    I own Magnepan MGIIIa's and the Edifier r1700BT's for a small room. The little Edifiers are so musical and I'm not underwhelmed when I listen to them. I'm not surprised that they compare favorable with the Klipsches.

    I have the edifiers 1800 and continue to be amazed how good they sound. They have tone controls at the back so treble can be turned down and bass turned up ever so slightly; and then to my ears they sounds better then their size and price would suggest. Plus I can run my tv and amazon echo on them at the same time without needing to switch sources - I don’t think there are any speakers out there able to do that

    Again, when you consider the price gap, Edifier easily beats the Klipsch. The R-51PM's true enemy is S1000mkii's, which I believe would murder them.

  • @100bsl

    Klipsch more warmer sounding in midrange with slightly more bass. Edifier has slightly more treble. Am sure this can be tuned with the tone controls on the Edifier. Plus you can add a sub to the Edifier at the same cost of the standalone Klipsch.

  • @MrBenherrmann
    @MrBenherrmann 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    It should be taken into consideration that the Klipsch's cost a bit more than twice the price of the Edifier, and (and this is a big "and"), different speakers will excel with different genre's of music. Lstening to these two speakers with a set of Adam T5v's and a Velodyne subwoofer, the Edifier's held their own. On only one music track did the Klipsch's sound better (more lively) - in my opinion of course. The Edifiers seem to do quite well with orchestral and symphonic music. In my mind, I think the Edifier's won based on the variables I outlined above. Save yourself some money and get some.

    • @log791
      @log791 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all in my opinion. Actually, most Edifiers has a V-shaped frequency response, mostly useless for classical music (personal experience with Edifier 1600mkIII), and they have way too much treble. The Klipsch here sounds much more balanced, however, it lacks a bit of dynamism.

    What would you suggest:
    (Edifier s2000mkiii )
    Or
    (klipsch R51pm + klipsch r120 12” sub )
    Main use will be music listening with some movies here and there. Planning on hooking this to tv in living room for now and when budget allows later move this system to a small room with computer and buy a 5.1 for the living room to go with tv.
    I kind of like both - edifier for the overall sound + bass (no need of sub, but am i loosing mids and vocal crispness?) , and will the klipsch give more refined mids and highs and sub can solve the bass issue?

      Klipsch the fives instead? I have heard many reviewers saying they sound miles better that r51pm. I know they cost 800 dollars but I am assuming you have close to that budget since r51pm aren't cheap either. If your room is small enough you don't need a sub with the fives. Also if your room isn't that big and you want a sub i would go for r100sw klipsch instead 10" sub, it's close to 200 dollars and many audiophile like it.

    Edifier sounds as a "BT party" tipycal speaker, it almost bleeds down and high (wich it seems is a delightful thing for many people) freqs get messed up very quickly so you get a freq chaos. Klipsch sounds a lot more natural, compared to Edifier has better separation and more natural soundstage, I mean soundstage can't be just rumble...
    Not a big fan of Klipsch, however if I'd have to choose in this scenario, is the very clear winner.
    * When our ears are used to DSP maked up sound (artificial sound) is very difficult appreciate natural sound.

  • @williamtael8379
    @williamtael8379 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Guitars sound way too dull on the Klipsch, but on Edifier they sound too high, so I guess no winner on the "Metal Head" track.
    On the "Mortals" track the original sounds way more detailed and deeper than the other two speakers.
    The Edifier sounds more "fun" to listen, but the Klipsch is very good as well.

    Ofcourse these videos cant tell all the truth, but this one indicates Klipsch R-51PM as a terrible value for money!
    You would expect a much bigger difference. Listening them side by side seems a bit embarracing for Klipsch.
    Surely more natural and clear sound, but they sound much smaller than they look.
    Feels almost like if you've lowered Edifier's treble a bit, they would sound pretty close.
    And costs you THREE sets of R2000db.

    I have just ordered the Edifiers 1700BT for 129 Euros (!!) as they sounded more musical to me than the 1850BT. Should do another comparison with the 1700BT. Lets be honest here guys. IN NO WAY is the price difference between the Edifiers and the Klipsch worth it! The klipsch cost 445 Euros! If you disagree you must be delusional! In fact on some occasions the Edifiers sounded better. Can you shed some light please Digital Stereophony as there may be something that I may be missing in this comparison through my current speakers. Seriously a jump from 129 Euros to 445 Euros for what? I can't hear much difference. Very Negligible.

    • @M_773
      @M_773 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I bought the 1850s. There is no comparison with high end stuff like this though. The Klipsch are a serious pair and you need to hear them in person to believe it. TH-cam only tells you the comparison between high and mids and lows, bit the actual quality

    • @100bsl
      @100bsl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I feel the Klipsch is more warmer in the mids. The Edifiers sound is more forward in the highs and the mids are a bit recessed. Here the volume levels are matched so the only difference you'll hear is in the tonality of the speakers. The total volume and how these speakers sound at different levels is what makes the higher costing speaker more justifiable. But, I still feel that the tone controls on the Edifier along with the fact that you can add a subwoofer with cash to spare compared to the Klipsch makes it a better buy.

      No way in heaven or hell will the 1700 sound more musical than the 1850 in real life. The 1850 has a wider soundstage and depth without a jarring treble like the 1700. The 1700 was tuned for lower bass though, because it does not have a sub out.

      They recently refreshed a few lower cost speakers with a subout port. The r1700bt being one of them now r1700bts, is essentially a cheaper 1850db without an optical port and a nice wood grain wrapping(which I prefer over piano black). Also rated 5-6w lower(not a big deal), tho idk if there are any significant tuning differences between them.
