Does the tv have be a smart tv for the usb keyboard to work ? Many people seem to be having the issue that a confirmed functioning keyboard is not responsive/not even lighting up. The OTG is powering up the firestick so that is working as well. Any suggestions ? Thanks!

Hey Doc, I bought the two pack of the above recommended OTG cables, but neither one will supply power to my Dell USB Keyboard. It seems that many here are having the same power problem. It does seem that the male USB from the keyboard doesn't plug completely into the OTG female, but it is in as far as it will go (maybe 1/8" - 3/16" exposed). Any thoughts or other recommendations?

@@jaquintI don't believe they are defective. I think they just don't work. I bought a different style adapter all together and still have the same issue. I wish Doc would take another look and perhaps provide a solution.

I think my problem is that my other Firestick that is stuck in a boot loop has not booted far enough for it to recognize the keyboard plugged into the USB connector. As stated in the video (13:08), certain Firesticks are in such a state that nothing will work to get it out of the boot loop. I decided to switch to Google Chromecast instead of getting another Firestick. That gives me an alternative to having to deal with Amazon.

Unfortunately it did not work for my two firesticks. firetv comes up but it goes no further. I get the feeling there is something else one has to do. Do you press all three at the same time ( tried that) or alt+print then I on firesticks coming on( tried that)
On my firetv stick 4k. I correct the issue by
removing the OTG cable and
power the stick directly. I thought maybe my OTG cable was bad. So I tried a new cable but the problem returned. Removing the OTG cable from my firestick 4k the problem was solved. I was using OTG cable to expand the storage of firestick.

Thanks for the video. Been trying this since the problems starting to occur. No luck when using my otg cable and following you instructions.
But what I noticed is that it seems like the keyboard does not get power. So the keystroks are useless. The small light on the keyboard does not light up when connected and powered with the otg cable. The keyboard lights up when I connect to my usb port on my pc.

I have the same problem. I think the design of my OTG cable is defective in that it does not allow the male USB connector for the keyboard to plug in far enough into the female USB connector on the adapter.
Thanks you guys for your input on this. It would be nice if the author could let us know if there is anything else we should try to fix this problem? This solution we are trying with OTG cable should do the trick I think but if the keyboard is not getting power then I would llke to know how to get power to the keyboard.

How did it work?
I have a 2nd Gen FireTV (not firestick) it boots to the Amazon logo the the screen goes to snow flashes then it could go to a GREEN screen then back to a snow screen.
I tried ALT PRT SCREEN and toggle "i" without luck. I have done all the other things like change the power supply, HDMI cable without luck and I didn't think they would have done
anything since the cables are verified as good. Any tips would be appreciated. thanks
I had the bootloop problem today. I tried everything possible, including factory resetting and nothing worked. I popped in on your video, hoping for a miracle, as you channel is a lifesaver. But today it didn't work. The problem wasn't with the Firestick, it was the TV. I had to do a complete factory reset on my TCL television, to get the HDMI ports to read the Firestick. I've saved this video as a reference in case this problem does in fact come up, saw too many people having the issue on forums with no real solutions, but I referenced you as a guidepost for others who need help.

Hi, Long time follower of you and are enjoying your advice/help on all matters fire stick. I have a 4K stick (2018 build) which is on a boot logo problem, I tried your fix but unfortunately like you mentioned in your video this option is not a “fix all”. You said you have two that you cannot get restarted. The difference I have with mine against the one you fixed is mine goes one step further in that the red blaze comes across the logo but it goes no further. I have tried all the fixes on TH-cam and other places but to no success. Amazon did not want to know, the man said it was time to update it anyway!! No help at all. Keep up the good work. Regards.
I connected the usb end of the power cable to my laptop to be used as the power source. The fire stick turned on showing the fire tv logo on my tv however even after pressing the 3 keys it the attempt was unsuccessful. Is using the laptop as the pose source and the keyboard the reason why?
I have firecube 3rd gen .and it got bricked 2 times in 1 year and Ive found a solution to bring it back.:) None of these methods on this video worked for me but thanks anyway.

My Firestick was Stuck on the Firestick logo time to time when it did I use to turn the TV Completely off than on sometimes twice 3 times than the Firestick would work fine Since the New update about a Week ago I haven't had a Issue Yet Australia .

Hi - Have you any solution to fix a fire tv cube which is stuck on boot loop? It seems that the USB does not power up the keyboard until 20 seconds or so into the Five TV page - so I assume that's why I cant get into safe mode.

I have tried two adapters, and neither one of them appear to power the keyboard. I have a very basic keyboard. The green light on it pops on for 1/2 second and then goes out. Your keyboard lights up nicely. Thoughts?

