Thanks for a great review. Just bought a 2016 SR 2.5 a few weeks ago. Very comfortable, great milage, and isn't too loud. I think I got it for a decent price at 15.5k out the door price for 34k miles. No accidents or anything
I'm not really interested in the Altima but wanted to say you provide one of the very best and thorough reviews of a vehicle I have seen. Keep up the good work.
Funny that the steering wheel looks like it's from a $100,000 car. And did I hear right that the V6 model goes from 0-60 in 5 secs??? isn't that sports car numbers???
Had one for a week. Very nice car. 4 cylinder had plenty of power. Quiet and solid construction. Nicely put together interior but a bit less rear seat knee room than Accord or Camry. Averaged 35.2 miles per gallon in over 300 miles of all kinds of driving.
Hi Alex, I agree with you regarding the Altima seats. I'm 5-10" with long legs and my 2010 Altima has the one most comfortable seats I've tried. The driving position, great telescoping steering wheel and visibility are the best in the class in my opinion. Roomy cabin as well. Thanks for the 1st class reviews!
Had a 2012 altima up until last year. Had an accident and lost her after she was totaled. I missed that car until I got a 2016. Looks different, but felt the same.
LIKE this review! Upon listening, I somehow felt like I was readying myself to go flying somewhere.. ...! .... Thank you for flying Alex Air ~ This is Captain Alex, we want to thank you for choosing us for your travel needs and once again, please keep all seatbacks in their upright position, seat-tables stowed in their upright position and any carry-ons stowed in either the footwell beneath you or the carriage above you as well. Once again remember as we taxi down the runway, please turn off all cell phones and any electronic devises you might have. Please fasten your seatbelts and lastly this is a non-smoking flight. Thank you for Flying Alex Air.
love how enjoyable the altima is. Amazing fuel economy with great normal to moderate acceleration. Love the low engine RPMs even going 80 on interstate. The fuel economy of this car really makes one question buying most compact cars other than price.
A genuine surprise. On paper the Altima is pretty lacklustre; old powertrains, a CVT and a no nonsense interior. I got a 2.5 S rental this week and I enjoy the car moreso than a Camry or Sonata. The steering has decent weight, unlike most Toyotas. The QR25DE engine is nothing special, but it does get amazing fuel economy, but the CVT is the surprise; takeoffs are smooth & un-intrusive, a far cry from the droning CVT used by Mitsubishi & Subaru. Overall I still wish for more tech & power, and perhaps something a bit smaller (the new Altima is gigantic compared to the last Altima my mother owned back in 1998). A Maxima perhaps?
Great review Alex.I disagree about the looks though. In the very beginning you said they refreshed it to look more like the other Nissan products and less like the Versa but I disagree. I think it looks more like the Versa now then last Gen. As always, keep up the good work.
The SR 3.5 model is sweet! I'm getting that one. I'd like to have the 2018 SL 3.5 which has the Bose and all the safety features (if I'm not mistaken) but $33K is more than I am willing to spend right now.
My Chevy needed more work than it was worth. So I bought a 2.5 SR in this inflated time. I’m still happy with my buy but I definitely over paid based on the economy. 15k left after a 5k down payment w/63k miles. That’s a deal for this environment but when I compare what it could’ve been I cry a little.
I just picked up a 16 2.5 SR today. Super nice drive!! Nice sounding motor and I think the CVT is really butter smooth! 47k on it in red. Was looking at same year Accord Sport and Camry SE, they are overpriced so I went to Nissan.
@@Goatonomics before buying this SR a Mazda dealer offered a 12 Altima 2.5 with sunroof and keyless 37k miles for 12,999. I had the chance to get it but that generation Altima was less fun to drive and the seats were not comfortable.
Alex, your reviews never cease to amaze me -- very well done. When you have a chance to review the Altima at home base, I would be interested in your comparison findings in regard to fuel efficiency. Other than hybrids, which midsize sedan has delivered for you the best overall fuel economy? Thanks.
I am a nissan fan, but when I test drive 2016 altima and accord..I would say accord is dammm good. they really did a awesome job on accord. cvt engine in accord is best less noise compared to nissan altima..
A CVT doesn't make any noise. You must mean the engine is quieter. That's usually just sound deadening material on the firewall. Honda must have piled it on.
Another well done review. I noticed that you rarely, if ever, mention whether a glove box is lit or dampened. While these features often accompany luxury vehicles, it would be nice to see when they're available on mid and entry level ones.
1) What happen to the rating system? 2) I still prefer your previous 3~2 screens setup for the driving footage (such as your video on the Sonata Hybrid or Lincoln MKC). Thank you.
Tim what's the difference between a fortune to 2014 Nissan Altima 2015 Nissan Altima in a 2016 Nissan Altima in a 2018 Nissan in a brand new 2019 Nissan Altima what's the different color from those cars right there.
Alex great job!... Your reviews are one of the best on the market in my opinion. Im looking to buy a new car , do you have the cabin noise decibel levels for the 2016 Accord in order to compared with the 2016 Altima?...
Did they make any change to the head rest for 2016? It was pushing too far ahead for the past few years. Last generation of Accord/Malibu also had this issue. But both fix the issue for the current generation. However, Altima didn't fix this issue when the current generation came out.
This is an awesome review Alex, as always! I would still pick the Honda Accord over this car because of the better style and much more refined interior and infotainment technology. Can you do a review of the 2016 Toyota Rav4? Thanks!
There is one question I'm wondering and that is where is the handbrake? Also for anyone asking for the rating system it's not here because he only had a few hours or minutes to drive the car. So wait for the his review version after his one week of driving it.
I am renting an Altima while my Avalon is in the shop. Is this steering normal? If you turn the wheel for a lane change or just a correction, it doesn't right itself, you actually have to turn it back or it will maintain the curve. I haven't experienced this since I rented a mid 80's Geo Metro.
I don't get your question. If u turn the wheel and don't turn it back, of course the cars gonna continue the curve. It's going to go in the direction you point the wheel, and if u don't change the direction of the wheel back, why should the car change direction then??????
A lot of time has passed but It's ok, I probably didn't explain it. When I asked my mechanic about it and he did understand, he thought there may have been a problem with the steering because normally the steering wheel, when let go of, will tend to right itself pretty quickly and not sit stuck in the same position when let go.
What a 2016 Nissan Altima has got a lot of room in it to tell me how much Roman God how many feature what's the engine look like how fast and how much power and still like that tell me everything about the Nissan Altima what's the difference between a 2014 and a 2015 Nissan Altima with the 2016 Nissan Altima what's the difference with all the same.

The CVT in the Accord has problems...The 7th and 8th gen. Accords had a much smoother and more intuitive 5 speed auto.
