Looking forward to your Superblast 2 review.
You and me both!
Got the Saucony Pro4 a while ago , just love them , 10k or Half , quick , comfortable , & look awesome
You’re not alone. Several consecutive rejections for me too. Great review as usual
Thank you!
Good evening young man - bronze medal 🥉
Just came back from a run in your top pick this morning. The Sky Paris is an absolute dream shoe. Perfecto! Will be getting the Deviate Nitro Elite 3 in the future. Have a great week Edd!
Enjoy!
As a 6’3” 172 lbs stick insect myself that Adidas SL2 looks to have plenty of cushion for me for pretty much all my runs. Thanks!
That’s how I see myself! 🤣👍🏼
Dankeschön 🙏 Puma and Adidas sound very interesting. For my easy runs I use the Gel Nimbus 25 and the Invincible 3. For faster runs or intervall, I love the Tri Noosa 15. Street to Trail I like my Nike Pegasus Trail 4.
44th place. Top 50 performance of which I take great pride. 🏆
I'm tempted to buy the white sl2 - as all of my trainers are now white (nimbus mirai, nova and kayano) but I love the vibe from your colorway. Seems like they're releasing the other colors per region for that model. Thanks for the review Ed!
Get it... it's awesome in white....I get compliments on it when I run and it's a superb ride...can do it all...I also have the carbon colour for contrast ...also looks great
Weymouth mention! I'm going to get the SL2 and the Nitro 3, I think. (Also got my 'not this time' email).
Best bit of the whole video - Michael Elphick as BOON.
Good spot!
Thx Edd! Considering Endorphin Pro 3/4 for fall marathon. Might stick with my SC Trainer V2 tho. It’s my old reliable! Need to try Pumas but they don’t do 1/2 sizes in my giant 12.5 range.
I don’t think you would have a problem with the 13 pumas imo, just going by my own experience with multiple pumas v many other brands, loving my puma magnify size 12 could go to 12.5 no problem if they had them and I would, hope that helps, puma are always underrated ,best bang for buck by far if you buy when discounted, good luck.
Only a couple runs in, but the mizuno wave rebellion flash 2 is getting a lot of love from me. Seems to suit my gait nicely at a range of paces.
And on my preferred surface, the north face Vective enduris is still an all time classic.
I love the Sky Paris. But I’m running next marathon in the Puma. Much more stable. Can’t afford any more race shoes!
Puma underrated, best bang for you buck and the nitro foam is superior to most ,cheers.😁
You running on the DN or DNE?
I was tempted to buy the Edge Paris (which worked best for me testing both versions) but am sticking with my new unused Endorphin Pro 3 bought almost half price for my upcoming marathons for the same reason--more stable, plus I had a huge PR in them, so if it ain’t broke….etc.
@@jrabzkie Elite
Great video
Thanks for the visit
I love the football references! ⚽💯
For me so far till i get my superblast 2 the best shoes have been the sl2 and the rebel v4. I tried the neo vista and that went back as it was just like running in mud
The blaster could be good. But I fear more weight takes it to a place I don’t wanna go
Woohoo! Sky Paris for the win. I used mine to run yet another BQ. Also, it's training partner, the Magic Speed 4, arrives in the mail next week. Yay me! Thanks, Edd.
I got my MS4 pair just last week. Managed to track some miles on it and I already love it! Fast and (seems to be) a very durable shoes 👏
I must say (and as recommended by your good self!) that the Brookes Hyperion Max is a superb shoe! Far better than I was expecting, very light, good cushion and all for less than 100 earth credits! 👍
Super shoe. Hope the v2 is just as good
Hi Edd, you must test the New Mizuno Neo Vista... I got a pair a few weeks ago and WOW!, the smoothest run ever.. Just a magical shoe IMO and a contender for the shoe of the year... Highly recommended
This hall of fame alas only provides the Pro 4 for my Flintstone wide feet. Any chance of a Flintstone top 5? Great video as always.
Yeah the super shoes are always narrow
I bought the puma DN2 based on your recommendation and have done over 1000km so far. Holding up well, if not quite as lively as when new. Outsole very good for that distance. Thanks for the recommendation
Brilliant shoe and a worthy trainer too
Thanks, great review! Btw, i purchased a new pair of Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 3, and in my size 47 they are each 25 grams lighter than my 2022 pair. Really surprised me!
How strange. Which colour?
I know it's not a 2024 shoe but Superblast for me followed by Metaspeed Sky Paris, Alphafly 3 and Endorphin Speed 4
If you are using them they are certainly 2024 models 👍🏼👊
Excellent top 5. I prefer the Adidas SL 2 for daily trainer and the Saucony Endorphin pro 4 for race day. Like to EDDBUD. Have a good day.
