I had the issue of setup screens looping again and again after factory reset. I tried everything on all these youtube videos but nothing worked. I left it plugged in overnight (with wifi connected) and the problem got solved.
I appreciate all you do! I’m having a difficult time seeing what you are showing and doing since the fire stick is black and your shirt is black. Just a friendly observation :)
Sorry, that’s why we zoomed in during the important parts. If you are interested in expanding storage, watch our videos on it. It’s more detailed
This is a great vid (!) but it did not solve my problems, unfortunately. I bought 2 new firesticks-4k to replace one old one + one new TV. Both new units got stuck on "unable to update". I tried all of the suggestions (unplug/replug, restart with remote, factory reset with remote, & all other suggestions. Nothing worked on these 2 new firesticks. However, the old one still worked.
I finally called Amazon customer support, got transferred to the fire tv tech folks, & they fixed the problem! It turns out that the new units looked like returns, so were turned off in my profile (behind the scenes-I couldn't see it but they could) by Amazon. Once I explained & got the tech folks to understand, they had to go back into my profile & turn it back on again. Voila! Thought I would share this info to help others. Good Luck.
This is a very rare and odd situation. Glad it worked out with their help. Many times they give up and don't give much help. I'm glad you got a good support rep.
@@CuriosityCafe Thanks. It did take a lot to get them to understand & take further actions, but being insistent & persistent paid off!
I've been having this problem for a few days now. I didn't know it had a name... Boot loop...
I unplugged it and let it sit for a few hours. Overkill, yes, but I was working anyway. When I plugged it back in it fired right up. Thanks for coming out w8th this video at just the right time!
Great future tip, maybe if Amazon stop messing with these unwanted updates the Firesticks won't hang...
It worked!! I tried every way you mentioned and ended up having to do the factory reset. However, instead of a reset it finished an optimization from an update. This video was on point! Thank you! I saved $50 because I didn’t have to buy a new one. Patience is a virtue that pays..🤗
I have not had this problem, however, I would be the one to toss the whole damn thing into the trash! Thanks for the definitions and the information...always learning something!
Nice Video, thank you. Do you have a video that explains the peripherals, I would love to learn more about the topic.
Yes, we have many videos on this channel
Excellent information! Your history of problem solving is outstanding. Thanks!!!
I haven’t had that problem yet. If I do, I’m going to save your tutorial and I understand stand perfectly. I see you added more memory to the stick. I’m going to browse around and see if I can find a external memory pack similar to yours. I didn’t know you could add memory to the stick! Do you add the memory to the fire stick? Would you tell me what Adapters I need? Thanks so much for sharing all this information.Have a great day.
Just watch our videos on it. Will have all the links to what you need on the video
I have the amazon logo on my tv frozen. Ive tried everything and still cannot even get into the menu. Please help!
Yeah, did you unplug everything? TV, Firestick, all of it for 60 seconds and let the memory clear?
Good job! Communicated perfectly!
Thank you so very much for all your knowledge concerning the Firestick.
I do not have any gagets attached to my firestick, but I am interested in attaching a USB port for added storage. I will have to search for your videos.
Bravo to you!
Thank you for your video again for help me with my fire stick
Thanks , but if you’ve tried to reset ? By holding down the buttons you’ve talked about and still nothing ? And I’ve tried holding the “ Home “ button and I still get no reaction ? Is it done , i’ve watched several videos on this matter, with some variations of how to reset, but all in all still the same ? If my fire TV is not reacting to holding down the buttons as prescribed, is it completely done? I might as well trash it. ?
Hmm, and you replaced the batteries? Sometimes you have to hold it down for 20-30 seconds before it does anything.
Thanks for all the info. I've been getting a repeat problem is there something I can do to fix it..
Do you have any accessories hooked up?
Excellente info! Thx again, your always one of the first to bring great and useful procedures to us 💙
I appreciate this video but it looks like my firestick remote is different. (It has no power button.) I tried pressing 'right' and the 'back's button for over 10 seconds and it's not going to the 'factory reset' screen. Any advice?
