Good job on capturing everything. Some of it is gone already. It won't be long until this is erased. The sad thing is that these resorts were such a big thing back in the 1950's and 60'. They were all trying to out do each other. Day care, all meals included, dance halls, pools both inside and out, skating, skiing. Better than a cruise ship. They are all gone now. I had been to the Concord in the 1980's and they were starting to loose their shine then.
I have pictures of myself here as a kid. They had stockades we locked my mom up in and took pics. My father volunteered for the dunking chair. The cowboys had shoot-outs in the streets with loud guns. It was whole production and I LOVED IT! I'm a photographer and will definitely have to head up there for a day. Great video, guys!
Thanks alot! That cool that you got to experience the place when it was in Operation, since you got pictures of you here as a kid it would be interesting to do a before and now comparison if you you go back
Where you thought you got onto horses for a ride was actually where you board the stage coaches to go around d boot hill and then get robbed by bandits. My great grandfather built all the buildings in the frontier section where the church is. He even built the church. Just about every member of my family worked there from day one to the bitter end.
The building by the church was for loading the stage coaches, not horse rides. The first stables you showed were for the work horses that pulled the stage coaches and a few riding horses. All the rodeo horses were kept in pastures the cowboys riding horses were kept in the stables by the rodeo arena
I went there as a kid. Sad to see so many great places in New York deserted. This is what happens when go from being the empire state to the welfare state. Vote republican the state you save may be your own
Frontier Town met its demise due to changing demographics and sensibilities, not due to politics. But regardless, you've got to love that states and nations that have a robust public sector and supported tourism flourish, while in the US conservatives continually fight against anything publicly funded. Then when areas get deserted because of the lack of funding and support, they blame Democrats - Democratic policies are about the only thing that will keep rural areas flourishing. It's a shame that so many conservatives are so brainwashed - you'll never realize that those for which you vote are hurting you with their policies. I feel sorry for you...
@@johnjones393No one party can take any blame for what we see in so many US cities - a modicum of research shows that the combination of threats to life and liberty in the south and red-lining in the north created what we see now. It has been decades of intentional policy that created the problem. This is the structural racism that is discussed and yet often ignored. It took decades to create the situation and it will take a serious commitment and federal funding (along with time and patience) to fix it. One VERY important aspect of this is that all of us must look at the people of Detroit as our fellow citizens, fellow Americans. And our patriotism should make us WANT to support strong well-funded efforts to help solve the problem...
I was wondering, how and where do you specifically go to get into Frontier Town? I recently went off Exit 29, and they said the Frontier Town campground is actually not on the same property as the abandoned buildings. The A-frame building right off the exit is currently being renovated a restaurant and gift shop, so hopefully it means good things for North Hudson.
Excellent

My parents used to take my brother and me there, when we were kids. I had totally forgotten it had existed. Thanks for this post!

Went there back in the 70s when I was a kid awesome time back then 😊

Went there, as well as Ausable Caverns, North Pole, and Storybook land.
I used to go there as a kid with my parents. It was a Wild West themed park.
I used to live 2+ miles away down Blue Ridge Rd. Too bad you missed the Buffalo farm.
Same little area and structures jasko found during his randonautica video.
Quality wood could be salvaged!
So I guess instead of leaving a stone here to the classic adk tower one should fix something small before moving along. ?

@@NikonF5userBecause 50+ years of Democrat rule has done wonders for places like Detroit.

I believe it’s been renovated & is open now🙂
