WretchedDrake You are right, Nissan is something "right" which is to sell them to Enterprise, Hertz, Dollar car rental companies. Take aside of fleet and rental cars, the Accord sedan is actually the best selling mid-size sedan in American.
Haha no they aren’t doing anything right! Their CVT transmissions are absolute pure garbage! I can say that because I had an Altima with this transmission. They fail and go out prematurely. Ever since Nissan merged with Renault in 2002 their quality has been going downhill. Nissan used to make solid cars. The only reason why they sell so well is that that have a cheap price for what you get.
Lol. I just bought one of these for my very first car. I love it and I was looking for more of a sporty sedan and this met my needs. But man you really bashed the car in this review:)
This guy is a little, lets say, expectationess, I just bought this car and cant wait to drive it, especially since I have been driving a 250k 1999 Honda Accord with no power steering, bad fuel economy, burnt oil smell in the cabin, clankity clank down the road for 6 years, I cant wait till Monday!!!!!!
Awesome car, 39 miles a gallon on the hwy, I can tell the transmission needs some TLC, I think I will have the oil changed, Excellent car with 1 weak spot ( that I know of) the transmission. hard to believe a car with 182 HP can get such good millage. especially the way I drive, LOL
I was surprised you complained about the key fob, It needs no changing, it's compact, functional and because every door and the trunk opens by sensing the key you rarely need to press the keys. I hope they don't redesign it.
interesting, I actually hated the fob. I thought it was very small and because all the buttons are the same look and feel I always had to look at it to use it
By that logic would you buy a new car today that started selling in 2002? (IIRC that key fob dates back to the early 2000's.) Nothing wrong with the vehicle, and it works, but looking at the competition, would you buy it?
+Zachary May The Accord has more personality than this, which is funny because it used to be that the Altima was on the sportier side of the family sedan market and the Accord split the Camry and Altima on dynamics. Now, it would seem Nissan has lost their way with the Altima.
Watch this video and hearing you beating the car down into as if it is garbage. People like you is why the prices goes up high because you complain and complain about it not being advance with the technologies. You need to keep in mind that some people don't care for high advance stuff like that because it only cost more money when it has to be repaired. Sometimes a car being basic is best! Less cost and less repairing. In my opinion I think Nissan Altima is perfect like it is! It saves gas and less expensive crap on it.
My sister has a 2016 Altima SL. It's pretty nice for a midsize family sedan. Not super flashy or anything. It doesn't over exceed expectations, but it does everything pretty well.
I've driven nearly all the Altima rivals. What it has over all of them is: 1. quieter cabin 2. relaxing ride 3. perfect seats 4 almost leading acceleration 5. value 6. competitive mbg Nissan needs a good designer very badly though.
I finally got mine. Can’t wait to know everything about it. Your review been a help to me, especially since this is my first time buying one. Thanks for the great work.
It's not that we have anything against Nissan, we'll be uploading the full review on the 2016 Maxima this week. That vehicle impressed us a lot. We know Nissan can do better, you just get a sense that they weren't trying as hard in the Altima.
I will say this. This class of car at the end of the day is to get you from point A to B. I remember my family having this as a rental car for a trip and we absolutely loved it because it did its job.
lots of complaints.. the OD button works great... This car does everything well. OBVIOUSLY if you want muscle car sound you would get a car that gives you that. No one, going to work 9 to 5, cares about your need for V6 sound. I drove it on the highway and that OD button was very good to have to smoke those frigging truck drivers. The sucker moved very well for a CVT trans. seats are very comfortable. especially when driving for hours on the HW.
I think I would’ve mentioned the transmission fluid has to be changed every 60,000 miles and you don’t need to drive it like a race car or that CVT is likely to mess up.