Any advice how to fix it, if no of your keystrokes helped? My stick is hanging in the fire tv logo with the coloured bow moving. I could not get it fixed with neither ALT+PrtScr+I nor CTRL-ALT-MENU-PrtScr+I nor with adb shell. I have a 4k Ultra from 2020.
So what are the odds this works on any particular fire stick? And how long should I be spamming the Alt+Print Scrn+i combination before I unplug the fire stick and try again?
Hi. Do I need to do anything to get a USB keyboard to connect to the Firestick? I purchased an OTG adapteur, using the Firestick plug as the power source the Firestick plugged into the TV. Maybe the keystroke solution only works when the Firestick is connected to a PC? The keyboard does work btw although the light doesn’t come on when plugged inti a USB plug or through the OTG adapteur so that made me wonder how the Firestick will recognise the keyboard. I’ve tried everything else (shame the remote control hard reboot doesn’t even work) so I’m hoping this works but obviously not if the keyboard isn’t connected haha.
I have the same problem with the keyboard. When he plugs his in it lights up!! Mine still seems dead when plugged into the OTG cable?? The keyboard and the OTG cable are both good!.
Aside from the solution not reported to work for all faulty sticks (so it could be that) I’m wondering if it’s worth plugging the stick into an independent socket rather than using a multiple plug adapter since it might not be getting enough power to power the usb keyboard. Failing that though I think the stick is destined to be binned.
Is there a similar method of curing this problem on a firecube?

Hi mate that's a great fix for boot loop but have you got one for firestick stuck in the Profile screen, I have too firestick 4K and the 4K max both when into Profile screen after amazon update. It's not like a boot loop at all.

ive got the problem where its stuck on the animated loading screen bit.
The firestick I have makes it past the black and white fire tv screen and then gets stuck at the color one where it's loading. It never loads the profile. Ideas?

Hello, my Fire TV 4K Max device is stuck on the logo at startup. I've done this many times but it doesn't work. When restarting with the keyboard, will Caps Lock be active or disabled?
I triple checked that my keyboard works when I plug in to any computer or laptop. When I plug into the usb adaptor, however, the keyboard does not get power. I ordered two adapters and tried them both (either hooked up directly just to the power cord or through the fire stick... no dice. Any ideas?) And this problem with the firestick is ridic. Selling parts that work and then pushing out things that break them. Sigh.
God knows how you figured that out. What I do know is that if you had a ZX Spectrum in the 80s, with fingers like that, you would have been great at Daley Thompsons Decathlon.

For sale...2, 2nd gen cubes, 1, 4Kmax, and a couple 4ks. I have 2 Nvidia Shields and they don't have all these side effects...searching for a 3rd one. Might wait and see if they come out with something new. Oh, and I also bought a couple Onn 4K boxes just to say I did and they run as good as any 4K fire stick I've owned...just not as many bells and whistles. I'm done with amazon gadgets.

it has already been answered multiple times. If the keyboard is not getting enough power you need to try another keyboard and/or different OTG cable

Brother has dropped his Firestick off to me to update for him. It's not even getting as far as the Fire TV logo - just stays at the Amazon logo. Tried keyboard Alt, PrScr + I but no luck.
My firestick is stuck in the loading phase. I know for a fact that I am not the only person that this has happened to. Y’all did some kind of update to mess with our fire sticks so we would have to get a new one and when we find out about this because Apple did this on the batteries in order for people to buy newer phones. There's a saying: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. No more pertinent than with Amazon updates. Keep them blocked then no problems like this.

My Amazon Fire TV cube (2nd generation) has suddenly STUCK in "ANDROID RECOVERY MODE". (see image)
Fire cube has blue light circling.
Options to “factory reset” / (or) “try again” are displayed, but am unable to select either option to execute command via cube buttons or remote.
Holding mute and volume down buttons for 60 seconds does NOT reset/restart
Unplugging device from power for 10 minutes does NOT change boot up status.
I do have a 3 port USB / ethernet hub attached to the cube.
Any guidance would be appreciated

The power goes in to the otg adapter , that is where you plug the keyboard in to and then you plug that in to the firestick
I had the problem and tried every possible thing to resolve the issue and it would not work on my new 4K monitor. I tried it on another monitor and it worked fine it was confusing me I thought it was the HDMI cable and I was close to the mark. If your monitor has HDMI 2.1 turned on you need to turn it off and it will fix the issue. Maybe that's a lot of other people's problem too.
I have the same problem but my screen changes to an error message stating cant load android with some options to retry and factory reset but nothing works, the keyboard fix didn't work either but maybe another will fingers crossed.
mine got stuck in a restart loop, used a different power cable AND wall adapter, worked fine
we had a power outage. you didn't mention that one. that's why it's not booting up
