- This video shows Tim's "live" vocal range which means there is no studio recording. I think this version will help recognizing Tim's amazing singing skill more than ever.
Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers and one of the most favorite singers for me. He has 5-octave range and can sing earth shaking low notes to sweetly gorgeous high notes. Besides that, he has such a great voice. Every time I listen to his singing, I feel very comfortable and happy.

thank you for doing this. tim is my favorite singer and I always prefer him live. there is nothing like sitting in the audience and having your body vibrate when he hits those low notes but even more impressive is when he jumps straight from high to low or visa versa
Thanks for watching my video! I also love his singing voice and techniques, but unfortunately, Home Free hasn't visited my country yet so I haven't experienced Tim's lows and highs :c But I know it would be unforgettable moment if I went to their live!!

Great video all I have to say is that his growl range is Bflat 1, to A0, and his chest voice from G4 all the way down to F1. His note in the Sing Off version of "I want crazy" is actually a chest note. When he gets into that range he tends to switch between chest and growl. Both work great so that is okay. I just wanted to put that out there. I loved the video! Please make more!
TheJj0124 It was very hard decision to state those sing off low notes as “growl notes”. I used to support that those notes were chest, but after hearing it thousands of times, I started to think it's too smooth to be chest. But still I'm not sure about it…
Actually, his growl notes starts from B♭1, but he rarely sings it in growl and he usually starts growl at A1 so I didn't include growled B♭1. His low end of the growl is A0, but in live he's never sung below C1(as far as I searched…)

I used to think the F1 and F#1 on the sing off were growl notes but there is a big distinction between the sounds of those and the sounds of the times he does them in growl notes, ex. ending of Your man and the live growl F1 he did in this video.

Tim chest-fry everything below Bb1 live he has got I think down to G1 on recording in chest but live he chest-fry’s a lot

8:34 I think both the B1 and the A1 are fried (or at least chest-fry-mixed). If it was chest (which sounded similar in these lows) it would be more stable. You can hear that he struggles a bit keeping up that notes (not because they're too low, but not to flip into another different note).
Why do I know this? Because the same thing happens to me when I use fry (or C-F-M) in such "higher" low notes

Where are the clips when he does the subharmonics and hit the F#0 (If my memory still good) and he can hit E1 with chest voice (even though it's not a live concert, a vlog if my memory still good)
Daniel Rama The F♯0 in various live performances are all in fry register, so I didn't include this time. For the chest E1, I think you're talking about this video: th-cam.com/video/546661-MLlc/w-d-xo.html (0:45 marked) but as far as I checked, it's not an E1 but around A1-G♯1 in chest-fry mixed.

Daniel Rama Oh, yeah I know that! But it's not a live performance unfortunately, and the lowest note I found in live was a G1, so I was not able to add chest F♯1…

I’m happy with my Bb1 but I would just be ok if I can sing a clear B1
He barely has one note over me in chest range on the top and I'm a tenor in school. Oof, I'm disappointed in myself. I have more work.
I have a G1 chest might beat on the chest vs growl, but knowing, he just likes doing growl, E1-F1 is my chest limit before growl.
Zabalyro a tenor does not and can not get anywhere near an E1
@@matthewdockray9745 I'm not saying I am a Tenor, it's just I'm a Tenor at school since we have at most 15 Tenors out of our choir which contains 180-200 members. I was just able to do better vocally with a higher range than most people.
Zabalyro I’m still pretty sure a tenor doesn’t have a a G1, maybe you have your octaves confused?

Maddie Piercy nope the F#1 is growled. Mic close to the mouth and just a stronger growl than usual. Sound system buzzed a bit too. Definitely growl

Question for you all. Which video (here on TH-cam) best demonstrates Tim's vocal range in a single song? (Excluding compilation videos such as this one). I want to introduce my music instructor to the wonder that is Tim.
Vitaee13 I'd recommend songs from Tim's solo album. Some of his songs, he covers about 2.5 octaves in chest (For example, The Best That I Could Do: E♭2-G♯4, Land Of The Free: D2-G4, You're So Yesterday: D2-F♯4)
Actually that wasn't his lowest note at the end, he can hit B1 in the fishin in the dark and boondocks medley. Still an enjoyable video though

I don't think Tim can hit 0th octave in growl effortlessly, and you can tell it's higher compared to other notes lower than A1.(For example, G1 in 10:44 is lower than A1 in 9:20) so I decided to state as A1.
hayatropical you have a piano or an app showing notes? Check out study versions of Sold and Fishing in the dark. In live versions do the same.
Nicolas Cage I checked it with App tuner and piano. Every live versions of Sold! I checked are A1 while the studio version has a lot more darker tone. Although there is a debate whether lowest note of Sold! in studio version is A0 or A1. As for the boondocks low notes down to B0 are definetely real, but in live, he often stops at E♭1 and sometimes he goes down to C♯1.

It’s not chest. His lowest note is a C2 he can’t hit that note in chest.

Leonardo Fiedler he can not do Eb1 in chest. I assume you’re referring to the house party Eb1. It’s not chest. It’s most likely growled or at least mix between chest and fry with heavy editing. I’m not even sure tim is producing the note. Could be reverb added in post on Adam’s kick

He probably goes to A1 rather then A0 to avoid breaking the sound systems 😏
