@@mr.ballree6287 that's pretty much guranteed tbh. Unlike Zoro and Wano (who are connected by few, sort of loose threads involving swords and Kuina's bloodline, and maybe . . . Zoro's bloodline), Usopp have declared himself wanted to be "the Brave Warrior of the Sea" and visit Elbaf
@@Deeper489 basically. Usopp's biggest problem is that he doubts himself. Usopp has done so many brave things, id actually argue that he's the bravest character in one piece. the problem is that he lets his fear control him in the moment and allows doubt, in himself, to turn what should be moments of action into moments of hesitation.
what i love about usopp is techincally his dream has come true already. being brave does not mean being without fear. it means that despite that fear you face the situation ahead of you. his story isn't over but usopp is already a brave warrior of the sea. within the definition of brave it says to show courage. 'brave: adjective, ready to face and endure danger or pain; showing courage." Courage is "the ability to do something that frightens one." Usopp is a brave warrior of the sea.
That's a valid take! In my personal opinion, his title is contingent on the recognition he gets from others. In the beginning of the story he's famous in his home town for lying, so to become a brave warrior of the sea when he returns home, I believe he needs to be famous for being brave/heroic rather than for lying. He may have the courage necessary to face danger, but he's had that ever since the day he left his home for the Grand Line. So if that were the only factor, then his goal would have no true purpose. That being said, I do think he has a lot of the qualities he needs to become a hero already, he just has to tap into them.
@@TheHiddenIsland- sorry if my comment came off as me challenging your take. i really liked the video and i agree with what you're saying in it. i just enjoy usopp because despite him not believing he is a brave warrior of the sea, us as viewers of the story can already see this man has achieved so much.
@@-G-. Yea of course bro, no worries at all I didn't take it the wrong way - I actually appreciate when people challenge my take with good reasons. Glad the video got you thinking about this stuff!
I dont think he is just there yet. At least in his own mind. He conquers his fear time and time again. Dude faced Kizaru for sake of Zoro, but then again he shakes in face of much lesser danger. He ran away from Trebol and Sugar for example. He still thinks and feel like a coward. Fear dictates a lot of his actions and he is easy to lose cool when facing it. He doesnt have to be Luffy or Zoro when it comes to fear, but he needs to get to at least Franky or Brook level. Usopp was ready to face an entire pirate crew alone on Syrup village arc, one could argue that he was brave to begin with, but when things dont have to get crazy dire to bring this side of him out, I think he could say he achieved his goal
When you put it this way I think Oda is also relating himself as Usop because he is the Storyteller who is telling us the lies we are happy to imagine to be true.
Would be insane if Elbaf had tales of Usopp because hes been the one constantly saving the 5 giants we've seen. DORRY BROGGY OIMO KASHII HAJRUDIN. Like they all got saved by him. Like directly benefitted from his heroics. Would be amazing to see them honour Usopp and excited to meet him while he himself thinks they are the ones who will inspire him
That last minute just made me realize than Usopp basically had his own "Nothing Happened" moment long before Zoro, with the added weight that keeping the event secret kept him looking 'bad' (cowardly / a liar) in the eyes of his village. That's cool.
You shouldn't forget that usopps place in the crew is a jack of all trades he may not be excelling in an area like the others but usopp is A carpenter Botanist(grows his pop green next to nami's orchard) Hairdresser(Oda confirms he cuts the crews hair) Handyman( whenever luffy wants something simple built like a fishing rod or some tennis rackets usopp provides) strategist Sniper Artist(literally painted one of the most iconic jolly rogers in the series) the guy is a bit llike sokka from Avatar. he doesn't excel heavily in any area but fails to see his usefulness compared to his peers who are damn near god level
He also built Name's climax tact which isn't simple by any means, like even Franky remarked that Usopp is good especially considering he had no training
Usopp is really a great inventor. True, the things he designs are mostly for the purpose of delivering gags (the clima-tact was literally filled with about 90% party tricks as a meta joke), but they really have come in clutch on many occasions. Franky easily outdoes him obviously, but then of course Franky *is* a once in a generation talent. But I don’t see how anyone else on the crew could have dealt with Sugar from Usopp’s position. There are still clear, definable strengths that he has over his friends.
omg i literally had the same comparison with Usopp and Sokka when i started watching this show. I literally see Sokka in Usopp especially with his inventing skills. For me, Usopp is kinda like a nerfed Sokka. He has the inventing skills and the intelligence but a bit lacking in courageousness and a bit in leadership. Altho it doesn't mean he's weak. He's like the all arounder guy for the strawhats with the qualities and characteristics mentioned.
Usopp was a key player in freeing the toys which was start of Doflamingo's fall. Usopp has also actively fought the government and been successful. That's more than any of us can do. He's also an extremely talented marksman with a variety of attacks.
Ngl this video made me a bit emotional in some parts. Great stuff. Also, Tamanegi wanting to become an author and the lie of him and his friends about the pirates coming becoming true with Usopps return has me sold that the Usopps Fable book will happen. This is my head canon now.
Based on everything you laid out I think Usopp’s climax would come from lies about his skill, but the lie actually gets him in an argument with a giant who calls his bluff and Usopp is forced to back up his talk to defend his honor as a brave. Oda could add impact and tension to this moment easily especially if he doesn’t make his lie come true the crew could be in danger or if it’s connected to a final power up for him. Like a dangerous trial he has to overcome after talking out his backside and betting “anything” that he could best the record of said trial. Either way loved this video, I think Usopp is underrated. He is so interesting , irritating sometimes, but like you said that feeling is probably because we see ourselves in him Can’t wait for more content like this, you did such a fantastic job
Thanks so much bro, your idea is great and I really appreciated this comment. He gets his bluff called by a true Elbaphian warrior and has to back it up? Brilliant
Zoro is my favorite character but Usopp is easily the best written character in the series to me. Usopp sniping to save Robin from the Tower of Law is my personal favorite Strawhat moment.
