    Here's a fourth thing (that should be number one) you should do, if you use the Cue mixes in the ControlRoom to record live musicians (or whatever you use to feed the headphones).
    I ALWAYS put a fast brick wall limiter on the cue mex output (in the last slot). That way you don't run the risk of damaging the musicians hearing, should a loud noise such as feedback to a spike accidentally occur. This can happen and it's great NOT to have a deaf musician as a result.

    Supervision should be before Sonarworks in Control Room

    Useful stuff! For reference, time is displayed as hours:minutes:seconds:frames (not milliseconds)

    While a buffer size of 256 is usually adequate for recording certain instruments, the Constrain Delay Compensation button is usually a much more elegant and accurate solution.

    Dude, your tutorials are absolutely the most helpful I have ever seen. Better than groove 3, Udemy, and even cubase official.
    I have a question for you. I have like 50 billion loops in various keys and tempos. I am not a music theory master. Is there any video or something you can recommend on how to make a loop match the key of the song? Also, how do I even know what key I'm in? I just do stuff by ear and don't know the technical terms.
    Thanks!

      I thought it was overly verbose, like almost 4 mins just to mention that duration is useful for the zoom level.

    Thanks for the tips! My Cubase came with about 13 minutes of built in song length, and a start time of about 10 minutes. I have no idea why. You reminded me to go fix this mess. I write songs between 3 & 5 minutes so I don't think I need 7 thousand bars. The limiter suggestion below for the cue mix is welcome as well. Thanks!

    I dont know if you already made a video about this, but I would like to know how to use a second computer configuration. I mean, like the one you describe, with the instruments in a separate computer.
    Thanks!

    Great video John. Question: When I set my time code at cursor 1 I don't see the 0 before it. Would that happen to be I have adapt to zoom on instead of beat? I'm so glad I found your channel. You explain everything in great detail. Keep up the fantastic work you're doing! !!!

    Man, this has always annoyed me for so long i cant even remember, i've been using cubase for about 15 years, and you're the only one who talked about it so far (and i've watched dozens of videos about this daw)
    Thanks so much, bro! advice worth hundreds of likes and followers! Just saved the year!
    Do you know if is there any substitute for the Project Browser in the cubase 13? (helped a lot with automation and visualization of the project, so sad that it's gone)
    Cheers form Brazil

    I think Cubase will automatically adjust buffer size (i.e. latency) in the future, based on what you're doing (recording, mixing...)

    Thanks for this! The project setup duration tip is great! Would be great if there were a way to set that as a preference for every project, maybe I just can't find it. It does seem thought that when I set the duration to a lower amount (like 3 min as you suggest) and save that as a template, upon opening the template it remembers the shorter duration. Anyway, thanks for posting the tips!

    • @creatiw
      @creatiw ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have this set to 3min and it remembers that each time

      @Johnmunstudios  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes templates are a great way to save this type of modification! I constantly deal with different durations so this is something I use a lot!
      I'm glad it helped!

    Unfortunately I don't know English terminology much so I will say it as I can. Long wave sample, you cut it to be a bar long let's say, I need to drag the whole wave inside that bar. I've seen a guy doing it and I couldn't allow myself asking him which key or command he's holding to do that. I also seen few more stuff he does I can't explain I'm sorry.

    Why do cubase feels like a child's toy? Like it's not serious at all.