With regard to the "bland" interior and styling, these days with new cars and refreshes constantly coming out, there are a certain number of people, myself included, who really don't want all that tech and fancy crap. Think about it: all that stuff is nice, but it gets in the way of driving sometimes. I know people who have gotten seriously hurt in car crashes resulting from them being disgraced trying to control the volume of their radio on a touch screen! Like, really?!!! Some stuff should be kept traditional; knobs and buttons please. Also, all that tech is just more stuff thats eventually gonna break, and it also makes the car more expensive. Personally, I love cars because they can get me safely from point A to B and offer basic amenities (however I do love my backup camera). This is why the Camry and Corolla sell so well in this country and around the world. People like things basic. And they're also so reliable too! ;)
I have just recently bought it and I feel that it looks sharp on the outside, I love how it rides and how big it is. Very spacious and a gigantic trunk. It is great on gas, better than any car I’ve ever owned and I average about 36.3 mpg. But the inside bores me especially compared to my Civic and Corolla. At night time you cannot see any of your controls. The temperature setting are not lit up so if I’m wanting to gauge I have to use my phone light (unsafe). The shifter knob is not lit and I would prefer it to be just so I can visually see what gear I am in instead of having to look in between the steering wheel. Very nit picky things, but I think they could have spent more thought into fixing these things.
Instead of just calling the overdrive-off button "old school", how about actually providing info as to what that button does and how it affects the performance dynamics and fuel economy of the car? I've owned cars with an overdrive off function before, but many viewers of your video probably have not.
+HansDelbruck53 he already explained this trim level doesn't have paddle shifters or any method of controlling your "gear"; that's pretty self-explanatory to me.
The DISP button isn't exactly unnecessary. Now that's a button I do use a lot (not in this car, I have an Optima), sometimes I don't want that screen blaring in my face, especially at night.
I’m legitimately twisted! This is a basic sedan that does the job well. If you want to spend more money on more tech features but something else! The Altima is just good transportation that won’t go crazy on ya.
For those of you drab uninspired people out there (like me) on a budget, a used 2017 Nissan Altima with well under 20,000 miles can be had for as little as 12 grand. My bank account is very excited.
I kind of like the exterior look of the car. Nissan was going a bit crazy with goofy grills (Maxima) and swoopy designs. This is one of the few Nissans I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen in. I do agree that the interior could use some style.
Main thing for me is it has a NA engine so no turbo lag and good torque band. Also comparatively low repair rates. With all the new turbo charged cars they are nice until you don't keep up on oil changes, burn oil, and run the turbo dry.
I've seen and ready many reviews about the Altima's "zero gravity" seats. This is the only reviewer I've found to have a complaint about them. Every reviewer I have come across raved and were highly impressed with the seats. Overall this guy does a nice job with his reviews. I am in the market for a nice used car and the 2016 Altima is on my list.
Change I'm glad they made is the change from glossy piano black plastic on the radio and center to plain plastic. It scratched so easily. The change for the seats is also welcome, the seats in the previous years were lint and hair magnets. I've never had to lint roll a car seat until I had an Altima.
Anyone else think the '13-15 front end is better looking than this? That's the only reason why I chose to buy the '15 over this one, but I do like the rear end over mine. Old SV interior also looks better in my opinion.
I read a comment below and I can't wait for the review on the new Maxima! Honestly I am disappointed with the 2016 Altima because of the interior. It isn't bad, but if I'm looking at a 'refresh' or 'redesign' I don't want a half assed car where the interior is the same but the exterior is given a facelift. I'll look for a 2015 Altima fully loaded instead because of dealer incentives and rebates if I was looking at one. The fuel economy is stellar though, have to give Nissan that. Our 2014 Maxima gets 18-20mpg, pretty horrid if you think about it. Has maybe 300 miles to a tank if you really push it. Props to the 3.5L V6, haha.
Had 116k on my 16 when I traded it for a 22’ rogue. It still drove smooth as butter, just get the Cvt services done, let them warm up, and apply parking brake on hills.
Why would you need a phone button on the dash when it's right there at your finger tips on the wheel,Do you like to take your eyes off the road when your driving,
I had a 2007 Nissan Altima four cylinder and had 280,000 reliable miles on it just sold it for $2,000 and bought a 2017 Nissan Altima great car just routine service
+Redline Reviews thank god, you are the only one who will review it right! Even Saabkyle didn't quite get it right, you go into the RIGHT details without rambling.
Local dealership has a couple "2016 Altima 2.5 SV" for $15,000. Would that make it worth the price for this car? They're brand new, and was thinking of going and looking at one.
I had one in the late 90s. Most economical car without shop work, good on gas, comfortable. I've had besides older Honda Civic, those were reliable to.