@@zoowii1813 Sanji has been getting a lot of love recently. But throughout the whole scope of the series, Usopp consistently gets more interesting plot lines and development than Sanji. At best they’re relative with whoever you like more getting the edge, but if Oda delivers for Usopp in Elbaf then he’s gonna leave Sanji in the dust.
@@grizzlyadams8277 How come? Usopp from the beginning is a coward, still is, I don't see any development since Ennies Lobby, seriously. Ok we had God Ussop but still, in this same arc Ussop showed to be a pussy with the tontatta. And that was the last we saw about him. After that, he just didnt do a thing
@@zoowii1813I would confidently say that 1:1 Usopp had more interesting writing and development in every single arc that they both appeared in. The only exceptions being Baratie, Drum, Skypiea, and Wano. Drum and Skypiea are only slight differences, Baratie is Sanji’s origin arc so that’s hardly fair, and Wano was the conclusion to Sanji’s Germa and was genuinely great character writing for him. This is just my personal opinion on the situation. If you disagree and prefer Sanji that’s cool. You’re just never gonna convince me Sanji>Usopp. Just as I’ll likely never convince you of my opinion.
@@grizzlyadams8277 I do prefer Sanji but I just wanted to know where tf do you see that great character development because boy I gotta tell you that's an unpopular opinion. Im just curious really
I love the fact that after the events of Wano even chopper beats out Usopp, but his dream isn't to be the strongest or most powerful, his dream is to be able to conquer his fears and become brave and we see him doing that more and more, he's now casually getting into fights that he would never think of back in the Grand line, not to mention the east blue, so I'm excited to see where he goes now that he gets to claim that he's a part of the crew that took down two emperors, I'm hoping he doesn't become all stoic and Zoro-esque by the end of the series, I hope you still keeps that slapstick with chopper and Luffy and has that jovial younger attitude, but his character growth is definitely some of my favorite by far because when I was younger I had a lot of social anxiety and I could barely hold a conversation with someone my age and eventually I realized how goofy that fear was and started getting older and started maturing more and realized how easy it is to hold a conversation and become brave in those situations so I find a bit of myself in Usopp
Mannnn, what a great video. Goosebumps thinking about the Usopp’s arc being capped off by “Usopp the hero” - so much potential there for Oda to work with
I know this isn’t important, but to continue to tie Usopp to literature, the Tontatta are also a reference to Gulliver’s Travels, especially with how Leo captured Robin
Usopp is very creative and it is a testament to usopp that he is able to be a jack of all trades. He built namis clami tact, patched the merry, commands the day to day of the crew a lot and is the grand fleets captain. He also wad able to assimilate and integrate new tech (dials) and learned advanced biology with his pop greens. Dude is no joke he is just on a team with a bunch of monsters. Even physically oda said he was alabasta zoro strength
Yeah, we cant compare him with the powerscale of the band, but he is useful as heck and the water 7 fight against luffy show us that he is a force to be recognized, hes basically batman from one piece, if hes prepared he can take it
Growing up in Greece, I would often listen to cassette tape recordings of Aesop's fables as my bedtime story. They definitely have persisted through the ages.
This is the Usopp video we needed! Only you would have clicked on Sogeking's theme song = Kamen Rider's. Everything you said here was right on point. All the SHs are going to be legends, and Usopp will be one of the most colorful. I agree there's going to be a sniper challenge at some point; what I think/hope we'll see was foreshadowed by Igaram when he warned Vivi that she could be shot by someone from a great distance. We saw Van Auger shoot down those seagulls from miles off Jaya. If Van Auger takes aim at Vivi in the last battle, Usopp's greatest sniper feat would be shooting that fatal bullet out of the air before it hits Vivi. And the great irony of it? Only Usopp would ever know he had done it.
Apologies to any channel members whose comments disappeared from the early access. I changed a setting on the vid prior to publishing, youtube bugged out and erased the prior comments. Sorry guys, feel free to repost your stuff if you want
This is really well written. Great job. There are some lines where I was like, “woah.” This actually made me like and appreciate Ussop more. I kind of go in and out of liking him. I feel like Oda has been waiting for Ussop to get to the final saga so he could finally use him in the way he intended to. I also love that this seems like a video I can show any person without spoiling much.
Usopp’s my absolute favorite. I adore him. He has so much heart and creativity. And he’s so freaking funny. His battles are some of my favorites because of how unexpected they are.
THIS IS WHY USSOP WAS AND IS MY FAVORITE OF THE STRAWHATS!!!!! He's a coward when facing his opponents, and kinda fails upwards, and i feel soooooo identified by that. That's why my favourite fight of the series is ussop vs luffy. Because he didn't care that he was his captain and he couldn't win, he went and gave a batman-like performace, showing his creativity on a battlefield. And that's why these last couple of arcs I'm kinda disappointed that ussop couldn't have a big achievement on the onigashima battle.