I didn’t realize there was a Jell-O of the month club! 😂 more wobbly than the original PrimeX
Metaspeed sky Paris (pb's in them) and finally, pre-ordered the SB II, shipping July 5th and already pretty much sold out on the asics site here in the states. Good luck next round euro and by the way for London, "Not this time" once again..like clockwork.
I may never get into London. I shan’t do the “influencer” trick either. I want a place by luck. 🤣
@@EDDBUDreally, nearly impossible to get in as an Int'l participant and since my wife is dead set on completing Abbott 6 (will have three of them by the fall), we may have to bite the bullet with a tour group. Ouch on the wallet...
So many great shoes this year. We are spoiled 😢
Asics my favorite
Love it.
The alphafly V3 is a huge disappointment for me and the Diadora cara carbon, the Hoka Cielo x1 and mach 6 were all good choices for me this year..would like to try the Puma nitro elite 3 but it's not available yet...might have to dust off a new pr of NB elite V3 for a 10k at July 4th races..with the right insoles it's crazy bouncy..reminds of the invincible V-1 out of the box bounce before they went flat..
AF is good imo, just not even close to the V1. To much focus on comfort not speed.
Hoka Cielo X is for sure the running shoes I have used the most in 2024. Maybe not your race day shoe, but for everything else it’s my go to. For race day it’s still Alphafly 1
It’s really nice but very overpriced sadly. At 250 they are nuts thinking people will switch from other brands
You read my mind Ed! Trying to decide between getting the alphafly 3 and deviate nitro elite 3. Really want the release colorway for nitro elite but can't find in my size 😢
🥉
I predict the SB2 will lead the pack in episode 2 (the midsole returns) of this series. I grabbed a pre-order pair that should ship out on Friday…
Sounds heavier and more a cruiser now which is a bit sad
@@EDDBUD, I’m hearing the increase is marginal and hoping the change to FF turbo + will add to the pop. It does appear they closed to open sections on the outsole so it won’t collect small pebbles anymore.
The Mizuno wave rebellion pro 2 is really fun. I love that one .
I try really hard but I cannot justify the metaspeed sky Paris purchase that my mid life crisis, child like, mind wants.
It’s a super shoe. But it’s gonna burn out quick
I can join you in the London mara-reject pile. Gone for Manchester myself! 👍
@@stevegilbert1023 My mate Rob Gundry and I will be there 👊
Great update 🎉
Thanks! 😊
What's your favourite light low stack shoe currently? Something like Adidas Adios or Puma Liberate. I'm waiting for the new update to them
Adios 8 or Takumi sen 10
With one exception these are all super shoe racing models. I'd rather see a "best of" that acknowledges the differences between categories of shoes -- daily trainers, tempo trainers, recovery trainers, racers.
Best shoes I have reviewed. There’s been some really middle of the road stuff which didn’t feature
So glad you picked the Sky Paris number 1!
Got a pair of Cielo x1s and Metaspeed sky Paris came available and ended up getting those too. Usually wait for a dry day and easy run for 1st outing of a new pair and haven't got either out yet, just wore around the house a short while yet.
Tbh based on house wear I'm more excited about the Hokas with the speed role throwing you forward but the Asics might surprise me yet
Hello!
Hello!
There are too many good shoes this year. I can't cope 😪😀
Yes real overload!
Extra thumbs up like and algo-comment for the Christmas Vacation reference at 10:20! #respect
Well spotted!
Would probably get DN3 Elite. Love the tune.
Ed ...I thought you would have some contacts to get you in London Marathon.....
Mizuno Neo Vista for me. Feels like a more stable Prime X and managed to pick them up for £115 to boot 👌
Love the Neo, but nowhere near as fast as the Prime X for me, I'm using it more as a recovery, LSR shoe and probably putting more miles on it than any other shoe.
I wish that black/yellow colorway for the SL2 is available on my region i.e. South East Asia 😢
I was listening to Mozart's Symphony No. 38 in D major earlier... The karaoke version.
Classic tune.
😅
Just wondering when the movie "Land of the Midsole" is coming out!! 😂🤣
Not sure I could secure funding for that one!
For the algorithm
Much appreciated
edge or sky is better?
Haven’t tried the edge
Forgot to mention, tried on the endorphin pro 4 in 2 diff shops but just didn't find them comfortable. Have speed 2 & shift 3 from Saucony which have been great so was surprised
👊🏼🤖‼️
Your top 3 were the last 3 pairs I have bought 👍🏻
You have chosen wisely. 🤣👍🏼
Did you get the Elite 2 Edd 👀
Nah not yet
The adidas pro is so light, your time in the marathon will be better
It’s not that much lighter. Plus a light shoe isn’t always what you want for a marathon. Cushion is what you need
Rejected annually by London but the frustrating part is that I would qualify for my AG standard if it were open to non-UK residents. I’ll have to bit the marathon-tour bullet as well to have a realistic chance. At least this year’s rejection didn’t feature misleading happy dancing emojis. 😂
Yes last years was a bit harsh 🤣
I love the reviews. Thank you 🎉
You are so welcome!
