Im suprised no one is commenting on the solar panels... That 2x4 isn't going to hold those panels when it gets windy. It was flopping around when you were installing the panels. You need to mount the brace to multiple beams under the sheet metal. You can prevent the roof from leaking by drilling a pilot hole, filling it with silicone, applying silicone to the screw, then screwing everything in.
also those solar panels look like harbor freight 4*25w 100W solar panel thing and yeah not much power for that cabin if u decide to run a/c or anything that really needs power
@SamMcKinley you dont watch people like this...watch real builders and scale their builds it to suit your needs.. awesome framer, the honest carpenter and matt bangs wood are great channels..
The pump will most probably freeze over the winter because the pipe that will bring water into the cabin wasn't insulated. So even if the water in the creak isn't frozen, the water in the pipe might freeze. I'd recommend getting a bit of insulation for it.
On the corrugated roof sheets you need to nail or screw on the top part of the wavy corrugated, you did it on the lower part, where the water flows. Thats how roof leaks.

I just love seeing these tiny home/cabin builds!! Since large homes are so expensive, I guess this is as good as it gets for me!! I could make this work!!
I'm a huge fan of the stone. I brought in tons of crushed stone for all around my cabin. Its great for drainage and just looks better. Your shoes dont get muddy either. If the stone is deep enough you don't get weeds.
The cabin looks great, what a fun build! A couple things that worry me a little however... 1.) No housewrap. That's going to potentially mean moisture problems. 2.) No horizonal running OSB beneath the vertical siding. I'm sure this won't cause issues, however the nice thing about running OSB horizonally beneath your siding is that it firmly locks your walls into place. Without it, you do lack a certain amount of horizonal strength, which may be more noticeable on the 2x4 walls. 3.) Single pane windows. Depending on your climate this may not be an issue either...but I live in an area that can reach triple digits during the summer and -30 during the winter, double pane windows are a must.
Also a little worried about the small creek. It doesn't flood there does it? Living in a flood zone for a few years myself, always make me a little nervous of creeks and what they are like during a storm surge or something similar ^^;
Couple things I thought about for the battery bank. Should really look into some sort of vent for those. Also, I'd figure out some sort of tray or base for those to be placed onto, in case one leaks battery acid. Great project.
This is incredible! Y’all are so talented! Y’all should do a video / vlog, something like.. camping in my tiny home for the weekend. Show us what there is to do in the area. Hanging out in the tiny home. Cooking. Etc. That would be cool! 💜💜