Some people just hate Nissan for some reason... I have always loved Nissan.. on my second Altima.. now the 2016'.. Love it ! The styling, ride, transmission, interior.. base model has everything you want and nothing more... perfect car in my eyes.. great gas miles.. What is not to like?? This guy seems biased as F...
I am thinking about a Honda Civic, Nissan Altima for great gas and look or the new 4 cyl Mustang convertible for OK gas and more power plus fun. What one should I get?
Hey Sofyan I was just wondering if in the near future u could show us the Honda Accord sedan? I know you've done the coupe already but I was just wondering?
You speaking so fast and I cant gotcha you some times . I learn english new , and love cars , love your videos and love american cars . Thank you for video. :)
It's simple really. Rental companies typically replace their car every 2-3 years so when these cars hit the market, the resale value goes down because of supply and demand.
That is good because the Camry is ugly inside and real ugly on the outside. The cruise control knob sticking out of the steering wheel is one of the dumbest ideas I have seen in a while.
This car needs a better driver's seat. I felt so exhausted driving this car as a rental. The seat is not made for short people under 5'4". The cvt transmission is not that great either. Just too bad.
I have a 16 SR. Good power, once on the freeway the thing with the 2.5 can go! Just turning radius is horrendous. Thats it for my complaints. Very reliable
if Altima is not a good car than why there is so many Altima all over NYC. I see more Altima compare to its segment. Camry is known for Taxi here so am not counting that. Accords advantage the resale value, but not like before. My sister bought a used like new 2015 accord sport for 14800 cash with 18k mile. Same guy also selling a 2015 Altima SV for 14500 with 15k mile. First i thought Accord is lemon but both car offers car fax report plus manufacture warranty. I told her to get the Accord. But the price difference isn't that big. Later i realised that altima offered some pretty neat extra than Accord. Such as remote start, heated steering, push start plus no worry for door handle, trunk to unlock. Maybe those extra option getting people attention. Now the reliability matters also subjective. Driving behaviour is a big fact for any car. If you take care the maintainance stuf it gona last longer. I see you just under rate all nissan vehicle up to bottom. They aren't that bad
facts, I have the 2014 an I love it, and I'm coming from Honda, and I love it was more, my Honda didn't have as much features as my nissan, and everywhere I turn in Brooklyn I see one...this review is garbage
+yardygalkeepitreal he's one of those reviewers who wants all cars to have a v6 or v8 and a manual kinda guy if you know what I mean. Doesn't adapt to the new world
I rented a 2014-15 model of this car when I drove from Atlanta, GA to Jackson , TN last year for a family reunion, and it was horrible. That CVT transmission was awful and I hated it. The seats were just as bad especially driving for 6 hours round trip, and the ride quality was jankey at best. One of the worst new cars I ever driven in my life. The only things I remotely liked about the car was the push button start and the backup camera.
+Lord Maul3 I rented on for a 13 hour drive and felt the complete opposite, ride was smooth and the cvt was was silky smooth..... we were also blown away at how little fuel the car used...... loved the seats and there was ample interior room.
You know, you complain about this car having an interior that was hardly changed, but Honda did the same thing for 2016, changed the outside for the Accord (barely) and didn't change the interior at all. I drive an Altima as a daily driver, and it is the best car for me. It is not bland, as I put the 17" wheels from the SR on it in matte black, and murdered it out with the windows black, badges black, etc. I get compliments on it all the time, no one calls it bland, and I would buy the 2016 2.5 SR if I could afford it right now. You didn't really give this car a chance I feel.
I see nothing wrong with the interior either. I agree with your full statement....the altima looks good it's just inoffensive just like the camry and accord..and now the new sonata...I think he was kinda hard on this car
+dee k yes, this whole segment is about being inoffensive, that's the point. The Camry got a redesign on the outside but stayed almost identical on the inside too.
