    Cobb, I was messing around with my V3 AP for my 15 WRX and somehow I cleared out the default data log parameters by mistake. How do I return it to the point it was where it provided all the most imp fields when I view my logs. I have the screen broke down into 6 windows with the items I want to see when I am monitoring but how do I get the original datalog parameters that came default. Do I have to unmarry and then remarry for this?

    hi COBB, just a couple of question..
    1. do i really need to plug my accessport into a computer after i do the accessport install?
    2. is it important and recomended that I always update my accessport from the computer and then re-install it into my car?
    3. and does the accessport save my stock ecu into the computer? so if i accidently lose my accessport -- can I easily use my saved ecu from my computer and re-install it back into my car?
    thank you!

    • @cobbtuning
      @cobbtuning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically yes, if the car has a tune flashed to the ECU. Installing an Accessport will delete the previous tune. In some cases depending on what software was used and how it IDs. The Accessport can potentially save the previous tune as the "stock tune" meaning it would revert to that if the Accessport is uninstalled. But we cannot assume that and is not always true, so unles you have a backup, consider it likely that its gone.

    Lets say I have a tune, but need to revert back to the factory tune, once I revert back to factory on the car, is the factory tune still on the AP?? If I went BACK to the AP tune, would the AP need to re-download the factory tune?

    Let’s say I had a car that was previously tuned and still runs that same tune. If I plug a new accessport in it and let’s say I uninstall it, will it keep the turn I had on before or will it go back to factory tune?

    • @cobbtuning
      @cobbtuning  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      You won't be able to uninstall the Accessport as the first step. There are a few cases (old Subarus with tunes written with certain ways) where the Accessport may think what is there is your factory tune, save it, allow you to install, and then place that tune back on the ECU when you uninstall it, but it's not highly likely. The only way to know for sure is to attempt the install. If the Accessport tells you a previous tune is detected and will be overwritten if you install it, then that is what would happen and the tune would be lost. If not, it would save that file as your factory ECU data. Kyle@COBB

    When you uninstall the AP, does it reflash it to factory with a map that's on it or does it just revert it to the tune you had prior to installing it? My sti was dyno tuned before I bought it so I'm wondering if it'll go back to that tune or not.

      @@leland5519 bought a stage 2 2006 Subaru wrx last month (at the time I only thought it had a catback exhaust and a bigger Intercooler). Took it to my brother in laws mechanic and found out there was a stage 2 custom pro tune I guess that is still running on the ecu. If I get an access port would it get rid of the tune is has right now?

    • @leland5519
      @leland5519 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shinobu3817 To my knowledge yes. In order to just use the Accessport, you actually have to flash one of their maps onto the ecu which is going to replace that protune. Unfortunately you aren't able to just plug the Accessport in and start using it as a gauge cluster or diagnostic reader. It needs to be married to the car which reflashes the ecu and puts one of the OTS maps on it.
      If you knew who protuned it you can try to reach out to them and see how much it would cost to get the file over to you so you can load it onto the accessport, then marry the accessport to your ecu with that tune. However, if you don't know who tuned it and you want an Accessport, the only option is to retune the car. Whether that be a new protune or the ots map from cobb, you're current tune would go away until you unmarried the accessport from your ecu.

    • @joshuaserna
      @joshuaserna 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      snwboardr1987 when you uninstall your accessport it reflashes your ECU and it goes back to the exact factory tune it had before you installed your accessport. Which means indeed they will not know. Like I said before I do this every time I go into service. They don’t know and there’s no way of them knowing.

      How would they know that you are running Accessport? You don't need to connect it after you flashed with the Accessport right? Put the Accessport away and bring it back after your visit to the dealer?

    • @joshuaserna
      @joshuaserna 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Yi You’re partly right. Once you’ve flashed you don’t need the Accessport. However, when you take your car in to service they can plug into the vehicles OBDII port. If your car is running a tune they will see it, they’re systems are designed to detect tunes and recognize genuine “Subaru Factory Tune” this is why it’s so important to uninstall before going in. The car will reflash to the factory tune and when Subaru plugs in weather it be for diagnostics or just to make sure everything is well with your car nothing will flag. The process of uninstalling and reinstalling after every service is tedious but worth it. Once Subaru flags you for a tune they can note it on their national registry, this means that no matter what dealership you go to in the country they will see this and can refuse warranty service to you.

    • @cobbtuning
      @cobbtuning  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the confusion with the last reply. The likelihood of a tuner being willing to re-save an old map to a new Accessport serial number is very low. The best solution here would be to have the car re-tuned by a Protuner as installing your new Accessport onto the ECU will overwrite the existing tune without the ability to save it. - Marshall@COBB
