ON CLOUDFLOW 4 REVIEW - THE BEST ON RUNNING SHOE YET? - EDDBUD
An initial review of the new ON CLOUDFLOW 4 a great light and nimble show with lots of versatility.
We have a cloudtech plus a nylon speedboard along with some helion foam to cushion the landings.
Where does this shoe fit in the ON running shoe selection?
This is a shoe that i have been sent by ON but they are not paying me to making this video nor will they see it before i launch it to my viewers.

Here in Dublin, On shoes available are mostly the ones marketed for "urban running" which combined with the lofty price tag has obviously appealed to...drug dealers. Consequently when I bought a pair my son asked me "why did you buy drug dealer shoes?". lol
Urban running? As in road and pavement? That’s the most popular type of running here
@@EDDBUD Sure, which is why it's such a weird marketing term. I don't know what On mean by "ultimate urban running" but here it's been interpreted by the market as "running away from the cops". 😄
@@johnl.7582 🤣
Haha- got the canada goose or moncler jacket to go with them?
Edd! Thank you for your comment about cushioning! I agree runners should be more concerned about their physical and mental abilities to run a marathon or any race for that matter than the cushioning of their shoes.
100%
Running in the previous cloudflow currently and I must say I love it for my faster efforts. Nice to hear this version is still nimble enough to get up and boogie! Will be looking to this when my current one is due to replace for now though I will enjoy my current flow state. 🙂👟☝️
Yeah it’s a nice smooth ride and light and nimble enough for most things
I received my On Cloudflow 4s last week and have done a couple of short runs in them. I like them. They are very comfortable. They are a bit firmer than some other offerings, but I don't like a lot of squish in my shoes. I plan on using these for a lot of my training. I also have a pair of On Cloudrunners which are more of a daily trainer/easy run shoe. I also have some On Cloudultra 2s for trail use. I didn't mean to get a rotation of Ons, but I find them comfortable on foot and I've tried A LOT of shoes lately.
Thanks for this review! I’m grateful that On has several lower stack height shoes. I liked the original Cloudrunner up to about 8 miles. I really wanted to like the Cloudstratus, but find it sloppy and slow. I’ve been wearing Cloudultras for everything lately-they’re amazing. Hoping the Cloudflow 4 will be my new go-to for road runs. Also hoping they’ll fix the tongue issue. It’s not like tongue padding adds that much weight!
Just got a pair of the Cloudsurfer 7's...love them so far.
Love mine too
I use the On CloudUltra's for my trail runs. By far my favourite pair of trails shoes to date. They just seem to get better and better the more I use them. On the flip side. I bought a pair of CloudFlyers and took them back after 45K as they were way too stiff, flat footed and gave me real lower leg aches. Looking forward to getting a pair of these bad boys though :)
Bit more stack here by the looks.
One of the best of last year
Looking forward to this!
🥈
Thanks Edd.
You are very welcome
Ive allways heard these very bouncey springy edd but what puts me off is the comfort on these shoes as i do lot long distances but im definitely planning on getting some these ive got double marathon on race track next week which takes me 129 marathons these would good for road race and race track definitely not off-road shoe 👍👍
The FOD runner has been using these for 15 mile long runs with pace too!
Had a few a on shoes and now just stuck on the monsters which are very nice to run in
Yeah people are quick to say they aren’t “runner shoes” when they clearly are.
I actually liked the Cloudsurfer.
Quick point, the top layer of foam actually IS the Helion HF you mentioned, but I'm hearing consistently that it doesn't quite perform as well as the Helion HF in their racing shoes. Perhaps it would be superior if the Helion HF layer was a bit thicker, or if a greater percentage of the forefoot were made entirely of the Helion HF
On their spec sheet it doesn’t say that. It says it’s the standard helion foam.
I would love to try this one but I need a wide shoe, like the Cloudstratus 2. On Running should bring a wide version.
I would imagine they will introduce this soon
Have you heard about the Cloudeclipse Edd? Coming out in the next couple of weeks. Sorta looks like a ForeverRun competitor? A higher stack Cloudsurfer but with the speedboard
Interesting. They are experimenting with all sorts of styles
I love firm shoes, and I love this model. I use this as a daily trainer on a paved beach path, about 60 mpw and I'm loving them after 200 miles.
It’s one of those nice lightweight options which isn’t too max stacked
not firm enough for me! but i love it did a quick review...will hold onto it...wish it were even firmer!
