    Glad to see you are discussing traveling cables. Being able to create a cable starting out of a plain reverse stockinette background and have it lay perfectly flat is exciting. Such a learning experience!

    I am new at closed ring cables.This video unlocked a mystery I have been trying to solve regarding how to interpret the increases and decreases at the beginning and end of the ring. Your explanation and demonstration are very clear. Thank you so much for this video.

    I am so happy you showed the differences in charting! I understand subtleties of both types now, but most important i count count count. Your clear instruction and comments are much appreciated.

    I, too, love cables, but sometimes normal 2 over 2 or 3 over 3 are too heavy visually in a particular design. That's when traveling cables really shine. I have never done anything like the closed ring you showed today. Thank you for expanding our knowledge and inspiring us.

    I knit a few patterns from Lucy Hague with closed cables. It is certainly a steep and very rewarding learning curve!

    Thank you, I’m trying to design a Dara Celtic knot pattern as I can’t find one, and this helps a lot.

    I’m wearing a sweater that I made from an Elsebeth Lavold pattern today. I had quite a time figuring out the cables. I’m looking forward to hearing your talk about her.

    Wonderful! I love your cable series! I’m working on Nora Gaughan’s “Nightighale” and Alice Starmore’s “St Brigid”.
    Reading Lavold’s Viking Knits, and very captivated by Lucy Hughe’s book “Illuminated Knits”. I’m planning to knit her “Kells” sweater.
    I look forward your next video on Starmore’s cable style and method.🥰

    Which knitting chart software do you use? I am starting to convert written pattern to chart and have been using graph paper and pencil.

    Where can I find the chart for the blue cable pattern in the beginning of the video or the promo visual? I would love to knit it.

      I think that one was from Barbara G. Walker's Charted Knitting Designs: A Third Treasury of Knitting Patterns.

    I love knitting cables. I have a question and i hope I can ask it so you understand what I'm asking. I'm wanting to knit a hat that has traveling cables for the brim of the hat (going around the hat) and I can not find a pattern. So my question is... Would I make the brim by doing a provisional cast on, then make the brim the length that I need. Then join the two ends together. Then pick up stitches around one side of the band for the rest of the hat. Or is there another way ? Thank you very much. Love your videos.

      You've got it figured out. Depending on the cable you choose, you may or may not be able to end so that you have a full repeat at the join. You can find lots of hats with a sideways cable at the brim on Ravelry, if you select "sideways" and "cables" as attributes, along with the category "hats." Here's a search showing those results www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#pa=sideways%2Bcables&pc=hat&sort=best&view=captioned_thumbs

    When knitting a cable pattern from a chart, if not designated, do I assume row 1 beginning on the left side of the chart is the wrong side of the garment/project?

    • @RoxanneRichardson
      @RoxanneRichardson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Assume that the crossing rows are RS rows. If the first crossing row is an odd row, then Row 1 is a RS row. If the first crossing row is an even row, then Row 1 is a WS row.
