  • Located in the Catskill mountains lies this abandoned resort dating back to 1901. We spent hours walking around this complex checking out what remains.

I performed there! It was magnificent! Great memories! These resorts were created for families to come and enjoy good times while stayin in America! The food was abundant and to die for! I can't believe they just let it go to this shamble. It was massive just like ALL the Catskill resorts! The people who came in and destroyed it have NO SOULS AND COULD NEVER HAVE ANY LOVE OR CLASS! Heartbreaking to see this!

Born and raised in Ellenville, NY. I used to work on the ski lift many years ago when the Nevele was alive. I also used to visit the falls on a hot summer day. When I was younger I used to go to the golf course and collect lost balls and sell then to the players for 25 cents each. Many were retrieved from the water. I fished the lake for Blue gill. The Nevele was established by eleven teachers from Ellenville, hence the name Nevele. I remember it being owned by a family of the name Slutsky, who also owned a lumber yard near Kossar place in the village. I haven't been back in many years and it's sad to see the resort in shape. I used to hang out in the Chalet like I lived in it. I drove the snow cat many times to groom the slope also. Thanks for this video!

It was owned by Orville and David Slutsky that owned Hunter Mountain been there a few times in early 2000s before Orville's death doing surveys on the equipment to see if it was Feasible to salvage any of it for use to ship to Chile where they owned another resort. The ellenville resort was never opened by them because of state they wouldn't allow it to open as a ski resort because of environment the typical NY antibusiness BS. We moved truck loads of stuff from Ellenville to Hunter it sat in containers in a field waiting to get shipped. I don't know if Ellenville got sound with Hunter after Orville's death or not

This hotel is across from the summer homes we rented. It was a decent looking place from my young memory. We go visit this hotel if my aunts family was there. The pool was nice and shuffleboard too.
This was a popular place in 1970s early 80s.
