I wouldn’t try eating an Indian turnip (Jack in the pulpit root bulb) if someone offers you a bite refuse it, you’ll be trying to pick stickers out of the inside of your mouth that aren’t there.

When I was growing up we went to the woods looking for mushrooms as well. Some were as big as dad's hand. They soaked them overnight in saltwater, they said that got any bugs out. Mom would slice them horizontally, roll them in seasoned flour and fry them. Oh they were good. They would also go pick poke, lambsquarter and curly dock. She boiled it twice, changing the water each time, then cook it in a skillet with bacon and bacon grease. That and a pan of cornbread was a very good supper. Sometimes she'd make steak we'd raised and butchered. We also ate wild onions and eggs as well as so much more. I've always said poor folks eat good! Enjoyed walking the woods with you, far better than a mall, amusement park, etc.. Stay safe and GOD bless

Very cool that you are making a channel in addition to your scrap channel. I personally am a great lover of nature and everything around it. Compliments to videos you make, but also to the way you put them online. That doesn't seem very easy to me either.

    What a FUN DAY, Silas!!
You ought to bring a separate bag with you and pick up those turtle shells you find... they're good sellers -- about $16-$20 each!
    Safe travels, friend ❤❤

When I was younger I used to go morel mushroom hunting around the fifteenth of April to about the first week in May, usually find around forty pounds in a season. I still remember after hunting these mushrooms the first or second day and trying to go to sleep that night I would see the pores of the mushrooms when I’d shut my eyes. I sure miss the time when I could do this and go frog gigging and quail hunting.

Thanks Silas! One of these day i'll get to try Morels, I could buy them but that would be cheating! You have to be careful what you eat, last weekend my mom went to a neighbors party and they had a buffet, turns out they like to forage and some of the food was covered in wild flowers/plants, well she doesn't know what she ate, but it's been coming out of both ends for a few days now!

    • @aliceevans3357