If you already said this, forgive me. But I think a key factor in Usopp's transition into his dream is when his virtue of bravery ceases to be vanity. He wants to be a brave warrior not because he can not be anything else, but because he thinks that's what he should be. His heart isn't in it yet. Like a king who wants peace because his followers will revere him highly, instead of wanting safety and security for his people. When Usopp stops trying and simply is, is when he will achieve his dream in my opinion.
lol i had a small jumpscare when you started talking about swiss folklore cuz as a swiss person i never imagined someone outside our small country would know about wilhelm tell much less talk about the myth in a one piece theory
Usopp has always been my favorite one piece character, and one thing he doesn't get enough credit for in my opinion is, when the shit hits the fan and the situation is very serious/ dire, usopp mans up and plants his shaking feet firmly in the dirt to stand up for what he believes in
Usopp always walked the line between dreaming and lying. He is surrounded by others saying ridiculous and far fetched goals and dreams that never even compared to the lies he told. "I'm gonna map the world, find the One Piece and find the All Blue". So confronted with his simple lies and hearing these crazy dreams made him realize, and all of us too, that the only difference between lying and dreaming is the intention to see them through. So come aboard and bring along, all your hopes and dreams, for in this essay ill be...
Uk watching this video, all the way through, it humbled me. I used to crap on ussopp alot with me making comparisons of him with myself but then after thinking about being in his position i realized i was too hard on him. It's easy to feel big about one's own self when they've gotten used to lacking adversity challenging them but the minute things get more pressuring you get s reminder of how things used to be when you were at a point in life without the strength you're flexing in tje present. That said no matter how capable someone is they can sell themselves shorter when seen acting like a bully towards someone getting it obtusely. We're all human and it's only fair we have patience with eachother regardless of what we disapprove of. There's alot we could disapprove of within ourselves but we who can say they make it a habit to keep themselves blameless? As one used to say, he who is without sin cast the first stone. Replace sin with shame and you can see where im going with this. Most of my disapproval though of ussopp consists of his narcissistim, as well as his occasional apathic (careless) and petty moments. Cause when you NAP on the worth of others you act as if you're above them. A human quality ik but it's one majority of people despise understandably like luffy enough to punch a hole in the face of someone personifying narcissistim. To be narcissistic btw u have to be vain and the opposite of vanity is humbleness. Seeing how big ussopp was making himself on a crew that already established their captain would annoy anyone. Nevertheless fair is fair, so I can only atleast give credit where credit is due. No question ussopp has alot to be insecure about being amongst power houses but that doesnt mean he can't remind himself of what fills him with the opposite of shame. Which is confidence, with confidence not being afraid to speak words into existence it often times takes the essense of what's true and shoots it straight out there like nothing else matters because the expection is so high it conviences those yet to believe to believe. The less there is doubt the higher the crit chance and regardless of the honest impact the suspense is enough to effect the recievers even before the truth is revealed. That said after ussopp learns to boost his confidence by clearing out his system of shame he'll be daring enough to face anything. Cause it's not the player it's the game they're playing, the more familiar one is with a game theyre less intimidated to challenge it. Apply the same logic with ussopp and it implies he'll get two major power ups in this order. Assuming the world government war is next he'll unlock conqueror's haki along with SANji in order for them to get the best of 2/5 of the gorosei. Next he'll unlock advanced Observation haki to best his opponent in the blackbeard pirates. For starters he mentioned he had conqueror's haki in wano, what significance could that have in tje plot you ask? Well what if conqueror's haki is the only thing that could take out a gorosei? If being a seeker with a strong will was enough of a impact to unlock conqueror's haki then ussopp challenging his fears could be what unlocks his. Likewise he could imbed his bullets with conquerer's haki and he's also the son of yassopp who could also potentially have conqueror's haki. According to this logic it also implies other straw hats are expected to have conqueror's haki then besides the monster trio. Well since there's 5 gorosei there's 5 members to take into account then. So picture this, Athority, Influence & Meteorology Imu vs Luffy, Bonny & Nami Justice (Boar/Pigs) vs Freedom Mercury vs Yamato Science vs History Saturn vs Robin Agriculture (Gardner Mole) vs Florest🔨 Jupiter vs Ussopp Finance vs Math Venus vs Zoro Environmental Impact vs Cooking ☮ Mars vs SANji
I was lead to this video by Dak's Saké's video about Elbaf and Ragnarok, and there was one piece of information/lore he overlooked, as did you (and I will also post on his vid but I wanted to make sure you didn't reach the same conclusion first). Dak's video says Usop will come into his own by befriending Loki... but I think he 1st must DEFEAT Loki, who is likely the largest giant in the world. How? What is THE most famous fable regarding giants? David & Goliath. Goliath was an undefeatable giant, and was only finally vanquished by David - a supreme marksman who use a sling(shot)! Oda is is making another nod toward Biblical mythology, as he is doing with the Adam tree (and eventually the Eve tree). He is blending ALL the mythos together wonderfully.
Very thorough analysis and your editing is on point as usual. I really like how you often incorporate history/mythology into your videos. I'd love to see you cover more characters like this!
