Cables That Cross a Center Stitch With and Without a Cable Needle// Technique Tuesday
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 7 ส.ค. 2024
- This video demonstrates how cables are crossed when there are three sets of stitches involved, with the stitches on the left and right trade positions, while a center stitch maintains its position, as in 1/1/1, 2/1/2, and 3/1/2 cables. The video first compares how these cables are different from cables with two sets of sts crossing each other, then demonstrates how to cross the cables using a cable needle, and then how to cross them without a cable needle.

Thank you, this was just what i needed!
Can't wait to get moved, so I can start knitting again, and try these cool cable techs. Thanks, Rox.
Thank you for such a clear explanation!!! I was able to do single stitch crosses, but your demo is EXCELLENT. Can't wait to try it on my new aran yarn just ordered.
Thank you so much for these cable videos. I was always hesitant to do cables even though they look beautiful. I dislike using a cable needle. Will give all the techniques you have given to try my first cable hat!!
Thank you, it’s very helpfull! 👍🏻
Wonderful! Thank you
How can I avoid the enlarged knit (of a cable) before the purl. Your knit columns are so perfect. Dianne

There are a few different techniques that people use like twisting the purl stitch or wrapping the yarn in the opposite direction but this is the technique I use for both ribbing and cables. I find that it works really well and becomes fairly second nature after a while.
(You can skip to the 5:00 mark to get to the technique.)
CRJ_stan Thank you.
Right crossing cables tend to look better than left-crossing, so for those, I will often adjust the tension in the last two sts of the cable on a crossing row. If the problem stems from the transition between knits and purls, there are various tricks you can try. I don't have a video, but I wrote an article on this topic years ago: www.ravelry.com/twir/75/ask-a-knitter-18