@@theDestinationisnow. me too. I wish it was firmer and that the stack height was lower too
@@eliasmunoz5284 IM LEARNING ABOUT RUNNING I RAN the half marathon here in nyc over 15 years ago so getting back into running...slowly lol what shoe do you recommend for even firmer??
@@eliasmunoz5284 what does stack height mean?
Could you do a review of the Air Jordan 4 in the background? Looks fantastic.
I was just thinking the SAME THING!!!!
I have quite the collection. Will perhaps do a top non running shoe video.
Jordan 4, 5, and 6 were the loves of my junior high school years 😍
Thanks Edd, can’t wait. Love your channel. Keep up the good work. @@EDDBUD
Hey mate love your videos. I have really wide forefoot. What brand(model) makes the widest forefoot running shoes that you've come across?
Widest probably new balance and some of the 361 shoes.
First run in my 5th pair of React Infinity v1s today, needed the cushion after a lot of running over the weekend.
If you're in to your vinyl I could send you a free Kylie Minogue LP.
Vinyl just sound so much better... Like it's alive. ❤
Just don’t fit any dodgy radios into your bus.
@@EDDBUD "...I think it’s unfair to say that everything he touches goes wrong!" 🚌💥🤣
YWGO get it 😉

Do you know if the upper holds the ankles so well that no little stone could enter inside the shoes and bother my runs ? ! The On Cloud Eclipse has that " hugging ankles upper" and it is amazing fit that it is totally the opposite that happens in shoes like the Invincible 3 or Adios 7 .
Thanks.
That’s actually very true
Love mine so far much better than the previous model
Great review, I have ordered them. Got a good price €135. How comparable to the Speed 2? I am getting hip pain after the run from soft midsole (heel) lately.. Alphafly V1 and New Balance SC Trainer V2 seem to be causing the problem.. Metaspeed Sky Plus or Boston 12 seem to fix it.. Very strange? I am a heel striker and slow runner..
Speed 2 is more nimble again and a bit more energy return
@@EDDBUDSpeed 2 still in my Rotation👌
Mine too, legendary shoe, convinced it helped me break 20min in park run🎉
@@bobwood4304congrats!
How does it compare to the Cloud Phase Tec in the Cloudsurfer 7 Edd?
One shoe I haven’t tried in fairness. Though everyone says I would like it!
ON sell a lot of shoes here in the UAE. Very expensive. And the buyers are not runners.
More people using them here for all sorts.
Most models they make are for casual wear.
@i.p2808 ON - Swiss Performance Running Shoes, as it states on their website yes.
@@i.p2088 there’s now around 5 that are good running options.
@@EDDBUDhmm 5… Monster, Boom…. I count 2
By the way... How do they compare to the Brooks Hyperion?
Hyperion is lighter still and more conventional.
I recommend the Hyperion Max. Even better than the 2 Hyperion Tempos I went through!
I have exactly 1 ON shoe, the cloudsurfer..probably won't get another..that one went flat around 50 miles..probably would be a good every day shoe but not a running shoe..
Same. I have the Cloudsurfer too and feel the same way.
Fill these holes with gel, put an asics logo on it and I'm in! 😂
Gel will make it a bit too solid
@@EDDBUD i am joking of course
Do these still have the speed board ?
Yes it does.
Is the tongue sewed on or will it move around when we walk?
It has a lace loop. Don’t recall it moving around too much
@@EDDBUD Alright thanks a lot
Does it come in 4E extra wide
Don’t think they have wide versions
The fabric looks all bunched and lumpy on the front?
It’s fine on foot. Maybe I didn’t stick the card in quite right. What matters is how they are in use.
@@EDDBUD I dunno, if I am paying £150 for a shoe I'd quite like one without camel toe 😂
@@TheAlanb85 it’s fine. It’s just the card bit I stuck in there
I’m before the online running commentary community shits on these before ever even trying them and/or getting sexist calling them “soccer mom shoes”
Don't forget the Lululemon moms who frequent Starbucks. lol
Soccer mom shoes.
@@mintymusur cute
I look at those and I see knee pain and a 200 mile lifespan. Nothing would make me try them - even if they were good value which they aint
There’s far worse if you want knee pain. I can name shoes for you if you need them.
Fashion shoes for the instagram brigade.
Have you worn them?
@@EDDBUD I’ve tried their running shoes (not this one) and walking boots, not for me. Too firm and no real structure or guidance. I was always picking stones out and getting muck out of the holes. All the kids are wearing them now though, so quids in for ON.
I've had the Flow 2, retired them after about 100k, and relegated them to daily use instead. Not enough cushion for the modern market methinks
Not for me thanks