Usopp’s battle vs Perona is one of the greatest battles in all of One Piece. I think Thriller Bark in itself is vastly underrated and that fight is at the forefront of why this arc is so highly underrated. To start off, I think Usopp’s fight in particular is not only underrated, but it’s one of my favorite One Piece experiences. Usopp does such a great job of using his limited resources to mass effect pulling out a win vs an opponent who is vastly superior to him in almost all areas save for creativity. And it’s this creativity where we see Usopp shine. His absolute fear drives him to his peak much like the power of friendship drives Luffy. When he pounded down with Usopp’s Hammer I cheered loud enough to frighten my dog. It was such a kick ass moment. And the bugs was such an ironic touch using fear in the house of fear. And it is this irony that makes all of Thriller Bark shine. There are so many great moments where Oda uses pop cultural references to create gags that make me laugh as hard as any gag in One Piece. For instance when the zombies broke out into the spontaneous flash dance had me howling. And when the cowardly trio hid inside of Kamusey and he couldn’t tell Perona because she wouldn’t let him talk because she hated the sound of his voice. Brilliant. And how Usopp wasn’t affected by Perona’s ghosts because he was already at his lowest is not only hilarious but it also shows us what Usopp has to deal with during every Straw Hat mission. I know one of the reasons why people dislike this arc so much is due Sanji’s pervy declaration in his fight vs Absolam but I think most have it wrong. Sanji doesn’t want to actually do these things, it’s just his fantasy. Dark and gross as it is it’s only a fantasy. And for Sanji to see this fantasy in real life disturbs him in numerous ways, mainly it taints his own fantasy and it violates his nakama. So he gets more angry than we’ve seen him prior and he makes Absolam pay the price. I mean, come on, let’s give our curly eyebrowed friend the benefit of the doubt. So yeah, this arc is awesome. It’s funny. It has great fights. It introduces Kuma, shows us that nothing happened, and finishes with Brook’s tale of Laboon. What more do you want?
Usopp has the two greatest qualities of a hero-- courage and faithfulness-- right from the start. He never abandons a friend, he never backs down in the face of someone stronger when something he believes in is on the line, and despite his enormous, monumental fears, he never once allows those fears to overcome his morals, loyalty, dreams, or goals. He picks a fight with Arlong to keep him from killing complete strangers, simply because they're helpless. He takes a beating from Luffy just because the Merry Go was a gift to them all from Kaya. He's willing to fight for what he believes in against overwhelming odds no matter how scared he is, and that's the true definition of courage- not absence of fear, but overcoming fear.
Usopp's position as a sniper has so much potential for the story! I really hope that Oda puts more use for those technical skills for a well-earned victory!
I honestly have grown to love Ussop since water 7 conflict. To me, he is already a brave warrior of the sea but he himself has such little belief in his own capabilities. I remember that scene in the pre time slip where Nani asked Usopp to make her a weapon because she and he were not monsters like the others, they’re just normal people. However, as was shown in Dressrosa where Usopp potentially awakened his observation haki, he has huge potential to be great, if only he believed in himself. When I considered Usopps character, I see myself and how much self doubt I’ve had to overcome and still do. Like him, I never thought I’d amount to anything but always dreamed of being great. I’ve made a lot of progress just like Usopp but the fear of hope is what sets me back. I think Usopps character is going to grow massively during the Elbaph arch and I think Loki might be a big factor in this.
For anyone who hadn't seen Saint Jay's "One Piece is Real", in his edition with recon they basicly point out how Jaya as an arc is the embodiment of "art imitates life" with Oda just off his biggest moment up to that point(Enis Lobby), his first thought was ti write an arc about dreams and imbewing how he felt at that time irl into the story. All that to say that I personally believe all the arcs where Usopp gets a big "Usopp Moment" are parts where all the themes of his charecter perfectly tie into and enhance the plot and themes of the arc. The perfect examples are W7/Enies Lobby, Skypia, and a little in Skypiea arguably, and ESPECIALLY Dressrosa. It's actually amazing how much this video recontextualizes the way Oda was able to tie all these things together. I could literally rant about just how amazing all the connections Oda makes are perfect in terms of just 1 arc based soley off this video, which goes to show how masterful Oda is when his Pen on Mera-Ifrit timing.
All that and I completely forgot to get to the main takeaway I got from this video. Usopp as a character conveys how we all try to make a name for ourselves, go down in history and live on for future generations through the medium of storytelling. TLDR Usopp is essentially a meta version of Inherited Will through storytelling which is exactly what Oda does as a living and he LOVES it.
I think Elbaph will be Usopp's arc like how I think egghead will ultimately be Franky's arc after watching your video. He will heroically save Elbaph and be recognized for it using his marksman skills like you said. I also think he will be the one to lead the straw hat fleet in the final war. It would be a surreal tale for him to star in. "The leader of the warriors in the war to free the world of oppression". That would be epic I think.
Usopp is one of my favs I just hope he gets proper limelight during Elbaf. Like I really expected Wano to be Zoro-centric, but Luffy always steals the show in the end
Honestly, wano arc is not finished yet...until it opens up fully. We might know more about zorro towards the end, hopefully. Or he would stay mysterious until the end.
Amazing video, as always! I really do feel like a proud parent whenever I think of Usopp, especially as a long ass time reader 😂 But seriously, watching him slowly but surely becoming the brave warrior he dreams to be, making an impact on the people around him, particularly when he's not trying to be "brave" and just being his kind, anxious, and creative self, is making my heart swell with pride and joy. 10/10 character imo and will forever root for him. P.s. Usopp mastering botany makes complete sense to me as well. He's always been handy and opted to using unconventional methods to fight. He seems quite confident being in the wilderness too (compared to Sanji or Nami, for example). Pretty sure he uses peppers and spices as weapons at some point too lmaoo
Im so glad to see somebody make a video on him! Ussop has been my favorite OP character ever since i started. I hope with all my heart that if we get a full Elbaf arc it will heavily focus on Ussop, just like Whole Cake was for Sanji. He really deserves it, by this point he achieved his dream, he is a brave warrior, but thats something he has to believe himself, until Ussop can himself believe his own lies his dream wont be achieved and I love that. Also if he actually gets conqueres it will be so funny lmao
The funniest headcanon for me it's the potential of Usopp, with the help of Nami and Zeus, pretend and lies as Thor, god of thunder, to aspire Elbaf giants
Considering the theory that Usopp's lies become true as the story progresses, I am genuinely convinced Usopp is going to awaken to his Conquerer's haki at some point. He claimed to posess CoC during the Raid on onigashima, and I genuinely feel like it could be true. We already know Usopp posesses quite powerful haki, like what he showed in Dressrosa, so I believe it's not really that much of a stretch, especially considering the fact that he's shown himself to posess the disposition and determination of a conqueror when push comes to shove.
