      I'm a baritone too very similar to Chance, and yes he should easely hit G2. In studio maybe lower, or with some training go for the live performance to F# or even F. Lower than that is just change technique and smooth growl.

    Are you sure that the F1 at the Sing Off wasn't a growl? It's a live performance so for me that is reason enough to doubt that he just goes lower than any studio version of any other songs. Also, he adjusts his head to a position that produces a better growl, and you can hear the breathy growl sound when he starts it off.
    So, knowing my own growls, I think this is a growl, and thinking of the likelihood of a live F1 in chest (and how that would sound), I'm pretty sure that that's a growl :P

    He is only trained in singing his higher registers but he has a much lower tessitura than bass baritones and much darker timbre in his voice.
    I am also a Bass, but my highest note in mix is Bb4
    I can also hit D6 using my falsetto register
    My lowest chest-Fry note is Eb1
    But my tessitura is F#2-F3

    • @ThePi314Man
      @ThePi314Man 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheComedyne Depends on the person, really. While your voice will continue to deepen throughout your life, you only really have one voice change, and it's different for everyone. My brother's voice change happened basically overnight when he was 13, and would show it off by singing the low C in Elvira all the time. My voice change happened slowly over the course of about five years starting at 13. I wouldn't hit a low C until 16, and that was when i got a bunch of low notes out of nowhere to cement myself as a bass (my choir teacher refused to let me sing anything above the lowest bass voicing outside of solos in any group i was in).
      Basically, every voice is unique. The most important thing to know is that depth will come with time, and you'll just have to be a little patient.

    • @drewconleymusic
      @drewconleymusic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the advice, this really goes to show that the youtube comment section isn't entirely hate, i think my voice is more likely to change slowly as i find myself singing a semitone lower every few months, it's just been my aspiration to have a voice like Avi Kaplan or Tim Foust, i've never wanted to have a voice like Paul David Kenammer because that type of voice is so deep you stop being able to hear the notes but i'd like to be able to sing along to the bass part of all the home free songs without having to growl half the notes so pretty much A1 will do me just fine. I have plenty of time left though and i will be patient.

    • @drewconleymusic
      @drewconleymusic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cadencechung1350 Range isn't the be all end all when it comes to classification. It does weigh in but classification also takes into account timbre, weight, and tessitura. Rob's definitely not a baritone, although somewhat of a low tenor. Paul McCartney is an example of a tenor who could also hit some sick low notes-he goes down to A1 in chest, but is most definitely a tenor. Also I'm not sure Rob's C2 was chest. The Range Place doesn't have anything under Eb2 in Rob's thread, and they tend to be very accurate.

      You don't know anything about voice classification. I can hit a C5 modal voice, but that doesn't make me a tenor. My tessitura (C2-F#4), vocal weight, and color are that of a bass-baritone, just with a wide range. Range is the least important aspect/factor in your classification.
