I did have one follow up question: I recently received an exploding 3rd year non-IB (S&T) internship offer at a BB (MS). However, I want to do banking and I know that MS has a formal program to allow top performing interns to sign 3 year FT Analyst contracts (1.5 years S&T, 1.5 years of IB)
Do you think that this program will be viewed negatively by headhunters? (Ie, limited Banking "track record"/credibility)
Also, is it better to have the strong name & slowly make my way from S&T to banking? Or, is it better to start my career in IB, but at a lower-"tier" firm? Not sure which better preserves optionality.

Hey Matt 1) in your last point you mean that if someone goes to the U.S. for business school, IB, or PE it is harder for them to break in at higher level positions in PE firms in Canada - do you think it could be due to the fact that there are quite a few less PE firms in Canada than the U.S. (& therefore less opportunities)? & 2) I agree with the distribution thing for MBAs, but also that from an associate to senior associate/VP you need a different sort of skill-set from kind of grunt work to higher level strategy & thinking skills that an MBA program (in the U.S.) could help with?

What if you had a lot of industry experience, and an MBA from a top school, but no banking experience ? And you're capabie of handling all the responsibilities and more. How would you make an entry ? The only draw back being no banking experience.
