If you are asking how to do that without an active remote. It’s called the fire tv app. It’s free, in your phone App Store and controls the firestick. It's the directional buttons. I couldn't show you on our remote because every remote is different. But once you change the setting, anyone can figure that out my friend.

I have an LG and that feature didn't work so if you have an LG and it isnt working go to your TV settings, click All Settings, General, Devices, HDMI Settings, select Simplink (HDMI-CEC) and turn it on and you should be set!

I was able to train the FS remote to learn codes front to front. I was able to send codes with my Emotiva remote direct to the FS remote but I lost where to find this feature in the settings! Please tell me where it is?
I connected my Firestick to my Alexa app, as soon as I got it. Then control my what I want to see, Firestick through my Echo Dot speaker. Didn't need anyone to explain it to me, it's simple enough lol

Gary, we need to see what you are doing wrong cause I have 8 firesticks, 3 cubes and 2 fire tvs and not one single remote went bad. I think we need to see how you are using your stick. Are you putting the stick to sleep every dat? Regularly restarting it? Cause if you don't it will kill the batteries and your stick will lock up. Reach out on patreon if you need help. I bought the otg cable that you mentioned in an earlier video on how to expand the memory for the stick. It will only allow me to use 1 flash drive not 3. It will only see 128gb nothing more.

Amazon recently blocked the "remapping" feature (which is what you are referring to).They have since released a programmable remote which I did a review on a few months ago. Currently still on the channel. Thanks for your support

Most universal TV remotes dont work fully with firestick, IMO. You can navigate and press enter etc and do most tasks on the fire tv using TV remote but to install apps, show info, eg, where the hamburgur button on the fire TV remote is needed I have had no luck. Also, the home button of the TV remote will bring the TV smart OS home menu instead of the fire TV. Finally the voice button on my samsung TV remote always launches Samsung assistant and not Alexa on fire TV! If someone has had any luck completely replacing this. Please let me know!!!
You make a good point. That's why I provided links to ones that are fully functional with the firestick. If your universal remote is fully programmable, you can do every function. My Sony tv remote does everything except the voice function. This will be a common situation unless you get the sofabaton remotes

Yeah, your setting was setup that way at some point and those types of settings carry over to your new devices. So if you did it, or someone did for you many moons ago, it's always that way. Another cool feature of the firestick.
This all good and well But people will be watching this video hoping you will show them how to connect a remote. Problem is we can’t get to the menu we are stuck on the first screen that asks who is watching.
I believe you are missing the point of this video. Your issue is different. You can sync a remote with just the remote code (we have this video) or you can use the fire tv app on your phone to control it (we also have this video). Perhaps a different video for your issue.
I can't get to the settings to do what your talking about. I lost my re.ote and can only power it up on the bottom corner. Insignia. It says it cannot find my device and to be sure they are connected to the same network. They are. Am I gonna have to buy another remote?! I have a headache. Hope this made sense. I downloaded the app for my Android phone and my iPad. My Galaxy phone can control the Fire TV stick, but the iPad app just hangs on ‘connecting’. Too bad, as my iPad is always within reach.
You can do it with the ipad. You just have to use the app Airscreen and make sure to be on the same wifi and without a VPN. Works just fine. I do it all the time
You change the HDMI on the back of your tv. Then you can use your tv remote. You can also use the fire tv app to control your firestick. Have you never tried this? Do you own a smart phone? We have a video posted for a few years now on this method. It's very handy

Yeah, the remote doesn't use WiFi (which makes a smart tv). So it works fine

If you used the drive we linked and followed the directions you can get 2TB like we did in the video. We even have a full setup video for you.
What do you do if your remote stops working? Get a book and read for a few hours.

All that means is your model of LG does not have a universal remote. I have an older LG that also doesn't. You can get a universal remote to fix this.