Dad, "See what happens is when you're good at something you get more of it to do." No truer words ever spoken, lol. Nice job guys! Love watching your amazing projects!
Since there will probably be a next time, if you're only going to use 1" foam anyway, you can put it on top of the sub floor, that way you don't have any breaks in it or have to worry about animals getting to it. As long as it's high density it will support a click laminate or you can put another sheet of 1/2" over top. Just build your door(s) frame with the extra floor thickness in mind.
I'll definitely have to try this when I'm older, even though I live in a suburban family that doesn't camp or hunt, I still have friends and church summer camps to look forward too, I love nature and having a comfortable place to admire it from sounds awesome
Everyone forgets this build is meant to be TH-cam pretty for revenue views which will pay for it so all the short cuts in craftsmanship do really count as a loss when moisture and condensation ruin the cabin in a short time. Im no craftsman but ive watched countless cabin builds and that's how I came up with my comment theory.
This was very well presented. I think they will enjoy the cabin in the woods. I have over 4000 watts of solar on my home and it runs the refrigerator for 5 months now, no house power. I will have 2 more batteries coming in and a more powerful inverter to also run the freezer.
Does the creek lead into a larger body of water? Or lead off of your property? Did you guys look into how your dam/blockage will affect wildlife? This is definitely cool, but seems weird to mess with a natural water source.
I was kinda thinking this too. Also he said the water from the sink goes back into the creek. Which makes me wonder how much gray water will be going back into the environment.
@@adrianweldon4218 I don't think he said it goes back into the creek directly, but just straight down onto the ground. But, obviously, it could run-off into the creek since it's so close. Not to mention how it could affect the soil and even the foundation of the home itself. I know they said they wouldn't be using the sink much, but then that just means creating a dam makes even less sense. They could have just set up a small tank they'd rarely have to fill, or even just carry in one of those gerry cans that van-lifers use whenever they go to the property.
And to have sink water (and soaps, beer, food, etc used there) drain directly back into the creek. Not environmentally responsible at all. I figured the concrete mixed directly in the creek probably took out immediate wildlife already…so maybe it doesn’t matter at this point. Pumps can work in just a few inches of water. Seems like burying a bucket/ container partially at the bottom of the creek bed ( since they say it runs year round) would have done the job just as well and would have been far easier to remove later on.
I love the build, but as a builder myself, I see some issues...you should have dropped the floor joists of the deck below the joists in the cabin. This is a recipe for disaster if the deck gets any water...it will infiltrate under the bottom plate as it's at the same level as the exterior deck. And the joists in the loft are too small. 2x6 minimum would be best.
You’re 100% on point. Are you building anything currently? I have cash if you’re local (Md or Va or DC) and I also have a credit line if you could use it.
Nice build. Only advice I've got... Water seeks the lowest point. You need diversion ditches on that hillside to push water away from the house area or that rock is going into the creek. They do make a glue for gravel that will help keep it in place but it may not be a wise idea nest to the water you're pulling from the dammed area. Nice job.
good question! i meant to include a text prompt saying that we bought the wrong one lol... the one in there now is meant to be for outside camping- we ordered a real one after the cabin was done- then we will take the chimney through the wall outside
I watched the whole video, seeing how they made this cabin, and I still don't believe it. It is incredible and beautiful. It looks like it is straight out of a magazine.
Hey Clay you’re builds on this channel are an inspiration, never stop doing what you love man. I wish nothing but the best for you and your family, god bless you and you’re endeavors.
Questions for the experts of youtube! Will those foundation posts support the weight of the cabin over time? Or will it sag into ground making everything slightly slanted? Compared to a concrete slab (obviously way more costly). Love the build and it seems like a simple solution.
It'll definitely sink. Frost heave will have its way with it, not to mention the proximity to that creek. Did you see how wet that ground was? It never dries out, only gets wetter. I wouldn't be surprised to find it abandoned and falling in around itself in five years, if the county doesn't make them tear it down first. These morons are like locusts. They made their money off the views, now they'll forget about it and ruin something else.
I don't understand how you don't have more subscribers, honestly better then most larger youtubers. Continue to do great things, definitely will be watching.
“Okay dude, what does a cabin in the woods have to have?” My initial thought, a demon in the basement and an old book with evil spells, bound with human skin
It’s a nice build, you guys will learn a lot from this build over the next few years. You guys should build an out house a couple 100 feet away from the house and away from the creek…. Maybe add a water barrel with gravel and charcoal to filter your water and make it drink able. Be sure and put video on the channel as you guys up grade.
Wow… That’s really perfect in every way… Amazing location… Very stylish inside and outside… Love the porch swing… Y’all thought of everything… The solar power is brilliant… Great Job Y’all… Love It !!! 💙💯💙😎
Yeah some channels build things that are designed to be fully functional like Drewbuildsstuff. Others build projects purely for TH-cam/entertainment purposes. I suspect this channel is the latter. Pretty and not terribly made, but a little "form over function".
Lol - the sniffing of the fresh cement powder. mmmmmm yes. Now read the safety warning where it says "CAUTION: DO NOT INHALE THE DUST. ALWAYS USE ADEQUATE RESPIRATER ...." lmao
I once mixed up cement without reading the directions and it felt like my lungs were filling with hardening glue. It was a pretty terrifying several hours before the effects subsided. Seeing that shot was very triggering for me. :-) Cut that shot or add a disclaimer.
Whenever I watch a video like this I see that I gotta start learning how to build stuff, the problem is that here in Brazil everything is pricy. It kinda demotivate us from doing cool things like this. But great work guys!
You're supposed to mix the bags of concrete with water before you put it in the hole or else I'm going to be mixed well it'll be the equivalent of just filling it with dust to hold the post
Not sure what the climate is like there, but I highly suggest draining that line before winter, cause it’s definitely gonna freeze, depending on how cold it gets it should be anywhere from 15” to 5’ deep
The best thing about this channel, and what makes it such a success, is that they can ALWAYS count on all of you "EXPERTS" (many of whom couldn't tell you the difference between a hammer and a mallet) to jump in with their criticism, corrections, and "you did this and that all wrong! What you should have done is...". Meanwhile the algo is growing his channel by leaps and bounds and he's laughing all the way to the bank! And he, his brother, dad, and anyone else who's helping with the channel, rightly deserve!
Bro if you're thick enough to think any of their builds last more than a couple of years, you're fucking deluded. It's cheap shit built for content. If you wanna meatride your parasocial friends in the video blindly, go ahead, but if you expect the rest of us to shut up, then you're SOL.
Really cool! Your channel is inspiring. One thing I think you should add is a railing in the loft area so someone doesn’t fall off while sleeping. Also, is there a bathroom?
No weather barrier, letting lead acid batteries vent inside, uneven tile, mdf counter tops, overspray everywhere, unsanitary water supply, promised foam insulation but used fiberglass, no insulation under the loft, and zero battons on the roof layment. This thing is going to fall apart after a few years
Also I assume doing the flooring like he did won’t help. All the weight is going onto the screws, should he be over lapping joist onto the support beams?
@@Athereelneed permits, building code, can’t drain the sink there bc it’ll go back into the creek and contaminate it, can’t necessarily dam the creek without checking first. There’s a bit. Not saying I agree or disagree with them
I suggest looking up Drewbuildsstuff. He recently built a tiny home on a large trailer. Definitely a couple of notches above these guys in terms of quality. This is OK, but comes across a little as built to look pretty on TH-cam rather than be 100% functional.
Hello just great, the house is just great, really great and has everything you need.. Maybe you could just make a slatted frame as big as the mattress(es) and then just have slats so that the mattresses can air out. Experience worth it :)) and a small railing at the top is simply safer if you close yourself while sleeping turns far, etc., where the ladder is, you can leave it free, simply made of wood with slats and it doesn't have to be very high either.

