  • The legend suspension on my Indian Scout has been an improvement to my riding experience amd feels great! That being said, it made wonder if it was worth the premium price tag and if the Indian Scout stock suspension was as bad as we thought it was.

    Really appreciate the honesty answer
    So many people trying to get money from a product so they are never honest .
    I agree that unless your riding long rides or taking canyon roads it's not worth it

    Does your front suspension make a clicking sound when hitting bumps or applying the front brake? You can also hear the click get worse when the bike is off (in a quite place) and you push the bike forward and hit the front brake hard.

      Thank you. My Harley has this noise out the gate from the Harley Dealer who installed the Aexo front suspension. I was told to put a thousand miles on the bike. I am at 700 miles and no change. If this front suspension stops making noise in 300 miles I will be very surprised.

      @@Valorcycle I love it! I rode it once and then tore it down to get ready for new wheels but first ride I really like it! Much better handling, and the horrible roads around here are much more bearable. It's way better on hard bumps, not harsh anymore and that was my main concern.

    well I think you did a nice review. you asked some questions so I will help. I have a Scout Bobber and over 2,500 miles on my L Axeos. First is the diving....it's gone. whenever you come to a stop with stock...you would dive into a stop unless you come to a very slow stop. diving around turns and corners....huge difference. you mentioned that. well that completely changed the handling which is what a shock like this is supposed to do. you would also scrape pegs far less. bigger bumps are soaked differently..... not necessarily better than stock and I think that's what has you questioning the price vs value. the stock shocks are very soft so unless you hit a big bump or pothole....it's a plush ride. which unless you're doing mountain Twisties with lots of bad roads in between....then I get your concerns. the shocks changed your handling in a variety of conditions and stopping capabilities. it's worth the price when you consider how much you gained.

      Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful reaponse! Others have also stated that going to 20W fork oil instead of the 10W makes a difference too. I'd be curious to see what differences that makes with stock, or if its negligible.

    Hey brother, I will say from experience that Indian has better stock suspension than HD. My 2017 Chieftain rides like a dream. I am currently changing my 2022 HD Ultra Limited to Legend because the stock suspension is trash. I am spending over $3k to get my HD to ride like my stock Chieftain. It is what it is. Stock Indian with the Fox air shock standard is just good overall. Now, the front forks in the Chieftain ride well, but the fork seals are trash so it’s probably best you did get the front forks done. Right around 15k to 20k is where the front fork seals start to leak in Indians for some reason. You will notice shaking at slow speeds when you use the front brake. Great review and I appreciate the honesty. Keep up the good content.

    You have some serious money into your scout. Now you must keep it forever because you’ll never get back what you put into it. I’m in the same boat with mine.

    What weight oil did you put into the shocks? One thing I've read is that just replacing the weight to something like a SAE 20 fok oil over the ATF used in the stock shocks will make a noticeable difference.

    • @Valorcycle
      @Valorcycle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 10W per their recommendations. Not sure what the implications/trade offs are for using higher weights.

      I wanted to be fair in case it was my ignorance/inexperience that was the reason. Didn't want to bash on something unjustifiably.
      I almost went with the Legend rear suspension as well back when I first got the scout, but opted not to because of price and the progressive 444 shocks had good reviews.

    Good review, Valor! I'm still keeping an eye out for rear shocks for the Super Chief. Though they work, they are soft and I fear carrying a passenger and hitting an Illinois pothole. Bye bye passenger!
