I was somewhat concerned about Sean Bean as a choice for the narration at first, but he totally delivered and was absolutely a great choice. Just make sure to get him back for the expansions!

When I told my wife that Sean Bean did the voice work for this she said, "Well if they figure out how to kill him doing voice work, that'll be real interesting." and we had a good laugh. He did some great work.

Came back to listen to his voice again after they announced Gwendoline Christie!! Guess they went with game of thrones again lol! She sounds magnificent and I can't wait, but I had to come pay respects to the one who's kept me company for the last decade! Thank you Sean!
Not only was Sean Bean the best narrator in the civ games, he has done the best narration work in any video game made so far. Absolutely mind blowing. Perfect.
Sean Bean is an amazing actor. It broke my heart when he was killed off early on in GoT.

6 years of playing Civ VI later, Sean Bean was still an excellent choice and I am very thankful he got participate in one of the best 4X ever made

Perfect choice. His voice adds so much atmosphere with the music together it gives you goosebumps.
Every time I used to play this game I used to respectfully listen to the whole of his intros and then remark, “Thank you, Sean.” Before starting my session.

That intro still gets to me .... Civ VI cinematics were different but more personally touching than just the wonders and wars in fast foward.

I grew up with civilization saga since civ2, I learnt so much History and it woke me passion for it... I remember having gone to school and talk with a friend hours dreaming founding in real life a city called "Juliograd". Thanks for creating this saga and I think we are a great community. grettings from Spain.

I never realized what kind of a voice he has, never saw a movie with him in english (I am from german and switched to original version a few years ago).

Civ was one of the first games I ever played (Civ 2 and Civ 3 specifically) and they were one of the reasons I fell in love with PC gaming, and Sean's voice work on Civ VI hits me with such fond nostalgia. Perfect voice casting.
Even when he's speaking, he's narrating.
Even to this day I'm so, so happy you went with Sean Bean. In my humble opinion the narrating's been done perfectly. It truly gives me chills.

love Sean Bean so much. When I realized as a kid he was both Alec Trevelyan and Boromir (I didn't associate the two until much later) my mind exploded. I of course remember when Goldeneye came out, both THAT videogame and the movie. That might be the best example of a videogame where the game is by far better and more memorable and more revolutionary than the film it's based on.

I just realized how touching it is for his character to always be killed off.
When a character dies, the point is for the audience to sympathize and feel the emotional loss. They pick Sean Bean for this roll because they know we love him.
It's up to him but I really hope he has a role in Elder Scrolls VI

Ok maybe I'm the only one who thinks this but I MUST KNOW. In Civ 4 when you researched a tech and Spock would say whatever the lines were you could exit the tech notification and he would keep talking. They removed that in Civ 5 and 6 and it pisses me off. Seriously am I the only one? I LOVE the voice acting but I wanna keep playing AND hear the narration at the same time. That was a BIG deal. Like I said I'm prob the only one who thinks this but I wanted to ask just in case.

sean bean can do death scenes like no other. its bittersweet- his characters dont survive, but we get to see a master ply his craft. my fav narrator for civ games, and the music in this game as well...the two combined give me goosebumps. extremely well done by all.
For all you people talking about Sean Bean dying all the time, you've clearly never seen the TV show Sharpe.
Sharpe was a great series, he truly has been in so many great things. Love Mr. Bean's voice in CIv IV too, right up there with Mr. Nimoy's
I only recently started playing Civ6, and I love getting new techs and hearing his voice. It's so perfect.
