Not bad with stock pickups I will say. But I'm sure you can get a much better sound and tone with better quality pickups for the Aerodyne. I'm thinking Seymour Duncan's would be excellent, but it is your bass in the end.
ALFIIIIEEE! I’ve been considering getting one of these Katana bass amps. Not really gonna be used for touring, but for playing local gigs, varied genres, and do I really need the bigger wattage amplifier?! 😏
I have am aerodyne that was owned by Duff Mckagan. It came with a custom neck from mike lull and dimarzio pup's. It instantly regulated my usa jazz bass with dimarzio ultra j pups to backup duty.
No no, please tell me all about it! I need ideas! It's a shame that everyone who has an Aerodyne says they had to mod it to improve it. It's not a good sign! But at least it can be improved. Tell me more! What you go?!
@Which Bass I immediately replaced the stock bridge (crap) with a Babicz bridge. That bridge definitely brought it to life. Then, I dropped in my favourites... Bartolini P/Js. Oddly enough, they fit way better than the sock PJs (Ergo, smaller gaps between the body & pickup housing. At that point, it surpassed my expectations (sound wise). I thought I was done & dusted until I realised I had a spare Graphtec Jazz nut. It didn't fit (depth wise) but I had a piece of purple heart wood vaneer, so I used it as a shim. The tuners aren't exactly the "creme de la creme" but after fitting the Graphtec, I haven't had to tune it in over 3 months. Seriously. The Babicz & extended string length gave it grand piano like sustain, but the Graphtec took that even further. All in, I've put approximately £350 of upgrades in... but it now plays & sounds like a bass I would've easily paid £1.5k over what I did to have it. You're more than welcome to have a go on mine before making any of the upgrades I have. Call it a professional courtesy👍
Years ago I ordered the bass and before I even received it I had geezer butler emg's dropped in it. I also added a high mass bridge and a drop tuning trigger on the e string Bass sounds great
You want to make your mind up what sound your looking for and what context with other instruments you are all over the place plug it in a standard amp set at 12 0 clock and learn to play!
A lot of great advice here! Just got mine had it set up and new strings. I want to play it a bit before mods but I’m definitely feeling a new bridge maybe Gotoh and possibly new pick ups.
What do you want to see next? A Bass Rig or a Hack for the ATK 305?!
Let's see you do a hack for the ATK 305!
I no longer have my ATK300, but I plan to get one again. Let's hear what you have to say about the ATK305!
Just so it's three for three, hack the ATK 305 next please?

Good call Deadmandillion, I did have my eyes on the Seymour Duncans, not feeling EMGs etc. We'll see!

I wouldn't dare bore you with the details, but...
...I did some basic mods & now it's an absolute legend. My go to bass for sound now.
😁👍

Tom Brantley at Brantley rewinds is you man for pickups.
I have them in 4 fenders and they are incredible.
He winds Geddy Lee's
I haven't heard of those, I shall definitely give them a look see! Thanks Evan!
@@WhichBass Tom's a lovely helpful guy too
@@WhichBass Brantley rewinds is where to go.
What I would love to see is a hack in regards to speakers

Bass sounds great
Oooff that sounds killer! I hope you enjoyed it! I would like to see what the GZR pickups are like 🤩

OK thanks!
COOL , IT SOUNDS GOOD TO ME ALFIE
Thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed it!
Dimarzios are the way to go for your Aerodyne
I shall check out the Dimarzios! Thanks Klay!

Could you do a Jared hasselhoff bass rig video?
That would be fun! Great suggestion thanks Joey!
@@WhichBass I think it would be a real fun video to make, he’s a pretty wild guy, Thank you for replying
You should try the Billy Sheehan Relentless pickups. The best I've heard, DiMarzio has a winner.
Whoa they sound killer! That is the tone I'm looking for! Good call!
I love mine! Your review helped guide me to it! I got the pickups upgraded, a new bridge, and tuners. Used Delano pickups!
That's fantastic Chris, I hope you're enjoying the bass! I think a new bridge and pickups are the way to go! I'll check out Delano pups.
Sounded great, man, I do agree that the pickups did seem a bit hot in terms of output but you definitely got some great milage out of it at the end
Thanks Andrew, it's getting there! I do think upgrading the pickups will tame the beast!
