will never have to part ways with this one!! The car is truly a legend, it's proof that you don't need tons of horsepower and torque to have a blast!! The engine, transmission and chassis deliver a driving experience that can only be matched by the likes of a GT3.
thanks man, really appreciate you watching the video as well. and the fact that you’re on your 3rd really speaks for itself 💪🏼 hope to keep this for as long as I’m alive haha, I don’t see Honda making anything quite like this again
@@onsite_nateI enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing your experience! And yes I couldn't agree more; Honda will not make anything like the S2k and previous gen NSX again; true legends!
Congrats and welcome to the S2000 family! I bought myself a stock 2007 silverstone S2K with 38,500 miles for my 30th birthday last year. Highly recommend installing wheel locks and kill-switch if you haven’t already. I also bought a stock 1993 del Sol Si M/T with 55,000 miles in late 2023. They make a great pair.
100%. I doubt they’re make simple, visceral cars like these in the future that isn’t Porsche 😅 had to get it. happy to see you still have yours as well
Nice video! That loose rattling top latch can be adjusted to tighten it up. Refer to the S2K forums for tips on how to do it. I have owned a 2001 S2K AP1 for 15 years with 118K miles on it and have only had to replace a bad rear wheel bearing in all that time. It has been incredibly reliable, and I drive it a lot. My redline is 9000 and it never fails to make me grin like a madman when I hit it. By the way, I'm 75 years old and it is by far the best car I have ever owned, and I will continue to drive it for as long as I can. Have many happy miles of fun in your beautiful S2K.
Such a fantastic sounding car!! I’m kinda in the same spot deciding if I want a Miata or an S2k, but man that sound with the top down is hard to beat!!!
The VTEC itself is such a different experience. I think I drove the Miata once and felt the revs were short, engine sounded a bit moaning. But it’s new and warranty 😭
I love your chill videos with Z but I really like this new vlog format. Congratulations on the new car, looking good, like straight from Gran Turismo game!
I searched for a clean black AP2 for years. Ended up with a clean low mileage sebring silver ap2. 7yrs and 60k miles later, I still look forward to driving it.
i was set on a black AP2 initially but the more I kept thinking about these id honestly take them in any oem color. congrats on still keeping yours around 🙏🏼
I hear a hint of that secondary output shaft bearing-noise with the top-up driving. Made a world of difference for usability personally after fixing it. With the top down its barley noticeable but drones mechanically with the top up. Just as a tipp if you suspect it makes more noise than you think it should with the top up that might be it
shoot I really appreciate this and will definitely look into it. i haven’t noticed it myself tbh, but I’m hoping it’s just the camera mount rattle you’re hearing? nonetheless thank you for bringing this up 🙏🏼
Just search the term of “gearwhine” or similar and compare 😊 it’s actually supposed to be pretty civilized inside with the top up and conversations / listening to music shouldn’t be a problem. But yes it might be the mic in the camera picking up things that are not present. Hope you’re satisfied with the car 😊 just got mine out of storage and I had almost forgotten how much I actually like it 🙏
Congrats, man. The S2K is one of my dream cars as well for pretty much the same reasons you listed. The analog feel you get from the responsiveness of the throttle to the feedback from the steering wheel is just something that's hard to come by in modern cars. It's practically a meme at this point but they truly don't (and can't) make sports cars like they used to. I ended up upgrading to a GR86 last year since it checked most of my boxes and it also had to be my one car to do it all (which unfortunately disqualified the S2K). Though, If I could own 3 or even just 2 cars at once then I'd definitely include the S2K in my fleet.
thanks man, appreciate you going through the video as well. definitely an experience that can’t be recreated with newer cars. I love the 86 for what it is and just glad Toyota/Subaru continue to keep these simple sports cars alive 🙏🏼 definitely made the right choice as a fun daily
Bought my ap2 in Grand Prix white with red interior a year ago and absolutely love it. It’s a street legal gokart. Lol not fast at all but so much fun to drive. Put a js racing exhaust on it and love it.
Awesome video!!! I just picked up a 2001 Honda S2000 as well. Only driven it home and it's been in the garage. Also, have the 2021 WRX STI Limited as my garage queen with 2,200 miles. Looking forward to more videos.
got mine 6 months ago... I've been having a lot of fun with it to the point where I just don't pay attention to anything else but the road and the driving experience.
shoot. I’ve had mine for barely over a month now and every day I miss driving it, then when I’m hitting vtec going barely over 50 it’s gives me the dumbest smile. glad the honeymoon is still lasting for you 💪🏼
Nice vid and ride bro 🔥 i also recently bought an 05 ap2 berlina black. One thing i found hard imo is which exhaust to get some have to much rasp then the others are to “oem plus” sound lol
appreciate it man, glad you enjoyed 🙏🏼 congrats on your s2000 also! and yeah it’s tough, I’ve heard Tanabe Medallion is the gold standard so I’d look into those
Just picked an AP2 as well and also am vegas. I knew it looked familiar based on the mountain view from the garage roof as well as driving on the roads along the 215. Lol
This car was clearly for US Import, not JDM. JDM = Japanese Domestic Market = right hand drive. Honda did a great job with these cars. The level of rigidity in a roadster chassis at the time of its introduction was quite remarkable. To fully appreciate the capabilities of this car you really need to find some curves. It's a sports car so get it out to a backroad full of tight twisties or a local track and you'll be glad that you did.
@@onsite_nate Took ownership of my S2K in 2017 and have had plenty of fun with the car. I just don’t enjoy seeing ignorance spread. If you want to have some real fun in your life, get that S2K to some twisty roads. That's where these cars shine.
I really want the AP1's 9k revs but not how easily it crashes from what I heard. So when I do get one I'll go with the AP2 since it's the better car, while the AP1 is the better S2000.
Congrats! Just picked a low mileage ap1 and I'm 61yrs old. Love it!
heck yeah that’s so awesome 🤠 tells me that I’ll never grow out of this thing
Prove it 😂

If the car makes you excited & looking forward to drive, than you bought the correct car. I own an ap1 since 2017 and that feeling never fades.
i keep finding any random excuse to drive this thing, thought it was just the honeymoon phase. so good to hear

The Honda S2000 is a very special car. It's not the fastest but the chassis and handling, and the engine really stands out.

This engine was the basis for the K20Z3 in the 8th gen Civic Si

as a secondary car, you really can’t go wrong. I love these things

hard to come by forsure. and I’ll keep it healthy as long as I can

beautiful car
thank you sir
Never selling my Fg2 Civic Si Coupe.
FWD version of the S2000
I'm 54 🎉
Stock 'rev-hang' is BS!
Love it man, that’s how I felt with my DC5 Type S, FWD with a kseries motor is so good 👌🏼
Do you live in Vegas?
yup I do
sounds good? yeah, but no torque lol
nonexistent in these. teslas have plenty though 👌🏼
Who needs torque when you’re banging on gears
