I'm an OG simracer, from back in the day when iRacing was still Papyrus. And wheels and pedals were in their infancy. And having just hooked up my new Fanatec with Formula wheel and advanced paddles, it very nearly brought a tear to my eye. Back in the day, we never could have imagined that simracing would become this big, and so widely supported by brilliant engineers. We're living in the dawn of a Golden Era of simulations across the board. :)

They really have taken Sim-racing to another level. This is wonderful news. I literally bought the Next Level Racing wheel stand DD a couple months ago to allow myself the flexibility to upgrade from my 10 year old Logitech MOMO steering wheel to a DD wheel base. I also bought the Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals just last month. This CSL DD announcement is just perfect timing. Thank you Fanatec, Love from Canada!

@John Francis The Fanatec (without the rim) is still at another price level, so for the other manufacturers it likely won't make much of a difference.

YESSSSS. I almost bought the CSL Elite when it was in stock
I've had mine about 3 years.. Got a sweet deal black Friday. The csl pedals worked great for a little while. Loved the load cell.. The plastic gears on the sensors wear and you get input spikes. I do love the v3's though. For the price I got the csl base and rim I'm very happy with it.. Huge upgrade over g27.. I do run low ffb tho.

I have a DD1 and this is perfect for entry level direct drive. Now more sim racers can enter the direct drive world for an affordable price. Well done Fanatec.

I just upgraded from a G27 to the CSL Elite a month ago. Had I known this was coming out I would’ve waited and went with the CSL DD instead. I love the Elite, but man it would have been nice to jump to DD instead of stopping off at belt drive.

Not really, these will be oit after a while and you won't find them as they will sell out quickly. Keep your CSW for now as I learned it the hard way when I sold my rtx 2080s and I couldn't get the 3080

This still needs pedals and rim - that's a lot of money and only for enthusiasts. Logitech and Thrustmaster still going to sell loads.
£60 for pedals is not expensive and some Fanatec wheels are cheaper than other brands

Damn good thing I didn't get the DD1 yet. Would have paid alot of money for a product that I can only use about 25 percent of the ffb. I have nerve damage so the CSL DD is perfect with it's 5 nanometers 👍 and I've always wanted a direct drive base. Cudos Fanatec for once again proving to be the best there is at producing top notch Sim Racing gear. Thank you to all at Fanatec, us Sim Racers appreciate all that you do for our community.

I shouldn’t care cause I just sold my DD2 after I switched to a SC2 Pro but this just confirms why I left the Fanatec eco system.
I thought for sure by this time the Podium line would have a fantastic lineup of high end wheels. Something like Cube Controls or the SRB wheels. Backlit buttons, cool designs. No flexing quick release options....for less then $1k.
Maybe some Podium pedals, shifter and hand brakes. Maybe a Podium button box? Nope!
Too many product lines to develop for.
You're not their target audience which are console racers. If you don't don't console race and you sim race, Fanatec doesn't make much sense over the other DD's and pedals (Heusinkveld for example). I'm using a AF2 if I were to upgrade it'd be a SC2 not a DD1/DD2.

I have been checking every day for stock on the CSL elite to complete my new sim rig. Then this happens. I cant wait to put this on it.

A £350 dd wheel. These are surely gonna sell like mad. Just for reference the new thrustmaster sf1000 wheel rim is £360.

And the SF1000 wheel is all plastic. Plastic paddles, plastic rim.. The screen is the best part about it.

It has less torque than the current CSL Elite, but it will definitely help with precision feel and handling. I just bought my Elite back in November. Hopefully someone will pay like $200 for it so this new base won't hit my wallet so hard.
For most of us with entry level rigs, or wheelstands, 5nm is powerful enough.
I mean, my scl elite torques and shakes my rig like no tomorrow.
There is an optional power boost that you can buy that unlocks the 8 nm torque.
@@ariton2990 i have tried a simecube 2, and found the higher strength unnecessary. 5-8 is right in the ball-park for any non professional.
The fidelity of the DD is what's going to make the difference.

@@Scoopa it's so beautiful mate, best advice is to look at the reviews and then decide. This level of accuracy is so expensive and you would only see it in high cost simulators. It's such a great day to see these two products. I don't understand why fanatec won't make a replica wheel as it looks phenomenal

Not so sure about that though, you still need to spend money's on Pedal and maybe a shifter. And what ever other adds you need.

Should have been 10nm continuous, 12nm peak. Would have literally shut down the market if it came at a similar or lower price point.
Also...wish this would have come out sooner, would have jumped on this over the way too expensive dd1/dd2.
At the price mentioned and your point of the overly priced dd1/2. And it's a csl dd I'm sure a 10nm / 12mn peak cs dd is on the cards. Theres definitely room for mid to low priced dd's. This is great for the sim racing world. Forcing everyone to lower there prices.
Yup there blog post stated more direct drive wheel coming and rhus one is not ps compatible so hopefully when they replace the csw to dd that will be
@@allyhaze8300 I'm not usually a fan of Fanatec's business strategies but they really seem to work. This product particularly will really force other companies to offer cheaper dd solutions or lower the already existing prices, I agree.
I'm actually wanting one of these even though I already have a dd1.
This thing would be lighter on my motion rig and have about the same amount of power I use with the dd1 anyway.

This is exactly what I've been waiting for. An affordable DD base for the masses. I was considering going to a clubsport v2.5 for a while (from a G29) but there's absolutely no reason to not go for this now

No need to get rid of your csl as it's an awesome hub, this one will sell out and the dodgy ebay sellers will list it for £599 or more for the whole of this year and next

I doubt it comes with the pedals and a wheel. Prob will be more expensive for the bundle. But it is sus that it is almost as much as an add-on wheel
The torque is the same with the power supply that, I assume, comes with it.
But can be raised by a further 3Nm with a boost kit, which costs a little more.
I think the first DD bases were priced as they were for 2 reasons: Because they were new to the market, and because of the crazy amount of torque (too much, really).
But this... this seems like a good sweet spot.
The price is 200£ cheaper then CSW2.5. Which is weird also I cant see them listed in the store either