You might have an older firestick? This reset works with any 2nd or newer
Hi I have a monsterbox max and it will drop out of a movie and back to the main screen. any idea what is going on???
Reach out to MonsterBox support. You can do it right on the box
Great video as always 😊
where do you get the little adapter from I am lost
Click the video title and the description section will open and you can see all the links
How come you livetv has no sound? Can you help me.thanks
I'm not sure what you mean? Send me a message on patreon.com/curiositycafeyoutube and I can look into any issues you have
brilliant factory reset did the job.
Haven't had boot loop yet.
Good to know🖒
Thank you as always ☺
Thank you. Luckily I haven't had this problem yet but the knowledge is very helpful
Thank you Mr. CC! Good information to have!
Ok, so after trying every trick in multiple videos....I finally got my firestick out of the loop of death. My fix was accomplished by switching the original power cord and adapter with a different one. I tried multiple ones. But finally I used a white one that I don't remember what it was for, but after I switched to that one and let it go through one loop that came on after I powered my firestick back on, it worked again.. hope that helps.
Most of the time it's a power issue. I always tell people to try other cords and plugs, but most don't have spares. Thanks for the feedback
I have a question not related to this problem. I bought an insignia 24 inch Firestick television. I would like to mirror or play on my television from my phone. Do I need a special adapter to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
I would start with watching our screen mirror video we posted recently
Thank you for the video! Always helpful!! 🙏🏽
Hi my fire stick stays on fire tv that's it tried everything to fix it but nothing is working is there anything I could try to fix it thanks
Even when you unplug everything from the tv and the wall outlet, wait 60 seconds and plug both the power and hdmi back in?
@@CuriosityCafe tryed it all still says fire tv
What did amazon support tell you as far as options? Is it under a year old?
@@CuriosityCafe no i had it for more then 3 years I didn't call amazon yet
Yeah, if you tried everything, even different cords, then the stick might have just had issues with an update and losing power. If you can't get the factory reset remote combination to work (which is what they are gonna have you try), then it's time for a new one. They are on sale today. amzn.to/3Oh9pBc - Great price
Not exactly on point but my Firestick is stuck in an update loop, I believe because there is not enough room left on the stick to update. Problem is that I cannot access the stick to delete apps to free up the room because of the automatic installing update loop. Any advice?
That's unfortunate. I try and educate with our videos so this will never happen (clearing storage, expanding storage etc). In your case, a factory reset is your only option. Will delete all the apps, but set it back to brand new.
@@CuriosityCafe Thanks. I assume getting an adapter and thumb drive at this point is useless (although helpful in the future).
Yeah, if you haven't prepared your stick prior and put yourself in a pickle, waste of time until you factory reset it
needed this! thank youuuuu
Why will my fire stick 4K not accept Ethernet connection since last update?
I can’t answer than because mine does still. Do you have a hub? Or the Amazon ethernet adapter? Anything else attached?
my dad's stick is doing this, he is 1000 miles away, won't a factory reset cause him to lose all the side loaded apps I put on there?
Yes he will lose all side loaded apps if you factory reset it. But not if you just unplug it and wait 60 seconds and replug it in. Did he lose power during an update? Or does he have extra things plugged in? The loop happens when there was a power issue at some point
no extras, just started about a week ago@@CuriosityCafe
Yeah. Have him unplug from power for a while (both tv and wall outlet). Could be a bad cord or his auto updates was not turned off. I have a setting video that’s super important for things like that
Hi.I talked to you about mine not working.I think rebooted back to factory settings with the remote might do it.think you I'll Try that.
What if I did the factory reset and it's still stuck on the boot loop screen? Ok so what happened was some apps weren't playing so I looked on you tube and found a video that said to clear cache, then restart the firestick as soon as I hit the ok for the restart it went to this house is unavailable screen then it wouldn't even show the wifi signal in the wireless settings option. So I did a factory reset, which landed me on the boot loop screen! Please I've tried everything!