Puma have got issues with insole manufacturing at the moment returned several pairs from different online retsilers, IMO material changed and is no good when gets 🔥🥵. Unlike earlier models, so be aware. The midsole also has issues too, as goes very mushy in hot westher, so much that I feel makes unpredictable impact & unstable, gives me ankle & calve aches for last 2 weeks, did not have that last years model, in fact now using last years again & shelved current model until autumn westher. Ed do some durometer readings at 22c or after a run a dvyou will see a massive differnce in the side wall metrics.
Haven’t felt that in the elite so far
whoa...no SuperBlast2???
It’s not out yet and I don’t have a pair
@@EDDBUD I trust you'll find them to be Absolute SuperBangers! :)
I’ve changed from Nike to Saucony recently and am really enjoying them, deep smell of Garden Centre! 😊
It’s quite potent isn’t it?!
Agree on the comments on stocking, unless you’re a uk size 5 no chance of getting a Cielo x1
Hm… You changed the insole of SL2? Other channels said it’s built in and not removable.
Bit of warming up and they came out fine!
Asics really need to sort their stocking out. Constantly sold out on all of their top models. Not going to lie it pi**es me off.
I bet the super blast 2 will have the same fate
Both me AND my wife got into London 2025 through the ballot!...both for the first time too. Odds of around 800/1 (i think)!
Congrats!
Numero uno Asics Metaspeed sky Paris!
Great review! - If you were chasing a Marathon PB, which of these shoes would you pick, I'm running Chicago in Oct and looking for a shoe to go Sub 3 in. Tempted to go for the Sky Paris, but lots of reviewers have been saying the AF3 is the best Marathon Shoe.
I used version 2 of the elite nitro for last years Manchester marathon .. and if this is an improvement I say go for it (I think we run kind of the same times) .. you will love the course (half of it you did last year for the half) a couple more lumps and bumps but with much better post race support.
Both myself and Rob Gundry are heading over. Should be smashing!
Currently rejected for 5th year for London marathon guess Manchester is a try next 😢
Third
Great vid as always, appreciate it boss.
AF 3 have the chance now to buy, wondering your opinion to go true to size?
My Endo pro 3 and Sky Paris both 11.5 and fits perfectly.
Should I stick with the same size with the AF3?
⭐⭐⭐ From Argentina!
@@Martin-kq4dk thanks for watching! 👍🏼👊
Quite surprised to not hear of Adios Pro 3. cheers
I reviewed that back in 2023. This is shoes released in 2024.
Im heavy and wery new to this runing thing, bought the nimbus26 tr, no trouble with hurting heals anymore, and im just runing to get in shape, speed or compete is not on the worldmap
Perfect for a good solid option
I didn’t even get a response back from London Marathon, I guess that means I’m not in.
It’s tough to get into these days
Would you be able to try the Xtep 160x 3.0 Pro? Since you like the Sky Paris, I thought this might be really up your alley, at an affordable price.
Would love to but hard to find in my larger size
Good analysis of the top shoes. Please could you do a shoe review of the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris reason being is I bought a pair 3 months ago. As I will be running in the Edges for my annual Marathon race this November. Thanks.🙂
Haven’t tried the edge as of yet
I had a rare chance to compare the Paris Edge and Sky back to back at the Boston Asics pop up. I can say they were both comfortable and fun to run in but Asics’ intentions proved valid in my case: I have a very high default cadence of around 188 and the Edge provided more propulsion whereas the Sky gave me more vertical bounce. My short but fast stride felt more optimized by the Edge. That being said, I still didn’t buy them. Rather, I’m playing it safe and sticking with the Endo Pro. I just bought 2 pairs of late-manufactured v3’s at close to half price because I had a huge marathon PR in that iteration and while the shoes probably didn’t play the starring role in that, I had zero issues with them out of the box. They aren’t quite as comfy for me as v4, but I think they enhanced my biomechanics more.
Hi
Gold!
@@EDDBUD 🥇
So far, I'm also really liking the SL2 and you only put a couple of legit racing shoes above it
Yes it’s quite superb for the money
Looking forward to meeting England in the semis! 🇳🇱👊😉
It could very well happen. I predict an orange victory
I know it’s a cop out but I find it hard to believe anyone doesn’t think the alphafly 3 is the greatest shoe ever made
I don’t think it is. For 5k or 10k it’s almost too squashy. Some people want something firmer and more responsive for that
Maybe 4&5 could be 1&2, or at least 2&3?
