I just installed a new fire stick. And it was trying to download the newest updates and install them. However, it would not complete the cycle. It kept on going back to the beginning, looking for updates and trying to install them over and over again. I followed your suggestion of removing any additional extensions I had to my fire stick such as a port for a direct ethernet connection . I plugged in the power source directly into the fire stick by itself . And that did the trick. It updated and installed whatever it needed to. I went through all the steps of hooking up a new fire stick after that. Once I was set and ready to go, I plugged everything back in the way I had it before with the direct ethernet connection and everything is working fine now. It just needed a direct power source to upgrade and install. Thank you so much for all your help.
Great Advice! I updated to a 2amp external plug and it cured my ills!!! I was using an otg cable with an external drive. The current draw was even too much for the stock amazon adapter here in the USA. I also switched back and forth between 2.4ghz and 5ghz sometimes. Wireless Interference can also mess up downloads! Since i stopped putting my Fire Stick Remote to sleep, i have had no more problems that you mentioned. When finished watching some thing, i just switch The Fire Stick off at the Mains Plug. I never put the Remote to sleep any more. Thanks for all your great info.

It worked. I took off the adapter that goes to a phone and put the fire stick adapter back in and plugged it in wall. After it finished optimizing it worked. Thank you
Thank you for your help. My USB cable was connected to the port in the back of my modem. I didn't provide enough power to properly update. I lost my amazon plug but fortunately I had another usb plug from an old Motorola phone. Now the the fire stick has updated properly. A month of trouble has finally ended.
Issue is the firestick just keeps saying updating then message comes on it fails then right back to updating. It doesn't connect to allow factory reset

FireTV 2nd Generation (square metal box). It's not the power supply. I have 3 of these FireTV 2nd Generation and swapped out the power supplies. Even used my bench supply which has plenty of current but no luck. I tried adding a keyboard to the USB port and a keyboard with a few stokes on power up to force a Recovery but no luck. The reset using the remote did not work. Any other tips would be helpful. I have let it sit for days with Optimization screen and no luck.
I did have that problem and also had an otg cable with extra memory attached, I switched from the tv power to the original power supply and problem solved. It is funny that it worked for quite awhile connected to the tv and then started rebooting until the switch.

I had to put my Firestick in the cold air from a fan to stop it overheating, and that was before the hot weather! however, my stick has packed up and just displays a screen of coloured pixels. Have done the usual, unplug and reboot etc and it makes no difference, so I am now trying to find out if I can get into the guts of the thing via my computer and the usb port, any ideas anyone. Obtain a compatible otg device device, USB-wired keyboard (desktop PC keyboard). Plug in all relevant connectors. keystroke sequences. cntrl, alt, i. Or, cntrl, alt, menu, print screen, i. Keep punching I Many other sites demonstrate this. It may not work, anyway It's not "fixed."
I never understood why it optimizes applications and storage after a factory reset only it makes no sense seeing as there's not much on it after a factory reset anyway if there was a button combination to do this when the process is actually needed the devices would probably run more snappy and run faster

We had a power outage. Now firestick looks to be stuck in some type of boot mode. Screen shows "firetv" with like an orange or red glow that keeps passing by. I've replace power source, cable, stick is plugged directly into the TV. Same results. Also it will not reboot using the remote. Is it time to replace it?
I did try all you have mentioned by myself and then repeated some of them with Amazon tech support. My unit was bricked and I was lucky that had some time left to claim the warranty, so they sent me what they claim it was a new stick (no remote or accesories), to me it is a refurbished unit for the way it was packaged up. Bottom line I had to send the faulty unit back and install all the apps again in the new one... I lost a couple of sideloaded apps than I can not find the apk any more 😫
Hi Adam Yes i had the same problem with my firestick i had the usb pluged in to the tv and noticed at times it would stop therefore i then connected the usb to the mains of the wall and since then has work perfectly Yes the usb to the tv doesn't receive another power Voltage therefore it causes the firestick to stall I allready knew this problem and this was allready explained by TANYA who is a great teacher like you thanks for the information and carry on with whose shity jokes!!😁🙋♂️

I tried all of those things and nothing worked so I had to do the factory reset unfortunately. I tried to avoid it because I have apps that are still working on there that you can’t get any more like Cinema. I know they were supposed to be shut down but mine still works. I also had the old Codi Xanax which still worked for me as well. I lost both of them. I think what my issue was is that I had the ad blocking apps as well as the app that turns off updates so that Amazon wouldn’t load it back up with adware. The Prime Video app stopped working and told me I needed to update in order to Have it work again. I should’ve just went in and let some of the updates take place but I never got around to it. I think what happened was the version from my fire stick was so old that it finally wouldn’t allow it to work anymore and it just kept going in the restarting loop. In the end at least the factory reset worked and then I had to go through about six updates to get it working again.

Hey guys, I'm totally lost, every other time we use our go to streaming app it shows no links on anything be it movie and or TV. This happened last night again but nothing would work, I even uninstalled and reinstalled the application.
Just turn it off and on again innit. Just turn the power off when all else fails. I have a similar problem where the the TH-cam app keeps stopping playback. Restarting the device always solves the issue even when clearing the app cache never works
After adding the additional usb 32 GB and otg adapter and it would just like restart randomly. (Keep in mind everything is brand new including the 32 GB and otg adapter)........ Now on another tv with a brand new firestick but old usb that I formatted to the appropriate format o. The usb. Anyways I had to unplug theft usb 32 GB as well from the OTG cable and it stop restarting. Also I had to plus my power source into the tv instead of the wall plug
I had this problem yesterday. I contacted Amazon and they said it is the power so they are sending me a new 1.8A power supply. Free by the way 🙂 Contact Amazon and say your firestick was fine before the update. They may just send you a free 1.8A power supply free 🙂
@@chaosband By their online chat. I told them that my Firestick was rebooting in a cycle after the update that i did yesterday. The guy went through a few things and came to the conclusion that the power adaptor was at fault so he asked me if i had another one for another device which i did. I tried that and it worked fine. so he said he will send me out a new power adaptor. The 1.8 amp one.

When I'm searching for a movie on cinema or bee tv etc the streams are usually for a different movie completely. How can I change this

I found power is an issue with firesticks most TV usb ports provide an inadequate charge it needs a minimum 5v 1amp charge from a mains power supply

The middle button and the return button hold it for 10 minutes it will work. No more problem uet.

Amazon asked me to try rebooting on a different TV, and nearer the WiFi router.
Turn off and on again, the usual stuff.
I found it's best to unplug from the wall outlet you need to reset it anyway at least once a week