So most boot loops are caused by either power shortage, or you reset or restarted the stick during an update. I always encourage NOT allowing auto updates. We talk about that in our set up video. Regardless at this point you have to do a factory reset. Make sure your power cord and block are original and no accessories attached during this process. DO NOT RUSH to do anything. Give it time to install and update.
I don't have the original cords?
How are you plugging it into the wall?
I wish you a happy, successful and joyous life.
Simply unplugging it for 60 seconds worked for me, tried powering on and off but that did the trick. Thank you.
Suddenly went into looping - plugged into mains power, no peripherals, replaced batteries in remote, wifi strong signal, tried factory reset, unplugged fire stick to “cool down” overnight, have 2.5gb space still on fire stick done everything except tossing it into the trash - that’s next 😖
Factory reset unfortunately. Use the remote code. It’s what Amazon will have you do also
Hi,
I tried press the back button and right key on the remote and nothing seems to happen. The firestick is stuck on the firetv logo. Please help
Some people don’t click at the exact same time and hold for long enough. Maybe try a few times. Then call Amazon support
Thanks for the great information. It hasn't happened on any of my devices yet. Mine is also hardwired.
What are the benefits of having a 2tb hdd? 2tb sounds like way more than you would use no?
Well it depends. It fills up quick when you are dvr recording sports games, PPV etc to watch later
@@CuriosityCafe ahhh ok that makes sense!
What if that doesn't work, I'm stuck on amazon logo screen I've tried everything can't even get it too factor reset. Please help...
Factory reset should still work if you do it right. Have to press both buttons at the exact same time and seem to hold forever. But it works. Amazon will tell you the same thing
Thank you! Worked after I removed my HDMI adapter
Thank you for your videos, but my problem is rather unique because the boot loop only occurs on my TCL Roku tv suddenly, but the Firestick works fine on all my other TV's. The Roku function still works fine, but the Firestick goes into a boot loop on the one TV. How is this possible?
It's not possible that it's only on that tv unless you are using the usb on the tv to power it. Then you know that usb isn't good
Thank you! It worked!
What about a factory reset if your remote has lost pairing?
Overkill. You can just repair it with the remote code we share in our videos
@@CuriosityCafe sorry, I worded that wrong, I'm stuck on logo, plus remote not paired, was always losing pairing b4 it started hanging.
I see, if you call Amazon support, they will recommend the same factory reset. I’m just giving additional options for those that don’t want to start over. But either way it’s fixable
@@CuriosityCafe yes, totally agree, I'd like to perform this method, elaborating/expanding further, a friend has gave me a fire tv, it's stuck in boot loop, he did not include his remote, however I have my remote, obviously it's not paired, I'm thinking it would not work?
Can it be done over ethernet with adb tools erc?
Followed same steps but still not able to do factory reset !!. please suggest what next or how to do factory reset with other way?
Use the fire tv app and get into settings
Tearing my hair out coz nothing is getting my fire stick to reset! It’s just stuck on FIRETV WITH THE PINK AND YELLOW FLASH! Is there anything else u can suggest. Please!
You did the unplug from the wall outlet for 60 seconds? As well as the tv, then plugged into a different hdmi port with a new hdmi cord?
@@CuriosityCafe yep... I've pretty much racked my brain for how to fix this... I've tried it now at 4 different houses... it will not do anything but boot to the logo and pink and yellow flash!
Stop racking your brain. Call amazon fire support. They might send you a new one
I have tried all the remedies a few times and nothing works. Does that mean I need a new firestick? Thanks for any help.
You tried different power cord and factory reset?
Just looked and these are on sale right now. Super cheap. Plus it's the newest and fastest: amzn.to/3NfIhT3
@@CuriosityCafe Yes I have. Time for a new one, thanks.
i hope you can help me a friend of mine moved and gave me a old firestick. he told me it was reset. when i plugged it in it is stuck on the cant find remote screen. He didnt give me the remote. i cant get out of that screen is their anything I can do without buying a remote
Watch the fire tv app video. That’s all you need
th-cam.com/video/xCUwe3HpepA/w-d-xo.html
Suffering from boot loop right now. Watched numerous videos but no fix. Fire Stick is about 4 years old so I think it might be done.
