It does work but it’s only a temp fix. If you were meant to drive in L7 full time we wouldn’t need a D. For sure different gear ratios
I'm assuming L7 is the same as D, where the transmission shifts itself normally. You should not be able to start out in overdrive. You aren't really in your top gear ratio.
I guess My 2019 doesn't enclave doesn'thave that feature..
No offense, but for the older models that is a klugey fix. There SHOULD be a way to disable this dumb feature once and for all. Stopping "climate change" by wearing out starter motors and decreasing engine life, one Buick at a time.
Would this idea work on a 2020 Chevy Trax? Mine says "M" but I did this same thing but mine said M3 was the last gear. Please help❤️
How do you set it so the car runs longer? Ours seems to only run for about 5 minutes. We have a 2015 buick enclave

It is the exact same way, you just pull the gear shift into the drive position twice to go in to manual mode and press the right paddle shift until it no longer goes up which should be at L9, when looking at the dash cluster
does this feature really save gas or its really more wear and tear on the engine. Not good to be turning the car on and off constantly.
I asked that same question.. I think it's damaging the engine.
It doesn’t do damage, they put huge starters in these cars

It's to meet epa requirements and nothing else.
I heard the hundreds of unnecessary starts and stops starve the engines top side of oil over and over again, leading to mu h more wear and tear and early engine failures...
after 3rd gear it says "shift denied"
So stay on manual the whole time and do this each time you get in a car?
That is correct, every time after crank-up. Just like with any of the new cars that have the disable button, every time. BUT guess what, the new Nissan Rogue does not have the start-stop feature at all! That'll help sell that SUV!
Great video, but very hard to watch and listen to because of the noises made by grabbing/twisting/moving the camera.

You must leave the shifter in the "L" mode. Seems like a small price to pay to get rid of that annoying-as-hell start stop feature.
Hey y’all! If you’re looking for more of a permanent/less annoying fix my dealership shared a better one with me!
If you set it to max temp A/C or Heat and then adjust the fan to your liking, it’ll disable the auto stop feature!
Not really disabling but using the ac/heater will
Keep the engine running, but it will keep the engine running rather then stopping on auto stop haha

if its like the equinox trans has 9 speeds
Leave it in L9. Most Equinox have only 6 speeds, just leave those in L6 and drive off.
I have a 2018 Lacrosse and the "shifter in M and paddle up" technique does not work. If I go to "M" I can only paddle shift one gear at a time. In other words, paddle into 1 move, paddle into 2 move etc. up to 6. Is there any other way to disable auto stop?

@@nobodyimportant6851 car guys, like me, notice stuff like the engine shutting down. For most people a car is to get from point A to Point B and driving is just a chore. Its different with those who like cars and driving..... the "feature" is an annoying and a pain in the ass.
Recently bought a 2019 Buick Regal Sportback, with no way to shut off the Auto Stop... but I'm not sure why I would want to. Engine stopping at a traffic light isn't really noticeable, and I'm saving gas, so what's the issue?

@@theawsomeonenumber3Batteries and starters on these models are meant to withstand the extra starts. If the parameters to stop the engine aren’t meant such as low or hot temps, then the engine won’t stop. It’s smarter than you think. There is no problem with this system, my mechanic agrees.
Who makes a new car without the auto stop feature? I think that's the question. Stop supporting companies that force this on us.