@@paumen9330I love this. The only issue I could see with it is that I’m pretty sure Oda said Usopp would remain the weakest member of the crew by the end of the series
@@willpi6413 Are you sure, you know he is going to be a brave warrior of the sea, he must get stronger than chopper xD. But you know the Fude Fude no Mi could make him stronger but not overpowered and other memberd are also going to be tougher.
The three ways i see him getting to his dream is dying a brave warrior for his friends and family or being the one to stand up directly to Loki or one of the most powerful and intimidating giants in elbaf or reaching the one piece with the crew
This is why my favorite character is Usopp and I'm most excited for his dream. At this point everyone already knows Luffy will be Pirate King, it's already set in bedrock. However, if the man in the crew who's the most like me can achieve their grand impossible dream, it means I can too.
i doubt it would happen but knowing oda we all must remember the possibility that usopp ate a devil fruit at the start of the series that lets his lies become true (even if they take a long time)
I am currently engrossed in your content, and I must commend you on your exceptional storytelling abilities. Your script, or talk track, or outline (as each content creator has their own unique approach) displays remarkable forethought. Your passion for the subject matter, particularly in your portrayal of Usopp as a character, is palpable. Videos that provide viewers with a glimpse into the creator's persona tend to resonate profoundly, bridging the gap between audience and content creator. Regarding constructive input, it primarily pertains to your presentation. Your demeanor, much like that of Daulton and myself, exudes a relaxed and laid-back ambiance. To further enhance this ambiance, consider incorporating subtle background music or a soundtrack, as it seamlessly aligns with the overall mood. From the perspective of a listener, enjoying soothing melodies while absorbing a compelling theory narration enhances the experience. Another noteworthy aspect is your inclusion of yourself on-screen, which I find commendable. However, despite the visual engagement your presence brings, supplementing your content with images from the manga or clips from the anime can serve to captivate and entertain the audience. We come from an era of TH-cam where casual, unedited content could captivate viewers, who listened attentively to the spoken word. In contemporary times, particularly with younger viewers, it is prudent to inject occasional excitement into the content to prevent distractions. A subtle technique is to meticulously edit the initial 2-5 minutes of your video (depending on its length) to capture viewers' attention and instill a sense of commitment. I was already inclined to remain engaged after your introduction and groundwork for the discussion. However, viewers accustomed to TH-cam content resembling a student's project may require extra enticement to remain engaged. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed your content. It's been a while since I've spoken with such clarity and conciseness in my own video endeavors. Ultimately, the quality of your script takes precedence. People are keen to hear your thoughts, and if your insights are compelling, coupled with effective storytelling (which you have demonstrated adeptly), you will consistently attract an interested audience. The advice I offer pertains to the intricacies of 'playing the game' in the realm of TH-cam video production. I assume you aspire to grow your viewership to some extent, and if that's the case, these recommendations hold merit. I'm delighted to witness your debut in this endeavor. Now, allow me to hasten and complete my own anime episode 1 video; I'm approximately 11 minutes in. Your passion shines through brightly. I can discern your profound affection for Sogeking, your skill in connecting themes between him and the crew, and your extensive knowledge of the character. I'm thoroughly enjoying the video. I echo Darius's suggestion to incorporate panels or images at strategic junctures, and the inclusion of music is indeed a wise choice. You can readily find non-copyrighted music on TH-cam for inclusion in your videos (with a lowered volume, of course). Individuals with resonant voices like ours create a tranquil atmosphere. Hence, I recommend incorporating attention-grabbing elements within the first minute of your videos while maintaining your signature style thereafter. Darius also shared a valuable tip: being on camera allows you to reduce the need for extensive editing, focusing on enhancing specific segments with images or clips. So, don't hesitate to incorporate these elements. Lastly, continue to grow comfortable in front of the camera; I, too, am on a similar journey toward complete ease. It's a gradual process, but as you become more relaxed, your unique personality will shine through. Your video is exceptionally well-crafted thus far. Now, back to enjoying your content!
Real talk. I wish I was more like Usopp. Man knows where he is on the power scaling totem pole and he faces the insanity anyway. Low key, he's the bravest character on the whole ship (if not the show). Sure he complains, sure his knees shake, but bravery isn't the absence of fear. Its being there inspite of how much you just want to run away.
Usopp is very inspiring and without him we wouldn't have gotten this far. He's also one of Luffy's best friends those gag moments with Usopp and Chopper in East Blue are some of my fav clips to rewatch and laugh my ass off to. We got the Ace Novel now we need Usopp's Fables!!! 🔥
I really enjoyed your analysis of Usopp's character- he's always been my favorite straw hat, and I very much look forward to seeing his character arc come to a satisfying end!
I hope their time at Elbaf soon doesnt just turn into a reunion or fight with Shanks, Usopp is my favorite character and I can't wait to see what he accomplishes in Elbaf
Honestly, Luffy vs Shanks would very likely be a super wholesome fight. Not a fight to save the world, not a fight to save a nation or a friend. Just a friendly duel between Luffy and Shanks, for Shanks to see first hand how much Luffy has grown
I agree! I have a Nami video I plan on getting around to soon. Been more interested in doing these character analysis+theories lately, so hopefully you'll enjoy that one.
