Man your content is always spot on ! I've been using Cubase for almost 20 years now and I love how every time I watch one of your videos I always learn something incredibly useful. Cheers !!
Ole ! Chris, excellent. Very practical, and well explained. Thousands of tricks in Cubase. I love Cubase and I love your videos. Not too large which is good. But very valuable.
Again, useful tricks, thank you! :D As for the auto-fade, I suspect I had enabled it in my main template at some point, because I haven't heard any clicks for months by now. I forgot about it, but now it makes sense. Many sample starts/ends used to click a lot in the past, I had to manually treat them.
first 30 seconds of the video, I'm laughing, I'm smiling, I'm actually shedding tears..... WHERE HAS THIS BEEN FOR THE LAST DECADE!!!!!!! the amount of time I've manually moved everything one by one to slot some space in....oh wow
Tanks Chris, always THE MAN when it come to CB. One question: I'm trying to set up a macro or find a shortcut for resetting all the meters of my mixer. Say I want to start fresh a session, is there a command that brings all the meters down to nothing (not zero=unity point) so I can start moving meters again and start remixing? Thanks
Hello Chris! First of all thank you for everything you're teaching us on cubase! Every single video has something that i always use eventually. Now, i have a question regarding something that i saw you or, i think i saw you doing in one of your videos but cannot find it. I think i saw you changing the visual of an audio event from stereo to mono or vice versa. Do i remember correctly or not? Is that possible?
Cool video Chris, tnx 👍🏾 I used macros for de essing on my old Mac, but now on my Mac studio dir some reason I'm not able to assign key command for my macros.
Im new in cubase... Need a way to mute a track (fade down to zero) without effecting the mixer console... in FL studio I used a simple Stock EQ and automated that gain nope down to zero. You dont want to automated the mute or fader cuz it will affect the mixer console and keeps me from using it. Or can I somehow constrain the automation clip to just affect a short part of the song? Like cutting the automation off.
Strange thing, when I click CTRL-SHFT and selecting, it overwrites the snap to grid. Is it true for everybody? If it is, I wonder why Steinberg did this. Comme toujours, super tuto, Chris. J'attrape toujours deux-trois trucs qui accelerent mon workflow.
brilliant....users of studio one ...have already got this by virtue of highlighting in arrangement a section n' simply clicking copy...until i saw this vid a couple of weeks back..i didn't know how to do in cubase....it was as easy as pie to make the macro and even easier in cubase 12 to map it to a controller..one button n' bang...instant arrangement ease...that's of course if you're working in linear inside the arranger view...but still cubase's arrange track is a total killer...n' studio one users don't have that by a long shot.....well in version 6 at least....another reason to move from other daw's to cubase...
Thank you for your excellence content! I find it useful to create a Track Folder called “All” and create (or drag in) all tracks within it. This way I can make fast and easy edits to the whole project, and I find it easier than using the Arrange function, or range editing. Also makes it easy to copy 2 or 3 versions of the song further down the timeline to experiment on, or to let a player do multiple takes without using cycle recording.
This is such a fantastic channel! Thank you so much for all the great tipps and information. I learn a lot about Cubase and I've been using it since version 4. Greetings from Germany
select all tracks in range on mac (for me anyway) is Option Shift, not command shift. Not sure if there is a pref but that seems to be the correct keys on MAC
Do you have Cubase Pro 13? I just got it, and I am CLUELESS, I know NOTHING, never heard of DAWS before... No idea how to use....Hoping to learn alot from you... just subbed
I like your stacked PC monitors. Are they 27" ones? What brand and model? And what pole mount? ALSO: I'm loving your course: The Ultimate Guide to Cubase. It's worth every cent for the time it is saving me as this 36-year veteran of Cakewalk/Sonar learning to translate my skills to Cubase Pro 12.
Hi Chris, just to save time, are these options only available in Cubase Pro? I’m using Cubase Artist 11. Always useful, I think, to state which Cubase versions these features are available in. Many thanks.
I think that you mean "Shift+erase" not "Shift+delete" for the Cut or delete time , I tried it and it works with that shortcut (with the back arrow erase key on top right of all keyboards I mean, not the small delete key, at least in spanish, deletee is for the small over the arrows keys, and arrowback erase is the one I also see is on the shortcuts list). Also to use the range tool in windows and get all the tracks selection its ALT + Shift, dont know if Mac uses cmnd anyway.... Great tips!!! Thank you!!
Slip editing would be cooler if it could also snap to quanitze settings. That autofade setting is very handy, thanks for that. Most of my macros do zooming and visibility functions for easier navigating. With a tablet and TouchOSC I can activate them pressing a button. What I also use very often is colouring all my groups-, fx-, master-, rearbus-, stems channels and Folder tracks to the proper colour with one touch of a button. 😝
If you want to set it up, heres the following macro commands: Quantize slip left = Nudge start left, nudge end left, nudge right....then set up another macro with the opposite "left is right, right is left" for the slip right. Nudge setting has to be on "link to grid" for this to work but its very useful and fun to mess with for choppy sample stuff
No, I'm screen recording with another software, and record my audio on a separate external recorder, But I just bought "Loopback" for Mac for my live streams, and it works very well
Chris, thanks for the awesome videos. MIX or maybe mastering question: My mixes sound great in my monitors and headphones. Then I play them on my phone by itself and there's almost no bass. What do I do???
You won't find lots of bass on phone speakers by nature. Compare your mix with a Pro Commercial Mix that you use as a reference. Chances are that the Pro Mix will also lack of bass on your phone, in this case, don't worry about it!
When you cut or copy using global range, does the automation get copied as well? I just want to verify that all automation will be included in these range functions.
Go to Project, then Project Colors Setup... (or Option+Shift+S), then choose the second tap called "Presets", Select 32 in the Number Of Basic Colors option, Select 4 in the Number Of Colors Tint and that's it.
Just watching the video, even if I’m not a cubase user. In Studio One we have the Arranger track who let us set some range as arranging range and when you cut, duplicate, move or whatever you do to the arranger track it makes follow everything inside this range. So basically it is really fast to make an arrangement when you have your main section by duplicating, copying and then tweaking each section.
First you should be sure that you don't have any track locked or freezed. I notice that when you use the Command+Shift option in order to select everything the snap option doesn't work, it should be slaved the same way when you use the single selection.
That's a different tool, and a good one, but reality is that most people don't use it much, including myself. Setting up the Arranger track after the fact, for this purpose takes too much time :-)
Top-notch tips there Chris! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Use the Fader out of Studio EQ, that will do it 🙂