Wow… That’s really perfect in every way… Amazing location… Very stylish inside and outside… Love the porch swing… Y’all thought of everything… The solar power is brilliant…
Great Job Y’all… Love It !!!

I just had to watch a single video from you guys to be obsessed. You earned a new subscriber! 🎉
I found your videos randomly and now im hooked on them, i hope i can build things just like y'all! Its amazing what you do so im sending lots of love❤
Is it just me or they didn’t water proof the house
That's what I was thinking the whole time lol
I noticed that tooo, especially doing that bathroom
100%. I always appreciate people doing these types of projects, but this thing wasn’t built very well.
Yeah some channels build things that are designed to be fully functional like Drewbuildsstuff. Others build projects purely for TH-cam/entertainment purposes. I suspect this channel is the latter. Pretty and not terribly made, but a little "form over function".
yep. tbh he prob only built the cabin for the content then demolished it/left it to rot
Buddy just straight huffing silica @ 0:51
Lol - the sniffing of the fresh cement powder. mmmmmm yes. Now read the safety warning where it says "CAUTION: DO NOT INHALE THE DUST. ALWAYS USE ADEQUATE RESPIRATER ...."
lmao
I once mixed up cement without reading the directions and it felt like my lungs were filling with hardening glue. It was a pretty terrifying several hours before the effects subsided. Seeing that shot was very triggering for me. :-) Cut that shot or add a disclaimer.
This was awesome. I have never watched any of your videos before. I will watch more now.😊❤❤❤
Whenever I watch a video like this I see that I gotta start learning how to build stuff, the problem is that here in Brazil everything is pricy. It kinda demotivate us from doing cool things like this. But great work guys!
More off the grid stuff please!
You're supposed to mix the bags of concrete with water before you put it in the hole or else I'm going to be mixed well it'll be the equivalent of just filling it with dust to hold the post
I have never before seen anyone install tin roof staright on the roof rafters.
Not sure what the climate is like there, but I highly suggest draining that line before winter, cause it’s definitely gonna freeze, depending on how cold it gets it should be anywhere from 15” to 5’ deep
Good job dude. I was thinking about building an off grid cabin very similar to this so I’m happy to see your build.
Amazing work!