+Vikk 54 the camry also has a cheaper interior...the rear doors in the camry are of hard plastic unlike the altima which has soft touch plastics...and I know looks are subjective but I think most would agree that this refresh looks better inside and out than the camry does...and further more which car in this segment has redesigned their entire dash for a mid cycle refresh?...I honestly can't think of one at the moment..Guess they're not memorable either....and if you are a true car geek like I am u will see the differences...nissan did tweek the center stack a little bit...they also replaced the cloth trim with leather on the doors and center arm rest across the full altima lineup....maybe I should start reviewing cars lol
I agree completely. I was just saying that Sofyan was entirely too hard on this car considering some of his comments (bland, hasn't changed much) can be said for every single one of the cars in this class, and in my opinion besides the Honda Accord this is the best choice in the class, which is why it trails behind or gets ahead of the Accord as the best selling midsize sedan. Nissan gets so much hate that I don't understand. I own an Altima and love it. I wouldn't drive anything else. I get compliments all the time. I find myself defending Nissan a lot because they get so much hate.
+Vikk 54 exactly! I drive a 2012 maxima limited edition but have test driven the 2013 altima 2.5 SL and 2015 sentra SV..all very nice cars!...and the argument about the CVT is soooo tired I wish they would just let it go because if you are driving the car normally you don't even really notice it...I think reviewers forget that at the end of the day these are family sedans not 2 door sport coupes..if u want sporty get a BRZ...at least the altima does have simulated shift points..and honestly I would prefer traditional auto but a good CVT really isn't that bad to drive...also the proof is in the pudding...Honda is starting to convert over to CVT...accord and civic both have them...Corolla has a CVT and I would bet anything that the next camry will have one as well..and doesn't subaru put one in the legacy or something, but I digress...I love the interior of this car...I think it's elegant and looks high quality...why would they change that😕...the outside refresh is welcomed as well
The Altima has become so meh. The interior is cheap, it has been ranked as one of the least reliable entries in the segment and is boring. A Camry is a better choice; if you're going to be boring, at least be reliable.
Khalid Carrillo Oh certainly not, though they are both fighting for the award for that! It's just that the Altima is unreliable which is what makes it all the more disappointing since boring is usually reliable.
I don't know if you bought a car already, but it really depends on personal preference in some cases. I liked the way the Optima looked and the Accord as well as a few other vehicles, but I took the Altima (2013) over them all because it was perfect for me. Get the car you like the most if it's your own choice. Hope this helps narrow the searches for you if you're still searching.
I love the altima, they lack options on some of the lower trim levels for example, paddle shifters or a manual transmission for people who want to treat a sedan like a sports car. I love the CVT I own a 2007 Altima, and I would buy another Nissan with a CVT any-day.
The Altima is the second most sold midsize sedan behind Camry. They sell more than Accords. So obviously Nissan is doing something right
KayleUknow so like your iPhone?

I had a 2007 Nissan Altima four cylinder and had 280,000 reliable miles on it just sold it for $2,000 and bought a 2017 Nissan Altima great car just routine service
Do you still have the 2017? How has it been?
nice camera work... like the driving footage
I had a 2016 3.5 SL model for a rental for 3 days. Amazing car with that strong V6, but no Xenon Lights and no LED back lights.
+redlinereview do you have a review for the 2016 nissan maxima
Yup! That video is going up this coming week :)
+Redline Reviews Aboot time mate!
+cesar gonzalez dont him
+Redline Reviews thank god, you are the only one who will review it right! Even Saabkyle didn't quite get it right, you go into the RIGHT details without rambling.
+Vikk 54 exactly his reviews are the best
Just bought the same exact thing except in the red one! Loving it!!!!!
When will you do a review of the 2016 Honda Accord, can do a V6 touring sedan?
Local dealership has a couple "2016 Altima 2.5 SV" for $15,000. Would that make it worth the price for this car? They're brand new, and was thinking of going and looking at one.
Honda and Toyota, write this guy a check!
facts
I had one in the late 90s. Most economical car without shop work, good on gas, comfortable. I've had besides older Honda Civic, those were reliable to.
Altimas are nice. Little too big for me though.Reviewers kill me on driving dynamics. The damn car drives.Every car isn't a sports car.
Perfect review & great car.
Nearly the first comment .. I wonder if New Zealand will get the Altima and Maxima back, we're just left with the 2006 Maxima .. Nice review ;)
you just sound jaded about nissan.
this does appear to be a biased review!!
rear looks like either a Subaru legacy or a ford focus. and why do you care about the key fob it sits in your pocket.
i love nissan altima...o have a 2005 one and still in good condition....nothinh to repare at all
Some people just hate Nissan for some reason...