Did you try both methods here? You could still factory reset it with holding the remote buttons down for 10-15 seconds
@@CuriosityCafe Tried all your methods and a few others from other channels. Can't get it to factory reset. I even came across method using a keyboard to factory reset...just keeps looping. I'm thinking it is just old. I might try one more time after it sits, but thinking the fat lady is about to sing on this one. Great video though...it was funny that I saw it pop up and I'm like this is totally my issue. Thanks.
I am holding the two buttons together and it it doing nothing. I think it is fried. Probably just going to buy a new one. It will not go to the menu or do anything for 2 days now.
I'm not sure? Likely fixable. But the new firestick 4k max is on sale right now. incredible deal. amzn.to/44Q0zCi
I can't get to the maim screen to even do the factory reset. It shows the splash screen, then restarts, then shows the splash screen
Yeah, that's a power draw boot loop. Make sure no other accessories are attached and use the remote code while it's booting up and it will go into safe mode
What happens if the boot loop doesn’t last 10 seconds. The button press doesn’t work for me.
Then you did not activate the restart. It stops the loop. I had this issue cause I started too soon when I learned about this. Once the logo starts press both buttons. Make sure to press and hold both at the exact same time. With in a short period it will start the process but keep holding. Took me a couple times. I wasn’t pressing at the right time or exact same buttons and the exact same time. It’s very finicky. Enjoy the new firestick
@@CuriosityCafe Right. Can’t start the reset if it activates AFTER the 10 second hold. What I’m saying is that the loop doesn’t last long enough for the 10 second hold to take effect and start the reset. Stick powers down and powers up every 5 seconds. I’m definitely not pressing the buttons incorrectly.
Ok, I was just trying to help. It actually activates in 2-3 seconds, it just makes you wait to confirm. Sorry, I’ve never had it not work. Amazon support will tell you to do the same thing.
I unplugged firestick during update... What can I do now no progress status bar
Oh no:( you might have to use the remote to factory reset it. We have videos on how
Great video 👍 Great Information
What is a boot loop??? Is it when u watching Netflix and it keeps booting up to the Fire stick Home Screen??
When you’re doing anything and it keep restarting
I did the factory reset but it got stuck on optimized it will take 10 minutes, I have tried unplugging it, change the from outlet, change USB and nothing works.
Sounds like you might have a power issue. Do you have expanded storage? Or are you using the usb on your tv to power it? We have other tutorials to help with your situation
How do you factory reset if you dnt have a physical remote? I use the firestick remote app on my phone
If you can get into it with the app, then you shouldn’t have a boot loop. If you do, then you have to have a remote
Thank you for the info!
Thanks for the video information
@2:29 I put a spacer piece of hard foam between the Firestick and (I use a fast USB drive) with the OTG right angle adapter then put a Velcro cable tie around it. I did that to try to keep them in line and not put any undue stress on the micro USB
i cannot use the remote. nothing works it is stuck on the three circles at the bottom
You tried unplugging from wall outlet for 60 seconds?
@@CuriosityCafe tried unplugging it again but it hasn’t worked since yesterday
Did you replace the batteries in the remote? That's the first thing I would do. If that doesn't work, then just use the remote pairing code. We have videos on it.
I'm stuck with data may be corrupted screen with option showing try again or factory reset but I can't do anything or pick a option plz help!?@?!?
Eek. Did you have a vpn running when using the stick? I would call Amazon for suggestions
I have tried to do the factory reset as the other potential fixes didn't apply to me or didn't work. However, nothing happens when I press and hold those two buttons - even when holding for a long time. What next?
Thank you for the clear explanations. I think it is highly likely that I lost connection during an update based on what you shared and what my internet connection tends to do.
Sounds like your remote might not be communicating with the stick. You could always try resetting with the app
@@CuriosityCafe thank you!
