I'm 73 years old and I've never built anything in my life (except a family). But watching this video, and all your others, makes me think I could. Thank you, Dave!❤
Well, maybe the age doesn't allow you to build a cabin on your own, but surely you can do something simpler/smaller. I build a shed similar to his, using logs. But before that I started doing some woodworking. Started small, getting wood already cut in the right size and then assembling stuff. Gradualy I started to pick more complex projects. I still want to build a cabin and, I hope so, next year I'll do it.
Dave your videos, Your wife and kids videos are therapeutic for me. You guys are not fake like those reality shows. Hate those so much. Watching you and your family is calming and relaxing. I enjoy watching you guys built something. I always learn something new. Thanks Dave. 🙂
Hi Dave. My husband and I (68 & 77) just love watching your videos. My husband loves your old school since of humor. And I think you’re just absolutely adorable and would adopt you if I could. lol. But you have inspired us in a big way! We just bought 10 acres in Paradise in the UP. I told my husband we can do anything you can do, just at a much slower pace lol. But he felt we needed a cabin already built because of our health. He has had cancer twice ( it has weakened him) I am a diabetic have Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism. But I just wanted you to know that you have inspired us and because of that we now have something to be excited about and to look forward to. Thank you for that Dave❤
May the Lord continue to bless you and your family!! Praying that you don't need any of your prepper gear during the coming season of societal collapse. Lol
For me, those cots are a nightmare... I like to spread out. I would have had a plywood bottom with a 4" piece of foam and I would be good. I don't like the sag.. it's hard on my back. We still tent camp and I have a corded weighted blanket on the ground, with a 4" futon mattress over the top, right on the ground and it's like my bed at home! Love it!
I’m a Gramma in my 60s and I’ve been needing a she shed in my back yard. I’ve been watching you building cabins for a few years and I still don’t have my shed. I could sit and watch you build all day, and I have.
It's amazing how watching you work on projects makes my day. I always look forward to a new video. Everything you've accomplished is perfect for your property. Thanks for bringing me along. Can't wait to see you back at the cabin after the snow comes. Take care and stay radical.
I was sad to see the bunk beds go. But I love the mentality of using it somewhere without wasting it. Always enjoy your videos Dave. Makes me wonder if I can swing a hammer that much.
Thanks for the effort you put in to making and sharing these videos. Someone once said that over time, the value of positive reinforcement goes to zero when you get a lot of it, but I hope you realise how much your work is appreciated!
After hearing the news about Peanut and Fred I'm so happy you posted this to remind me that the world can be a a tranquil place that isn't filled with evil.
Dave, I worked in the powersports industry for many years. Gummed up carburetors on motorcycles, ATVs, and watercraft were a good source of income for our service dept! Most of these units would be in active for just a part of the year and they were a problem for the customer when it was time to use them. I am a firm believer in fuel stabilizers, such as Sta-bil. Back in the day, most all powersports equipment was carbureted and I used to preach it to my customers. Those that used it never had fuel and carburetor issues. I use it to this day on all my small engine equipment and I never have starting issues at the beginning of the season. I start working it in to my fuel toward the end of the equipment’s season. Thanks for another great video!
The Opti-2 has it built in, I'm sure you're familiar with it. Also, the Fitch Fuel Catalyst is good for cans! You drop it in the can, different metals that keep the fuel from being inhabited by bacteria which is what causes gas to go bad!
I've built dozens of houses and cabins in the last 50 years. This man knows his stuff and makes it easy to understand. He's right about nails being cheaper than screws. Alot of people use nail guns now so loose nails ( for hand nailing) are super cheap at yard sales and auctions. And you don't need a compressor or nail gun and hose.
I really enjoy your videos. It's a little late in life for me, but I sure do appreciate watching your take on projects. Thanks for another awesome episode!
I like how you spit out the word "metric" like it was poison, much like those fruit barrels you were pounding back! Thanks for another great video, Dave!!
I'm in the UK, we hung onto Freedom units in some curious ways, eg. larger milk cartons have to show the metric quantity in the larger font (a law which really ought to be ditched now), so the label says 2.272L, but right underneath it then also says 4 pints. Makes me smile every time. Likewise, plywood sheets are sold as 2440mm x 1220mm, ie. 8'x4'. But my favourite oddity are the road signs, every single one of them is still in miles or yards, something that's never been messed with; perhaps the politicians figured that would be a bridge too far. :D

I love you and Brooks content. Just finished this one, now watching Brooks new one lol
I get inspired by your content. Hopefully I'll see you at next Springs Bushcraft get together at Lumberman's. I won't bring my Gold Wing, I'll camp out of the back of my pickup. Hopefully my guitar playing will progress, and we can play around the campfire.
Love watching all your videos!! I learn so much!! Thank u!! 🙂