He is also one of the only 5 Straw Hats that can actually use Haki. Sure he can only use the color of observation and learned it in Dressrosa. But nonetheless the fact that he can use it and not the other members and members like Brook who has spent years sailing and figthing says alot.
Thank you for this my dude! I genuinely hope Usopp gets his moment again. Feels diff ever since post time skip, it maybe just his growth. But he has been my fav because he has been so relatable. ❤
The parallels to Don Quixote are always a bit uncomfortable, because the intent in which this character was written, the goal of the author back then, was to make fun of "nerds" (or the equivalent at that time), people who got so caught up in their books and fantasy that they lost touch with reality. Whereas One Piece in general and Usopp in particular are all about the importance of not limiting yourself to "reality", about how "reality" can be improved upon, but only if people are allowed to dream.
Only halfway through so I haven't seen your conclusion to all this which will probably be your original input to it but up till now it's a lot that was speculated and theorized for years now and I absolutely love all the theories... I personally always felt like oda WANTS usopps story to end in a sad but heroic way, that usopp (the boy who was always the embodiment around fear of death) will somehow die a martyr death to directly save his crews life (and therefore the whole world)... And I think he'll do it by lying and in the end he'll be so brave and so happy to give his life that he basically fulfills his dream like he could've never in any other way... He'll probably act cry while dying but be as brave as no one before him
The bittersweet feeling of watching a hidden island video is that i have 1 less documentary of the insight to the world of one piece to watch, but it was phenomenal. Truly blown away by the way you portrayed his character development and the challenges he overcame while staying true to his character as a lovable coward. He really is the epitome of courage doesn't mean the absence of fear; it means facing it despite the fear for the sake of people and dreams we cherish.
Wonderful video...The analysis is meticulous Usopp is and has always been my personal favourite character and u sir have thoroughly reminded me as to why that is in the first place...He Is very special in his own unique way and I agree that story telling isn't a one off but will prove to be an extremely important factor to the completion of his arc
You and GLR are the only TH-camrs I see doing the app thing right, theories yea, chapter stuff kinda, but it’s mainly just being a fan of the story with you guys, there’s no real “Type” of content it’s just OP stuff and I love that
Ok I must say, for Oda to take Don Quixote, and make 2 different charecters(one of who shares his name) parallel him in different ways, shows how Usopp might be his self insert(if we ignore shanks and gear 5). I believe the themes of the story are literlly being shown through Usopps mere existance and it just goes unnoticed due to *agendas*. You said "It's how One Piece even came to be" and that statement has multiple layers of truth to it(Hidden can really rap, that entandre got me). Not only is it literally how Oda even came up with the idea of the story(due to mainly Vicky the Viking, Toriyama, and well literally every source of literature out there at this point) but literally on the first page Roger says it and so does the chapter title. The ability to suspend your disbelief and dream is literally the reason the world is where it is right now. Man Oda is such a GOAT! Even when he's wack he's still spitting!
All that was basicly what I got from just 21:01-22:02. In One Minute you captured on of the beauties of One Piece on a Metatextual level effortlessly. I guess whatever Oda caught is contagious, Hidden's off that Dance Powder lined with Inherite D. Will! Or maybe he got some of that Jizzgate Juice from Mrs. Bakin
Bro!!! Props to whoever made that intro with " Usolando... God Usopp". It match the beat sooo well. And Thanks for the video. It was enjoyable. From a fan of Usopp
That has to be my FAVORITE prediction/theory ever in One Piece. How cool would it be for Ussop to have his great name remembered forever??? And by far this is one of the only theories that actually make sense and fall in line with Oda’s style of writing, down to Onion proclaiming his dream so early on. There can’t be a better ending for him.. unless Oda thinks of one lol. Btw you just gained a subscriber because of that
The video mentiomed botany as maybe being out of left field for Ussop, but pre-timeskip he always was cool with bugs. He's chill with them on Little Garden (while Sanji & Nami freak out when they first encounter creepy-crawlies). He even uses a Hercules beetle attack when fighting Perona in Thriller Bark (coincidence? Oda-sensei thinks ņot). It's consistent that as the crew member with the most to prove that he'd take an interest in botany, a skill lacking in the Straw Hats.
I like to imagine post series Usopp will return to Syrup Village and they will ask him where he disappeared to for a few years. He will obviously smugly tell them he travelled the grand line on the pirate kings crew. That he has a bounty worth hundreds of millions. That he is a brave warrior of the sea. Only to have them all laugh and go "Oh that's classic Usopp" and not believe him when he for the first time told them the truth. Then I imagine he will just laugh and go "You got me," while winking at Kaya and the kids who know he was telling the truth.

Usopps future sight has surpassed all others, Usopps range is yrs into the future.
@@eijiniizuma6184Real shit
Usopp wants to be someone he thinks is worthy of looking up to he just doesn’t realize he already is.
@@TheHiddenIsland- i understand that bro, i just stopped trying to predict things in one piece cuz i'm always so far off xD.
Just like I love to storytell your mom's sweet thang
Would be insane if Elbaf had tales of Usopp because hes been the one constantly saving the 5 giants we've seen.
DORRY BROGGY OIMO KASHII HAJRUDIN.
Like they all got saved by him. Like directly benefitted from his heroics.
Would be amazing to see them honour Usopp and excited to meet him while he himself thinks they are the ones who will inspire him
this is still possible
That last minute just made me realize than Usopp basically had his own "Nothing Happened" moment long before Zoro, with the added weight that keeping the event secret kept him looking 'bad' (cowardly / a liar) in the eyes of his village.
