  • In part 6 of this video tutorial for Farming Simulator 22, Giant's Editor 9+, and Blender, we are going to continue building our house. In this particular video, we are going to finish marking the seams for our UV unwrap, and then we going to inspect the UV space and fix any inconsistencies in the mesh in order for our mesh to be unwrapped correctly. Remember to download your copy of the image used in this video if you want to follow along!

Omg that looks so fun! Hours upon hours of enjoyment. This is giving me second thoughts about modeling for FS. 🥺

It's a process that most people definitely love to hate, but it's honestly not that bad. There are ways to go about making it easier on yourself and once you get going you finish the job quickly enough. It also depends on what you have in mind for the model ... you may not even need this step!!

You can save yourself a lot of time marking seams if you mark the seams as you model. Take a railing for example: model the spindles (vertical part that is repeated), but before you do the array or duplicate it mark the seams. The seams will be marked on each copy. You can also unwrap as you work, but I'll let you figure that one out. I'd like to show you one of my buildings if there is a way to share it. Please let me know.

You're definitely not wrong! For me, I feel like it slows me down too much to do it while modeling and it's something best saved for later unless I know at the time exactly what I'll be doing with the model. At times it even feels like I'm creating extra work in the end when I clean the mesh, but that's a matter of opinion. Some things I mark as I go, some I don't. It all comes down to personal preference.
If you watch the previous videos when the railing was built, that's exactly the way it was done. The posts were all modeled and the seams marked before the array and before the modifiers were applied so save time when marking seams. I'm not sure why I didn't do the main posts the same way - like I said, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't :)
Definitely! I love seeing what other people have built! It depends on how you want to share it. You can share photos or the entire model - it's completely up to you! You can email me at agentbbrown1@gmail.com if you want.
