    11:15 that‘s interesting. In other live versions of that song you can hear him making a transition to growl but here it looks like it‘s actually chest👀

    Tim is truly an amazing voice. His song “A Thousand Times” is quite possibly the most beautiful songs to grace my ears, I’d definitely recommend anyone check it out

    Thank you for this awesome video. I’m watching this again after listening through The Land of the Free album which is fantastic! So glad Home Free members took charge in several arrangements. I can’t wait to hear Brothers in Arms in future Home Free vocal range clips. 😱. And Adam Rupp sang on a few tracks so we have some Home Free 5 part harmonies, and his phenomenal beatboxing. Home Free thank you.

    So no one's surprised to hear those G4s, G#4s, A4s and that B4 from a True Bass? I mean he's a bass that can go lower than a bass, yet he's still able to sing at these notes, it's obviously easier for a Baritone or Tenor to sing these notes, but when I hear a bass singing these notes, I just can't help it but be astonished.

      @JaviaMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As a bass myself I gotta agree with you, I was getting excited tonight because I finally got a good sounding belted F#4 chest… then I got recommended this video and kicked down once more. It’s insane how clean his upper chest range is

    • @wALkEr-gd9ff
      @wALkEr-gd9ff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice but just want to say, technically we can't call Tim a true bass. He is just a Low Baritone with crazy bass range. His voice is too warm and not as dark as the true bass that can sound super loud C2 in theatre for everyone to hear. His baritone voice type makes his upper range like A4 and G#4 have quality to be possible.

    i think itd be fun to see what geoff's live range is, if u have the motivation to make a video like that, of course. it would finish the trilogy of avi, tim and geoff as the 3 major acapella basses, as well as put a cap on some questions i have about geoffs live range. ur vids on live range seem to have the most consistent assignment of registration when it comes to analyzing live notes as well

    6:55 is really nice, as is the off mic B1
    I feel like he starts mixing around F#4/G4 tbh, there’s a definite change in tone around there
    Really nice clips and great vid

      I'm not sure where he actually changes from chest to mix, so I leave it as chest this time, but he pretty much mixes at some point as you mentioned

      tim hits some good off mic B1s sometimes. there's this one video of him singing a B1 like 8 feet from the mic and like under everyone else in home free and its still like pretty audible which is kind of crazy th-cam.com/video/vCrlFdFeYxs/w-d-xo.html

    That E1 when they did Elvira, the mic almost didn't pick it up, at least to my normal speakers.. I'd have to stick my headphones on to hear it.

    Btw I'm a tenor yet It's not that easy to sing a C5 and F5 with Falsetto, I believe that my falsetto is broken, Lol, Because a Bass is finding it easier than me to sing those notes, It could just be because I don't really drink that much water or maybe because there were times when I screamed and felt some pain in my throat or probably cuz Puberty ain't done at 18 years old.

    I really enjoyed this, but I’d like it if you defined what the titles mean to a non-musician. Chest fry, etc. also I know the letters and numbers have to do with the scales, but don’t know what they mean.

    • @heliotropeskies5918
      @heliotropeskies5918 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      chest-fry is when someone takes a little bit of breath support out of their chest voice to be able to hit lower notes, giving it this sort of sharper sound in the vibration, but not removing too much support because then it becomes vocal fry, which is next to impossible to hold a note in. growl is basically the noise u make when clearing ur throat, but if used in the right way it allows for fully supported, smooth notes lower than where ur chest voice ends. the letter displayed is the note within an octave, and then number is which octave the note is. middle c (C4) is an octave higher than C3, which is an octave higher than C2, and C4 is also an octave lower than C5, which is an octave lower than C6, etc. they're numbered so that when discussing ranges/arrangements that span over an octave it doesnt get confusing bc note names are cyclical.