Hi I reset factory my fire stick and I don't have the option to turn on 3rd party apps any more what can I do
Ofcourse you do. Did you watch our developer options video? Might want to
Mine did not want to factory reset manually from the remote it just keeps on looping what do I do
You're probably having a power issue. Are you plugged into the official plug and and outlet? Not just USB port? Do you have any external devices? OTG cable, hard drive etc attached?
@Curiosity Cafe yes I'm plugged into the official plug with no external devices connected at all, I then unplugged every piece of the device and let it sit for a day then a plug it all back in and it's still just stuck on Loop. I even inserted new batteries to the remote and still nothing. I've had the device for at least a year and had no issues with it until last week
You will need to factory reset it. We have videos to share how to do this during the boot loop. They also will explain it exactly the same way when you call amazon
Thank you for this video.
My HBO and showtime wont work on kodi its says playback error not sure whats up
I haven’t used Kodi in years. So many better options out there.
@@CuriosityCafe what options are better than kodi
There are so many. TH-cam doesn’t even let us mention them. We post them for our Patreon members on private hosting. But if you watch our videos you will see the apps on our sticks. Kodi is not good for your firestick. Takes too many resources. Android boxes it’s better
I have a fire stick with this problem but I paired the remote with another fire stick dose that mean it’s not paired with the one that has the loop anymore? If so anyone got a fix for that?.
You are correct. We have a remote fix and secret codes video that will help you with this situation. Just click our channel name and subscribe. Easy fixes and we walk you through it
what if its an older fire stick that hasn't been used in a VERY long time and the boot loop is appearing? I've tried leaving it loop for a day, nothing. Took the top adapter hook up off and plugged the actual stick into the HDMI, nothing. all the same. stuck on boot loop. I even tried unplugging it (mind you it hasn't been plugged in for over a year at least maybe more. I don't know what to do at this point. Please help!!
What I would do it unplug everything from tv and wall, then after 2-3 minutes plug everything back in (with no extra accessories) and see if that works. If not, you simply just missed too many updates and you'll have to factory reset it with the remote code we provide
WHEN I GO TO UPDATE IT JUST KEEPS SAYING CHECKING. IF I CLICK ON UPDATE IT WILL SAY UPDATE ERROR. IT STILL WORKS FINE JUST WILL NOT UPDATE.
Do you have enough storage for the update? Check that. Gotta have atleast a gig
@@CuriosityCafe THANKS I HAVE A JUMP DRIVE ON IT BUT IT KEEPS PUTTING EVERYTHING ON FIRE STICK
Terrance I reboot it with the remote or pull power on the side. When it restarts that update will be accessible
Wouldn't pop up the factory reset option.
It will. It's possible you didn't do it exactly as we did. Try to rewatch and do it again. Also make sure your batteries are good on the remote
Did anyone tried removing the case of stick and reset the two buttons..
Great info thanks
I will try this process as mentioned. Also am unable to install netflix which has dissapeared on the fire tv stick
Netflix is very easy to install. If you don't have it on yours for some reason, you can get it from their app store or the aptoide store. If you need private help, reach out on patreon.
I have a Toshiba fire tv and it was acting like the boot loop sequence, i unplugged it for a day then it started working okay again
Hard reboots fix a lot of issues. In the future clear your cache and data regularly. Enjoy
I can't control my volume through my speaker that I have hooked up to my fire TV now it did a new update or update whatever you want to call it and now I can't control my volume
Try disconnecting the speaker and reconnecting. Sometimes you have to do this after an update
I recently changed my wifi and my remote isn’t responding to the factory reset. I don’t know what to do!! Help!

I’m trying to reset mine but it’s not working, can you help me, I don’t have 4k
Please reach out on patreon and we can talk back and forth and test some things. We can get it reset. patreon.com/curiositycafeyoutube
i guess the usb extender was too much, i had to use extension cable instead
I changed my batteries in remote. 💥 fixed
You're so good at what you do and I appreciate it but you gotta wear a light colored shirt we can't see what you're doing
We zoomed in on the important part. If you want to know about expanding storage, watch our videos on it. It’s easier to see. I was just explaining to unplug everything in this video
I tried everything but it doesn’t seem to work it keeps going back to rebooting
Factory reset is your option. Have to make sure to press both buttons at the same time and hold for what seems like forever. It will reset
Mine is stuck at the "unable to update" screen and nothing seems to fix it.