with the blue paint i thought it was gonna look ugly, however it has turned out to be the most buetiful cabin ive seen!
Most underrated comment
I hate all these so called “professionals”
Bro if you're thick enough to think any of their builds last more than a couple of years, you're fucking deluded. It's cheap shit built for content. If you wanna meatride your parasocial friends in the video blindly, go ahead, but if you expect the rest of us to shut up, then you're SOL.
Really cool! Your channel is inspiring. One thing I think you should add is a railing in the loft area so someone doesn’t fall off while sleeping. Also, is there a bathroom?
It’s beautiful, although I would’ve mounted the flatscreen on the wall to make it look bigger in the living room.
You sound like the life of the party
@@CoulterStoneMasonryfr bro he needs to lay off no one cares
Is this supposed to be a joke?
I'd love to know how many laws you broke here. A bunch for sure 😂😂😂
How
@@Athereelneed permits, building code, can’t drain the sink there bc it’ll go back into the creek and contaminate it, can’t necessarily dam the creek without checking first. There’s a bit. Not saying I agree or disagree with them
I’m wondering too lol
Codes, no permit, it's also probably someone else's land for sure

These are my favorite videos to watch on TH-cam. There’s nothing better out there. Congrats on the cabin. Is it your family’s land?
I suggest looking up Drewbuildsstuff. He recently built a tiny home on a large trailer. Definitely a couple of notches above these guys in terms of quality. This is OK, but comes across a little as built to look pretty on TH-cam rather than be 100% functional.
I feel like this is great content and family bonding. New here! Glad I found you all ❤
Love ur vid❤❤
Always supporting U ❤
The D.I.Y influencer special. I lost count on issues after he used a grinder to cut the panels after they were installed on the roof 🤦😂
Yeah…. can I see your cabin in the woods?
@@calebrose7739 Doesn't make him wrong though...
@@lukebarnes8097 yeah… we should build a cabin in the woods
I'm just here for the comments from literally every tradesman in the US. 😂
Should have buried the water line deeper. Beautiful build. Love the color choice
That roof will be super loud when it rains
1st world problems
This needs attention
That is very super Duper cool and good and awesome
What about a bathroom
Hello just great, the house is just great, really great and has everything you need..
Maybe you could just make a slatted frame as big as the mattress(es) and then just have slats so that the mattresses can air out. Experience worth it :)) and a small railing at the top is simply safer if you close yourself while sleeping turns far, etc., where the ladder is, you can leave it free, simply made of wood with slats and it doesn't have to be very high either.
Look into S5! Metal roof clamps for corrugated metal. Iron ridge rails & bam you can fit a lot more solar panels on that roof. EG4 batteries.
I'm bored... *casually builds an entire house
The wrong way tho 🙄
most of the comments are judging his build 😭
I see constructive criticism. Haters can hate but I love their willingness to learn as they go.
Wish there was a way to mute the music
U can mute the music
Beautiful and inspiring work. Well done.
what a beautiful tiny house cabin.. Love it!
Gonna build this in Minecraft.

You lost me with the big TV and couch at the end. Isn't the point of a cabin to get away and experience nature? Not watch more netflix lol
Your "Off the grid home" is still taxed. You're not off the grid.

I think you should put rails on the loft so people don’t potentially fall off but other than that I love the cabin, it looks so cozy❤
9:05 perfect
Should have rails where the bed is❤ 17:36
Awesome, all i need in life is a little cabin like this. A piece of land in the woods and a creek 😮
An absolutely amazing project, great effort guy's ❤
Bros gonna live here now
Have you thought about doing interviews? Also, in terms of content, I recommend keep it diverse. A lot of TH-camrs that I follow cover a wide range of content. I realize that’s a lot of work, but quantity of content gives you some latitude to be creative.
I hope that creek never jumps its banks, Awesome job on the Cabin!!