Yo😅
Silver
@@EDDBUD still not 100% so I’ll take the Silver 🎉
I'm too traumatised from the SL1 to consider the 2nd iteration, despite the good reports. The Endorphin Pro 4 has piqued my interest though
London marathon rejection crew🎉
Hey Ed, you mention the durability of the Alphafly's so far, about how many miles do you have on it so far?
105 on my proto pair. Seems pretty good. No chunks falling off
ok Eddbud, question for you. What "Supershoe" do you recommend for someone that needs a little stability in their longer runs? I know no super shoe is a "stability shoe" but what is one you think has the most stability? Love your videos by the way, I am a new follower but have been devouring them.
The secret stability shoes are the good ones like the foreverun and even the triumph 21. The Kayano is a great option too for some medial stability. All foam these days and no nasty plastic stuff
Hi Edd. I can’t not enjoy overpriced running shoes as fun runner and elite jogger 😂 Could go for the SL 2
The sl2 is fantastic for that
Hi Ed, Have you tried the edge Paris? or heard anything good/bad VS the Sky Paris? I loved the orignal Sky but in the plus modeles I liked the Edge+ better. TY
Not tried the edge in either version
@@EDDBUD Thanks, The edge plus was fast for half marathons and under for me. Firm but fast Lol
I just got the pumas for my first half marathon. Do you think I can run in them for my 5km park runs that is on a path or am I just meant to save them for races? It was a toss up with the ASICS but the pumas seem more durable plus I have narrow feet.
They are more durable than most other super shoes.
dne3 i'll be having since sky paris is non existent where I am.
Seems like some logistics issues on that one
Lyme Regis? Isn't that place known for really cool fossils?
Yea Jurassic coast with lots of good finds.
Surprised that AF3 is not in your top three! I had got an impression that it was growing on you (i dont mean literally, but maybe in some distant future some bio engineering company will be able to do it and we wont be required to buy shoes anymore!)..!
Wonder what else or more Nike has got to do! O'yea, They got to cut down weight! But then VF3 did lukewarm too...maybe zoomx now is not as hot as it used be... Anyways, you say metaspeed sky paris is the best, then let's just buy the best!
Maybe I should get EP4 for my long runs. You think it will last?
It’s that bit more durable with the pellet based midsole.
@@EDDBUD i cant seem to get my shoes past 500km wihout foam feeling dead. Even the SB is causing strange aches.
Vote Edd Budd!
I stand for the midsole party.
Hi Ho Sliver.
Classic tune
Awww, Adidas Adios 8 didn't make the list!
Mate England will get eliminated for sure.
They had luck on their side last time
@@EDDBUD no chance against spain. Mah homie southgate does not know how to position those midfielders and attackers.. Spain all out on semis. cheers mate
@@chinitopogi7511 In knockout football anything can happen
I raced my first-ever marathon at the International Prague Marathon in AF3 this year. Even though I absolutely loved the shoe from the performance pov, I was disappointed by the durability as the midsole detached from the outsole after just one marathon and a couple of training miles. However, I got a full refund without any problem, hands down for that to Nike 👏After that, I have been thinking of getting a pair of Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris for a long time but those are nowhere to be found here in Czechia. Fortunately, the new color is coming on 5th July, so I will try to pick up one. Do you guys think it is a suitable shoe for a relatively new forefoot striker runner with a 3:45 marathon time? 🧐 I have found much information saying it is a shoe more focused toward experienced runners with marathon times under 3:00, on the other hand, some say, it is just perfect for everybody. I plan on getting a 10k and 1/2 marathon PBs with Sky Paris. Thank you!
I see it helping me out towards the later part of a marathon
@@EDDBUD thank you, sounds good. I have been really enjoying your videos lately btw, keep up the great work! 👏
Since this is a recurring topic/question re: “Super shoes”; I’ve seen far more comments saying super shoes in general are worthwhile for anyone they help in any way, compared to comments narrowing that category by pace or finish times. Super shoes now comprise such a broad spectrum in terms of whose biomechanics they help and how, that one can’t really generalize. They help not only optimizing one’s efficiency but also with comfort for long races (HM/M). I don’t run in such shoes except for racing, because I prefer to keep all muscles in my legs and feet working and strong through training. But I do find they’re worth it for racing and if time were the metric, in my over-70 AG one could say my 4 hr+ marathon time makes them unsuitable. But I got an 18 min PR when I switched from a regular trainer to the Endo Pro 3 (not entirely attributable to the shoe alone of course) and finished in the top 10 of my AG in Boston. And I can tell you the vast majority of women in my corral were wearing this category of shoe (carbon-plated racing shoe). And the top finishers in my late AG were still far from 3:00! I think the fastest in the world were just under 3:40.
