For only a few hundred dollars more you are better of the get the SE trim. On the exterior on the SE you gain standard led headlights, led running lights, push start and keyless buttons on hatch and drivers door, larger 15 inch 2 tone alloy wheels, led turn signals in side mirrors, still get the red grill. Then inside on the SE you gain fabric on the front door panels and fabric front door panel arm rests, fold down driver seat arm rest, upgraded multi color gauge cluster that lit and has carbon trim and chrome, black and silver upgraded gear shift panel, super upgraded seat material with leatherette bolstering with contrast piping and stitched plaid multi color premium fabric material center sections, carbon trim on door panels, chrome front interior door handles and more. Then on top of that the SE also gains standard automatic high beams and lane departure warning. The only thing you loose on the SE vs the Carbonite is the body kit which you can option on the 2021 SE for $995.00 which mine has. 2022 has the new Black Edition trim to replace this Carbonite trim but again the SE being a few hundred dollars more is a much better deal and if your looking at the 2021 Carbonite or the 2022 Black Edition trim pay the little extra and go for the SE its well worth it with the far upgraded interior and exterior enhancements along with added safety features.
For 2022 all Mirages gain a passenger vanity mirror and welcome home exterior lighting. Then on BE and SE trims they gain standard automatic headlights (auto high beams is still SE only) and rain sensing wipers. The base ES trim has a ton of standard features for a small car and puts the base Spark to shame when compared side by side feature wise and Mirage has standard forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection. So yes the Spark cost a little less but you lose a ton of features for the savings.
But if you are looking at a Carbonite or Black Edition Mirage do yourself a favor and check out the SE first if available as it is a massive difference for very little extra cost.
I have owned a 2015 Mirage ES, 2017 Mirage G4 SE and now a 2021 Mirage SE and they are great cars. I always buy new but the Mirage is the first car ai ever wanted the same kind of car again and again because there is just something about it that makes you really like what it is and what it stands for along with all the features, reliability and great mpg and long warranty. Check out the owner online who put 414,000 miles on their Mirage!

@@edgaryzen4925 Honestly its just my personal preference. I loved them both for different reasons. I do like the style of the hatch better and the plaid cloth and leatherette interior on the SE hatch vs the plain cloth on the G4 SE sedan sealed the deal for me and in person it is no comparison between the 2. Even the cloth material on the SE hatch is thicker and more premium than the G4 SE sedan cloth. Now on all other trims the seat materials match up between the hatch and sedan on trim lines like the ES, LE, CE and BE. The new trim for 2022 being the Mirage BE and Mirage G4 BE has really nice thick red and black seat material with red stitching and its also on the front interior door panels like you get on the top SE trims. The seats in the SE hatch are so sharp. I also like having a rear wiper. I hardly ever use the rear seat so the hatches smaller rear seat does not bother me and even at 5’11” I fit in the rear seat behind my driving position no problem and my legs dont touch the front seat. But if you have kids or are using the rear seat regularly the G4 sedan has a much larger rear seat plus a fold down armrest with 2 cup holders and would be much better. The trunk in the G4 sedan is massive too for the cars size. My friend Kay is the opposite of me she has had a 2015 ES hatch, 2019 G4 SE sedan and now a 2021 G4 SE sedan. She likes the size and look of the sedan better. All and all I have nothing bad to say about either the hatch or sedan its just what better serves you. The Mirage G4 sedan runs more expensive too by as much a $1,000.00 more.
I just bought a 2022 mirage se a week ago, and the gas gauge has barely moved and I have put close to 140 miles on it. Love the car for many reasons.

@@Pyroo0 nah dude, here in the middle of europe a used Space Star/Mirage (2013-2015) so the pre-pre-facelift is still about 5-6k Euros used, even with over 100k Kilometers. The newer models, even used, are sold for about 11-13k €.

I bought the 2021 mirage and i have to say that this is the best bing for your buck. I am really surprised by the amount of space that's in the back seat.The size is pretty decent once you see it in person.

I'm so tired of reading hater comments and professional reviewers putting the Mirage down, stating awful things about it. Consumer Reports just buried it, so to speak, in their April issue due out soon. What I don't understand is the put downs after the fact that the original air cooled VW bug had less horsepower that the current Mirage and lacked so many creature comforts that this Mitsu has and still MANY peeps bought it worldwide. The Bug was criticized for being low powered and a tin can on wheels but yet it became a worldwide favorite even with bad press. The Mirage should be considered for what it is: a simple machine with no pretense of anything other than being reliable transportation for the masses out there. A sort of "people's car" for modern times. The Bug was successful in odds with Detroit metal: huge land yachts that offered little economy and catered to the Establishment's concept of what typical Americans wanted. The Bug, meanwhile, had an appeal to those not playing into the bigger is better mindset and became an icon worldwide. The Mirage is the modern version of what the Beetle was, and hopefully it will become, in time, a 21st century iconic roundabout! I don't care what the naysayers may say or think about the Mitsu. Many Mirage owners will probably agree with my comment here. 👍✌♐

Great review! I'm a big fan of my 2018 Mirage. I definitely recommend them. No complaints and I love the look. The gas milage is NUTS. I usually get 42 mpg on average.

It's mostly an appearance package. The mechanicals are OLD and unimpressive. Mitsubishi needs to give us a new Mirage that includes modern technology.
If you go to higher trims, Mitsubishi adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus a optional 300 watt Rockford Fosgate sound system.

It has a 1.2L 3 Cylinder engine. Obviously not a sleeper car. 😉😆If you are going to drive this on the highway you better make sure you get up to speed as you merge into the traffic flying by. I would not feel comfortable driving this car in highway traffic.

To make this car relevant and something that a lot more people will consider buying, Mitsubishi should be adding a tiny turbo, increase power to about 115 or 120 hp, increase the wheel/tire package to 15 or 16 inches and swap the CVT to a simple automatic tranny if there is room for it. And really work on the marketing approach in the likes of Hyundai or Kia