That's cool.
Had the same realization rereading Syrup Village a while back. Usopp is such a chad
Also in Dressrosa, none of the crew knows how Ussop saved Luffy from Sugar

You shouldn't forget that usopps place in the crew is a jack of all trades he may not be excelling in an area like the others but usopp is
A carpenter
Botanist(grows his pop green next to nami's orchard)
Hairdresser(Oda confirms he cuts the crews hair)
Handyman( whenever luffy wants something simple built like a fishing rod or some tennis rackets usopp provides)
strategist
Sniper
Artist(literally painted one of the most iconic jolly rogers in the series)
the guy is a bit llike sokka from Avatar. he doesn't excel heavily in any area but fails to see his usefulness compared to his peers who are damn near god level
Very well said, and the Sokka comparison is spot on
@@TheHiddenIsland- 100%
Fun fact: He's only missed his target 3 times in the whole series.
By chance. Usopp is still a coward, I’m sure he’ll die sacrificing his life for the crew to reach the One piece
@@AJ-ew7kr if this happens im dropping one piece

Ngl this video made me a bit emotional in some parts. Great stuff. Also, Tamanegi wanting to become an author and the lie of him and his friends about the pirates coming becoming true with Usopps return has me sold that the Usopps Fable book will happen. This is my head canon now.
Thanks bro! Once the tamanegi part hit me I just knew I had to make this video lol
I think Usopp is a fantastic character. He is so underrated.
He is so interesting , irritating sometimes, but like you said that feeling is probably because we see ourselves in him
Can’t wait for more content like this, you did such a fantastic job
The William Tell connection just vibes different and very Usopp
Thanks so much bro, your idea is great and I really appreciated this comment. He gets his bluff called by a true Elbaphian warrior and has to back it up? Brilliant
That reminds me of the Loguetown filler episode where Usopp gets his goggles after defeating an infamous bounty hunter in a sniping duel
@@bray2964That was a great moment, though sadly not canon. A moment like that would be perfect as a capstone!
It would be really cool it this is true and the giant who called his bluff was Prince Loki
Zoro is my favorite character but Usopp is easily the best written character in the series to me. Usopp sniping to save Robin from the Tower of Law is my personal favorite Strawhat moment.
best written character is Sanji by far.
I hope he's more like Jack Sparrow.
@@langadube9611 that works.
How can he call himself a brave warrior of the sea, if he hasn't even helped his Captain complete his quest yet? I think this is how Usopp feels.
Another Hidden W, to hear praise on my favorite character in the best way possible is a gift really.
Thank you brother, was one of my favorites to make
Usopp is very creative and it is a testament to usopp that he is able to be a jack of all trades. He built namis clami tact, patched the merry, commands the day to day of the crew a lot and is the grand fleets captain. He also wad able to assimilate and integrate new tech (dials) and learned advanced biology with his pop greens. Dude is no joke he is just on a team with a bunch of monsters. Even physically oda said he was alabasta zoro strength
thats actually still realm of super human strength, bro is him
Yeah, we cant compare him with the powerscale of the band, but he is useful as heck and the water 7 fight against luffy show us that he is a force to be recognized, hes basically batman from one piece, if hes prepared he can take it
Growing up in Greece, I would often listen to cassette tape recordings of Aesop's fables as my bedtime story.

Usopp always way my favorite mugiwara, as such i enjoyed every second of this. TY man
This is really well written.
Mine too! I agree with you.
for real! this explains it completely!
8:30 this part gave me chills, well done 👏 👏
If you already said this, forgive me. But I think a key factor in Usopp's transition into his dream is when his virtue of bravery ceases to be vanity. He wants to be a brave warrior not because he can not be anything else, but because he thinks that's what he should be. His heart isn't in it yet. Like a king who wants peace because his followers will revere him highly, instead of wanting safety and security for his people. When Usopp stops trying and simply is, is when he will achieve his dream in my opinion.
I remembered being the only kid in school thinking that usopp is amazing. I really loved how He cheered kaya up with his Storys. ❤
And, after all the adventures, the One Piece is just an Usopp's story and Laughtale is the place where everyone's sitting hearing him... The end.
lol i had a small jumpscare when you started talking about swiss folklore cuz as a swiss person i never imagined someone outside our small country would know about wilhelm tell much less talk about the myth in a one piece theory
Usopp will forever have my respect because Luffy and Law could be toys chillin on dressrosa right now but they ain't.
It is also worth noting that in norse culture, telling tall tales (being a skald) is something honorable
He's willing to fight for what he believes in against overwhelming odds no matter how scared he is, and that's the true definition of courage- not absence of fear, but overcoming fear.
finally got around to watching this one. great work man, i loved it
Usopp is what Batman would be logically. Overshadowed and working for his place. But awesome all on his own.
I’ve always recognized how relatable Usopp is, and that’s why he’s always been my favorite.
one piece theories shouldnt make me cry but "ussopp the hero" is beautiful
I love how in the most recent chapter, Ussop's dad is too afraid to meet him despite being a member of the red-hair pirates
I think Usopps character is going to grow massively during the Elbaph arch and I think Loki might be a big factor in this.
i don't understand why people keep calling usopp a liar, the man never said anything but the truth.
This is one of the best One Piece character analysis videos ive seen
Usopp is one of my favs
I just hope he gets proper limelight during Elbaf. Like I really expected Wano to be Zoro-centric, but Luffy always steals the show in the end
Yeah Ussop got Shino'd
Honestly, wano arc is not finished yet...until it opens up fully. We might know more about zorro towards the end, hopefully. Or he would stay mysterious until the end.