Eddie, did you leave it on auto updates? Once fixed, that's the first step. We talk about that in our setup videos. Because if you lose connection during an update, you need to factory reset it. This is your next step. We show you how. Easy fix, but lose everything and starts over
@@CuriosityCafe so what happened is that i connected my firestick to another tv and used the usb on the back. And for some reason that wiped my firestick. And now when i try and set it up again it stops on the update
My guess is that your stick was in the middle of an auto update when you unplugged it. That causes this. You can use the factory reset with your remote still
@@CuriosityCafe yes i tried the factory reset but it still gets stuck in the same screen
You factory reset it, or restarted it? Two different things. If you factory reset it, you will go through the setup process like a new stick including picking your internet, signing into your amazon account etc. Won't get stuck unless you are using a VPN during the setup.
Would this work on a monster box holding down the back and the side key
No, this is only for firestick. Reset on that box is a pin hole on the side
@@CuriosityCafe Yes I know that but it won't work but thank you for the video.
Depending on your issue, they may be able to do it remotely. Just have to contact them.
Thank you sir
Good to know. Thanks.
Thanks very much that helps to me to reset my firestick that it was luck
That didn’t work fir me. I’m going to have to reset a different way as it keeps going on reboot!
You tried different cords and adapters? Also remember you can trade in your older stick for a new one
What if the factory reset don’t work
If you unplugged all peripherals, made sure to use the plug that came with it AND factory reset it and still doesn’t work, then you need a new firestick.
It won’t let me factory reset on the remote
You should be able to (unless your remote is dead). Just have to make sure to click both buttons and HOLD THEM down until the reset starts. Takes some time. Some people aren’t clicking both exactly at the same time. Try a few times, if you can’t get it, call amazon support. They can sometimes help
@@CuriosityCafe ok buddy thx for the reply I will try that 👍
You deserve a sub for that 👍
Mine is just bricked i guess. All of your options dont work, i cant even get it to factory reset. Time to order a new one. Thanks for the video anyway.
Sorry. we did post a video recently about how you can trade in your old firestick for a new one working or not. Check out that video. Just posted a couple days ago
Please wear a white shirt while holding black accessories in front of you.
Thanks for the tip. I will do better next time
I bought a new amazon firestick JUST so I could have a 2nd remote in the living room. I successfully paired the 2nd remote to my firestick that we have already had for a couple years. It worked for a while then I started to get the “low battery “warning. This is a NEW remote. I didn’t even use the amazon batteries, I used new energizer ones. I have tried all the tricks unplugging the fire stick, resetting my remote, holding down the home button, holding down the “three” buttons down together. Restated my fire stick, seriously these are just comical things that they are trying to get us to do. Can anyone help???
Two things.. you drained the batteries, so use new ones again, second, I’m guessing you aren’t turning your firestick off when done with it or even putting it to sleep. Just turning the tv off and walking away? May I ask why? We have videos talking about the importance of this. Firestick always stays on even with the tv off if you don’t put it to sleep.
Also, they sell just remotes for pretty cheap:)
@@CuriosityCafe. I put brand new batteries in and in 1 hour it says “low batteries”. That has nothing to do with on/off. Also I have fire stick remotes in my basement and bedroom and I never turn them off and they have been going sting for over a year!!! So it’s a different issue not the batteries or how I’m using the remote.
Do you have a battery tester? I got some bad ones from amazon a while back. I doubt something is wrong with your firestick.
TYVM
What if a factory reset doesnt work on the remote? Just still getting a black screen but i can turn on the tv and change adjust the volume.
So keep in mind the tv power and volume is not through the firestick. Those two functions are remote to tv. Nothing to do with the stick. So you should looking into your hdmi port. Cords etc. reach out on Patreon if you need help
