    I was able to achieve 40.04 mpg in my 2016 altima sl over 700 miles with four people, two traffic jams, and head on gusty winds for around 200 miles...it's quite and very comfortable on long journey

      50.2 in my ‘18 Malibu.
      I’ve made a game of trying to beat that score.

    Just picked up a 2016 Alitma 2.5 S a month ago and although I do miss the getup the 06 G6 (GTP) had...this Altima is just such a nice ride. Glad I picked this up. A guy at a different dealership tried to get me to buy a '17 Malibu...but the Altima just has a better look and feel to it (and was also $3000 cheaper than the Malibu).

    This 1.5T should be a sport choice for the Cruze. So it could compete better with Sentra SRT, the new Elantra Sport and Honda Civic.

    Malibu wins hands down, a far superior interior to that of the Altima and Fusion, best in class connectivity and tech when compared to ford, nissans, and Toyota's offerings, better sound isolation when compared to Honda and fords offerings, and the Malibu is one of the lightest and largest entries in this segment especially when compared t the cramped fusion.

    • @BCJDM
      @BCJDM 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Malibu doesn't "win". The malibu looks ugly inside and out in my opinion. The interior is not better than Sonata or Optima. The only connectivity option that most the other cars dont have in the segment is 4g lte which most people dont care about at all. Not to mention the Chevy will most likely be way less reliable than any Japanese made sedan. The Accord and Camry are the best sellers for a reason.

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You may want to visit your connectivity comment again youre missing a few things. Also nissan is not known for reliability like honda or toyota. Nissan has lower reliability ratings than chevy from kbb, edmunds, and consumer reports. Interior wise with more soft touch points, more leather, and less hard plastics than whats found in the fusion and kia competition i have to question your comments regarding such.

    I'm a hard core GM guy but I would go with the Altima. Chevy hit a homerun with the 08 Malibu then took a step back with the 13 model with the legroom and now this.... Chevy made a good tecky car but just not eye appealing unless you get the higher trims...

    I have a Chevy Malibu but one on fire for no apparent reason while I was driving 20 miles an hour, I was treated very poorly by GM I went and bought a Nissan altimo . I don’t trust Chevy anymore and the way I was treated is disgraceful they were called bones in my book. I believe it was due to the stop Start ignition ,It is not normal for a car to burst into flames with only 18,000 miles on a Chevy sucks

    Totally disagree with this review. I'm starting to think that Autoguide are Chevy fanboys in disguise. The Malibu is a hideous looking vehicle compared to the Altima, just take a look at the rear of these new models in traffic, gross. Wonder why they didn't show any shots of this car from the rear. Also, the base interior in comparison to the Altima is night and day. Com'on, Chevy is known for cheap and unreliable cars, just take a look at the Sonic. There is no way on earth, the Malibu and it's lackluster turbo charged, base model engine beats the Altima.

    I drove the Altima for a week one thing I love about Nissan is the fact that smart key access and push button come standard even on the base s model. The steering is a little heavy and the seats are comfortable. for long trips though it's tolerable but starts to hurt after a while Now for the CVT it's true the transmission does suck no question about it however two things I like about it 1) Very little drone and it's great on fuel economy. 2) Sport mode is enough to get you on the highway it's just something I wouldn't leave the transmission in all the time. All in all both
    Cars are great just depends on which one you like better and what your personal needs are

      @LoneTaurus82 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just got a 2016 Altima SV. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm coming from a older 2000 Maxima SE. So to me it's quite a upgrade!! I admit the older automatic transmission ran a bit smoother on my old Maxima during its good years, but I do notice a difference with the CVT and it will take some getting used to. I do like the sports mode but like you mentioned I do feel its something not to use too much because of how the transmission tends to redline more between gears in that mode. Just hope I made a good investment with this car since I'm constantly reading mixed reviews of it.

    For me I like the side and back view of the Altima... I don’t like its interior. I like the front, side and back view of the Malibu along with the interior. But it’s just a matter of opinion.

    I did a test drive of the Malibu with the 1.5 turbo, and the motor was very buzzy sounding, and I did not care for the ride at all.

    Great Video! I would probably prefer the Malibu over the Altima. The Altima is beginning to look outdated and the interior styling is certainly on the conservative side. While in the Malibu, you have a much more style forward interior as well as a more stylistic exterior in my eyes. I am surprised that a engine with a smaller displacement and turbocharged gets worse fuel economy than a 2.5L Naturally Aspirated engine. It might be the difference in weight and possibly the transmission choice. Both vehicles deserve a look but, I would wait until Nissan fully redesigns the Altima. Keep up the great work AutoGuide!

      DriveAndBeDriven Last I checked the malibu is lightest in class with its base engine. So it can't be the weight difference, that makes the better fuel economy. Otherwise it would be the malibu with the higher mpg. It's the cvt that is making the altimas fuel economy go up.

    I own a 2010 and love it since new.
    I would love to buy a new one, but I hate the lights.
    It really needs to look like the 2017 Maxima lights , the LED.
    Even Civic have impressive led lights, ford, Hyundai, chevy and much more
    have way better lights.
    Lets see what happens in 2018 ?????

    The Malibu's interior was designed by high school kids overnight. Take off the malibu badge, nobody can tell what the hell it is. There is absolutely nothing "WOW" about the Malibu. The 2017 Malibu is priced at $34,000, are u fucking crazy. You can pay the same price for the Audi A3, Accord, Camry, BMW, Infiniti. Why the hell would you even buy a Malibu?

    I was looking at an Altima before eventually going with the Malibu. The interior of the Altima is just so boring and lacks creativity. Interior of the Malibu is what ultimately what made me choose that over the Altima. As far as body style I think the Altima wins that but the Malibu wins everything else

    I rented a 2016 Altima 2.5s for 3 days. I was not impressed with the driving dynamic. The ride was okay. The CVT sucked. I also owned a 2015 outback 3.6R. The CVT in the Outback is definitely better. Overall, I personally would not buy an Altima myself.

    • @occckid123
      @occckid123 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      why would you compare a 4 cyl to a 3.6 v6. your experiences in a v6 will be much better because of all the extra tq it has.

    • @TT-qs5jz
      @TT-qs5jz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      occckid123 , I am not comparing the torque or horsepower. Just felt like the CVT from the Altima was not delivering the horse power smoothly. I guess I just don't like CVT overall. I rather drive my old 2005 4 cylinder accord with 5 speed automatic then driving the new Altima.

    Malibu blows the Altima out of the water interior and tech wise. First off has Android Auto where Altima has nothing and a OLD style center display. Stock audio is also a MAJOR upgrade over the Altima unless you spend extra for their Bose upgrade and it's not worth it. The interior is old and boring like he stated, and has alot of basic features where the Malibu has more modern and better upgrades included in base model. I have a 2017 Malibu LT and my sister just got a 2017 Altima SV, the only thing I like about the Altima is blind spot sensors built in, but it's rear camera line does not move with wheels ( if I turn my steering wheel right the line bends right so I see more accurately where I'm going in reverse ) the Altima is a straight line and does not change which is a bug weakness because if you're reversing into a tight spot, that will not help guide you as good ( she nearly hit a pole that I never have a issue with since I can see the angle the car is going in )
