  • The Boss Bass Katana is an incredible amp, especially for practicing and recording bass.
    In this demo, you'll hear six different tones this bass amp can reproduce. I'll also demo Boss' excellent Tone Studio software which makes dialing in your bass tone as easy as anything.

    I have the Katana 110 and it is indeed a lot of fun to play around with. I run my laptop through it using it as a monitor for working on your lessons running backing tracks and such. Great channel!!

    That is killer amp. Love the fact that you dont have to have a bunch of pedals with you all the time when traveling to a practice session.. make life a little more simple.. thanks for Sharing..

    The earliest use of effects on a bass that I can think of is Geezer Butler who used a wah pedal in 1970 on Black Sabbath's first album. The track is N.I.B.

    You and your Studio Rats brethren are really getting me curious about the entire Boss Katana range now. I was sold on this one from the Anthony Jackson/O’Jays demo tone. The Flea tones sound great too!

    Good review and good amp. I have the Fender Rumble Studio and Stage 800 and fantastic amps. Prefer them over Boss for the ability to create and store presents. Also the small digital screen makes it easy to select. The Boss is easier for tweaking tones on the fly, but the Fender isn't too difficult but does require more time to learn how to tweak tones. 👍

    Hi Dan, I used the harmonist to produce a quick-and-dirty Royal Blood type effect. I set the Blend dial to about 55, add some distortion and apply the Harmonist to add an octave: Voice: 1 Voice; HR1 Harmony: +1 Octave; HR1 Level: 70; HR1 Pre Delay: 0ms; HR1 Feedback: 0; Master Key [as per song]; Direct Mix: 100. I tried using the octave effect, but felt I got better results using the Harmonist (well... less bad results, at least).

    Thanks for demoing this. I was looking into a new amp as I only have a boring Fender Rumble 100. Saw this one at a local shop but I walked out with a Doug Wimbish Spector instead. 😀
    I assume the XLR out captures all of the effects and sound of the amp since that's how you said we're hearing it here.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Sounds amazing Dan & beautifully presented brother. That digital delay is awesomely dreamy! So you were fully controlling from software you downloaded from the site provided yea? I'm also in an apartment & have to be noise conscious, so this would be perfect. You mentioned the model you were using was a 12 inch vers but I could only find the 10 inch vers (Boss KTN110B Katana 110) & the 2 x 10s. Anyway, time to trade up from my scratchy crappy ole 80's daisy chained Boss pedals lol. Thanks for sharing, awesome job as usual mate 👍🙏🎵🎸

    I agree with the commenters here, can you do a “deep dive” series on the Katana bass? The manual kind of sucks and I would like to know how to use it in a practical setting. I end up just messing around not really knowing what i am doing.

    Hi Dan, I was thinking about buying this amp, but do you think it would be good for playing in something like a small venue or a church-like setting, for example? I'm in highscool and am looking to get a genuine amp I can use, and this amp has all the effects and digital out and everything. just wondering about gigworthiness? (btw, your lessons have helped me so much with learning how to play, thank you)

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! Glad you like the lessons. I’d say get the 2x10 to be safe for gigs. This smaller one could work but if the stage volume is loud, it might get lost.

    Guy actually has a video where he shows how he played like a prayer. Unfortunately he did those lockdown licks only during that time. It would have been interesting to see how to set this amp up with a laptop. Maybe even a Chromebook. But would you necessarily need a laptop though?

      It would certainly give you many more options and sounds and would be great for live work (which you could use with other amps that don’t have onboard effects). If it’s just for practice then you probably don’t need it although you can use your feet to change sounds which is always useful and fun!