@@jacquesdaniels2435 We might, but Oda just dropped stuff about his ancestry elsewhere, so I am no sure anymore
Amazing video, as always! I really do feel like a proud parent whenever I think of Usopp, especially as a long ass time reader 😂
But seriously, watching him slowly but surely becoming the brave warrior he dreams to be, making an impact on the people around him, particularly when he's not trying to be "brave" and just being his kind, anxious, and creative self, is making my heart swell with pride and joy.
GOD USOPP shoutings in the background were synced perfectly with the beat❤❤
man, your intro really hooked me, but I'm only on ep 860 of the anime right now so saving this for later! can't wait to see what you have to say
Daks sake mentioned this video on one of his videos. I'm glad I subbed great video!
As a huge fan of Usopp this video made me genuinely so happy
Considering the theory that Usopp's lies become true as the story progresses, I am genuinely convinced Usopp is going to awaken to his Conquerer's haki at some point. He claimed to posess CoC during the Raid on onigashima, and I genuinely feel like it could be true. We already know Usopp posesses quite powerful haki, like what he showed in Dressrosa, so I believe it's not really that much of a stretch, especially considering the fact that he's shown himself to posess the disposition and determination of a conqueror when push comes to shove.
I still belive he will get the Ink Ink Fruit as his final power up. Its 100% fitting for him.
This is a cool idea, he's not a bad artist all things considered lol
@@paumen9330I love this. The only issue I could see with it is that I’m pretty sure Oda said Usopp would remain the weakest member of the crew by the end of the series
@@willpi6413 Are you sure, you know he is going to be a brave warrior of the sea, he must get stronger than chopper xD. But you know the Fude Fude no Mi could make him stronger but not overpowered and other memberd are also going to be tougher.
I like the idea of Ussop as the narrator bc it gives him a meta function that without it leaves him lacking on the strawhat crew
nahhhh
The three ways i see him getting to his dream is dying a brave warrior for his friends and family or being the one to stand up directly to Loki or one of the most powerful and intimidating giants in elbaf or reaching the one piece with the crew
This is why my favorite character is Usopp and I'm most excited for his dream. At this point everyone already knows Luffy will be Pirate King, it's already set in bedrock. However, if the man in the crew who's the most like me can achieve their grand impossible dream, it means I can too.
i doubt it would happen but knowing oda we all must remember the possibility that usopp ate a devil fruit at the start of the series that lets his lies become true (even if they take a long time)
I love to see videos about Usopp. Melon Teee and now you.
He is a great character despite being superhuman.
Man i love your intro to the videos and the chill music. Super videos keep it up.
Thank you so much for this, i have always ident'd with Usopp... You are the best! Usopp embodies the "imposter syndrome" the best!
I really enjoyed your analysis of Usopp's character- he's always been my favorite straw hat, and I very much look forward to seeing his character arc come to a satisfying end!
That was deep. Thanks for the video
Been waiting for this video! And it did not disappoint at all! Loved the video and loved the thumbnail great job
Nami is relatable to me. If Usopp is the everyman, Nami is the everywoman.
I agree! I have a Nami video I plan on getting around to soon. Been more interested in doing these character analysis+theories lately, so hopefully you'll enjoy that one.
@@TheHiddenIsland- based.

Nami is a thief that only cares about money tho

This video is incredible! Usopp is one of my favorite characters of all time.
Hey so I found ur channel while scrolling through TH-cam and not gonna lie love ur work dude keep it up
Awesome video mate, really enjoyed your breakdown of Ussop and his path towards heroism ❤🎉
Love this essay, thank you ☀️
love the introduction. i can tell you put real effort into your script and understanding the deeper narrative of the story. SUBSCRIBED! LIKED!
He is also one of the only 5 Straw Hats that can actually use Haki. Sure he can only use the color of observation and learned it in Dressrosa. But nonetheless the fact that he can use it and not the other members and members like Brook who has spent years sailing and figthing says alot.
5?
This character analysis is Goated
Love the effort you put into these videos
Thank you for this my dude! I genuinely hope Usopp gets his moment again. Feels diff ever since post time skip, it maybe just his growth. But he has been my fav because he has been so relatable. ❤
One of my favourite video essays ever
Wonderful video...The analysis is meticulous
Usopp is and has always been my personal favourite character and u sir have thoroughly reminded me as to why that is in the first place...He Is very special in his own unique way and I agree that story telling isn't a one off but will prove to be an extremely important factor to the completion of his arc
Absolutely amazing video, I had never thought of usopps plant abilities that way before! Most deserved subscription of all time lol
You and GLR are the only TH-camrs I see doing the app thing right, theories yea, chapter stuff kinda, but it’s mainly just being a fan of the story with you guys, there’s no real “Type” of content it’s just OP stuff and I love that
Just like I did your mom's thing right
@@goldeneaglereborn You’re twelve with a dick the size of a cashew, idk why you decided to comment but like …. Shut up 😭
Usopps always been my favorite I love him and honestly I do relate to him in so many ways
Bakin
12:40 "and even if your name was never meant down to go down in storybooks" is such a cold line, nice work
Your videos are goated bro. Love every one of them
Bro!!! Props to whoever made that intro with " Usolando... God Usopp". It match the beat sooo well. And Thanks for the video. It was enjoyable.
From a fan of Usopp
I always thought that Ussop would gain his title from defeating a giant with a single shot from his slingshot just like David and Goliath.