I rev up on the highway mostly. I use the city JUST to get on the highway. SHould I get this vehicle?
I wish you could balance the sound level of the music with the level that speak. Otherwise, love all your reviews!
Is the 2016 Nissan Altima any good? My parents are thinking about buying one when I start college
I'm liking the way this looks. You get a lot for the money with Nissan. I'm beyond happy with my '16 Civic Ex-T :)
hey redline which do you like better the 2014 maxima or this 2016 altima?
I like the new Altimas a lot but I do agree with you on the display button. It should be a phone button.
Hey Sofyan I was just wondering if in the near future u could show us the Honda Accord sedan? I know you've done the coupe already but I was just wondering?
It's on my list to film, just waiting for Honda to loan one to me.
-Sofyan
+Redline Reviews 2016 Lexus GS!!!
I also agree that the desplay button on the dash is necessary and it should be a phone button.
I drove this car during my Vegas trip through car rental. The acceleration felt quicker than my 2017 Camry.
M&M Andrew yeah it is the quickest i4 midsized sedan by far
I guess it'll be my first car by December!
You speaking so fast and I cant gotcha you some times . I learn english new , and love cars , love your videos and love american cars . Thank you for video. :)
Gurur Dağtekin your English is getting better
So what does the Maxima compete with? The Avalon?
they are comfy to ride in
This car would have so much more credibility if it wasn't so popular with damn rental companies. This is why I'll never buy a Nissan.
icantw8 what does the rental companies having anything to do with the most popular vehicle? How does it devalue this vehicle?
It's simple really. Rental companies typically replace their car every 2-3 years so when these cars hit the market, the resale value goes down because of supply and demand.
How many airbags in this car SV ?
This altima looks great. It does not look like a camry.
That is good because the Camry is ugly inside and real ugly on the outside. The cruise control knob sticking out of the steering wheel is one of the dumbest ideas I have seen in a while.
What is a Ds sport mode?
Would this be a good first car ? Any and all opinions are welcome lol
2008 Altima will still be the best Altima, this Altima is pretty sexy tho, especially the front fascia.
can you do a review of the Hyundai veloster, maybe the regular engine if possible. thanks.
I'll never understand reving a 4 cyl motor to red line.
Does this thing have heated mirrors I got a 2016 not long ago and can't figure out how to defrost foggy mirrors. For 2016 it should be standard
I think sv and above
This car needs a better driver's seat. I felt so exhausted driving this car as a rental. The seat is not made for short people under 5'4". The cvt transmission is not that great either. Just too bad.
I have a 16 SR. Good power, once on the freeway the thing with the 2.5 can go! Just turning radius is horrendous. Thats it for my complaints. Very reliable
When are you able to do Mercedes-Benc C class coupé?
if Altima is not a good car than why there is so many Altima all over NYC.
A Camry is a better choice; if you're going to be boring, at least be reliable.
lol k. Frontier and altima owner and no problems.
my sister has a 2014 camry and that interior feels and looks cheaper than the altima...you're reaching
+banstaman Camrys are sooo ugly...talk about lack of imagination....yuch!
+banstaman Altima is more bland than a Toyota? Haha says a lot.
Khalid Carrillo Oh certainly not, though they are both fighting for the award for that! It's just that the Altima is unreliable which is what makes it all the more disappointing since boring is usually reliable.
Nobody cares how the engine sounds these cars fly like hell fast! Like a v6
What kind of Altima is it
At least, it doesnt have a pair of fly's eyes like Accord.
I'm looking to buy a car is want to know what car is the best nissian altima mazda 6 kia optima hyundau sonata kia optima or chevy malibu
He nit picks every little detail it's honestly annoying
I love the altima, they lack options on some of the lower trim levels for example, paddle shifters or a manual transmission for people who want to treat a sedan like a sports car. I love the CVT I own a 2007 Altima, and I would buy another Nissan with a CVT any-day.
My 2018 has paddle shifters and a stiffer suspension but other than that, being an SR, it's not that much different from the S and SV trims.
Toyota lacks alot of technology too and make u pay over price
I have a Jaguar xe and I got this car as a rental when I got into an accident and I almost felt like trading. Lol
