I can see this took a very long time to record and edit. Most thorough and helpful insight into this Swiss Army Knife of combos. Thanks much.

Cheers for sharing your thoughts, I look forward to the rest of the videos in this series. I totally agree with you concerning Boss not being very clear concerning certain elements of the amp. That said, the pluses far outweigh the minuses and it is a cracking amp for the money. For rock bass and more attack-orientated tones, I really do recommend looking into the limiter options as opposed to a compressor which I use more for deeper reggae/dub tones .

Thanks Aaron! I'm glad you're into the series, I will give the limiters another go, I just need to find the right application for them I think!

Thank you for a geek squad level demonstration of this amp. Far too often we are tortured with demos that only show “what” the amp sounds like but very few demonstrate “how” to get the most out of it. The unboxing videos are a complete waste of time. Thanks again.

thanks for putting tis up Alfie, much more useful than a straight review. All the way through the drive test I was thinking "there really needs to be a RAT in there!"

Thanks Alan! Couldn't agree more, in the newest episode I said as much! Great minds 🤓

I asked Alex Websters technician/luthier/repair & mod guy if there is a bass compressor that he would recommend & he said without hesitation the Seymour Duncan Bass Compressor pedal. I'm interested to try it along with my SansAmp VT bass pedal (the original pedal without the XLR out - the Character Series) to see how that effects my sound. I've never had a standalone bass compressor in my 30+ years playing so I can't wait to try it. Cheers!

Thanks for making this series your helping me to understand what the effects on this amp even do. The product manual is extremely vague when it comes to that, great amp for home practice nonetheless.

Thanks Saul! I was hoping it would help someone as the manual does leave a lot out!

Interesting video. Thankyou for showing how you’ve sculpted your Katana.
Despite the very useful addition of FX on this amp I’m not really sure why Boss are calling it a modelling amp, as it doesn’t really seem to actually directly aim to model specific amps. It gives three basic settings: Vintage, Flat and Modern. These are reasonably sounding settings. Which I suppose for some would be enough. But it’s certainly not amp modelling to me. Certainly not in the way Fender seem to have managed to do.
Still, the general sounds are good and it’s clear that we can all get something usable.
60 watts of “A/B” power will no doubt move more air than say Fender studios 40 watts of “D”power stage.
The Boss Katana certainly looks gigable. I’m trying to talk myself into getting the Boss Katana 110 or 210 to replace my Ashdown Mag 180 that am aiming to replace, but not quite succeeding yet to convince myself that the Boss is a better option than the Fender Rumble Studio (40). At least not yet.
One thing is certain I am looking forward to more sculpting videos for your Katana.

Thanks Paul! I haven't heard BOSS call the Katana a modelling amp, if so I would highly disagree! It's not at all. I hope you find the right amp for you, let me know which one you do get!
