yes it's a dangerous game, most of them like to shillout from time to time, or all the time and it's a bad press to make fact based comparisons.
Free stuff can stop coming their way, and it's bad for business.

Very interesting.. I have the Polk S15s sitting next to some Klipsch 600Ms and some Wharfedale 220s all on audition and I don’t see/hear what you’re saying. The polks have fairly controlled bass with extended treble. Don’t seem muddy at all. Polk is generally known for giving more speaker for the dollar. See GR reasearch’s video on the Polk S20 with tear down and it has good quality components and great cabinet. ASR measured the Polk S15 and recommended them. Zero Fidelity’s review was favorable too. Based on my audition I’m going to recommend them to folks looking for a good all around speaker at a good price. They dropped to $115 just a few weeks ago. They’ll be going back but only because I really like the wharfedales. Btw ur churning out videos at an amazing rate. Keep it up!

I personally listened to the Klipsch, sony, and both polk's. I was very very disappointed in the polk's because the tweeter had no detail compared to the Klipsch and Sony. As a value stand point, the Sony's for 75 $ is a steel but if you have no problems going up in prise, I'd go with the Klipsch. Can't decide? Working the holiday last year & getting off work at 7 am. It dawned on me - it's Black Friday !!!
I ALWAYS stay home. Not a crowd person. So drove to Best Buy - did some listening & comparing. Picked up the black version of Polk S15 - sale price that morning $ 99 -
Now - I've listened to A LOT of Pink Floyd. So I have a pretty good sense of what should be where & when in the music. I personally thought they sounded pretty good. Now with that being said. I have a 14 band EQ which my turntable transports thru. Also a Kenwood amp driving a 12 in. sub. So I was able to modify/manipulate to get it right. I then hooked them up as front mains in my surround setup. Which is where they live now. Will be moving in about 4 months - so I will have different acoustics - so I get to play again. Also building up afew different systems.
I would assume for your tests - you listen to everything - NON EQ - FLAT settings bass & treble - WITH & withOUT the loudness - about the only to keep things EQUAL ??
I know some reviews you mention using this amp or that receiver.

    I have the R51 and the T15
The R51M pair is really nice. They are on my main system, my only gripe is they seem to struggle at higher volumes.
I them bought used for like $160. Not a super bargain but I can't complain. Got what I paid for.
The T15's are not great BUT, I found a couple pairs at thrift, ended up paying like $25 for two pairs. Definitely worth at least that much. They do look cheap and the sound quality isn't that great but good for areas like the garage or bathroom where "getting by" is acceptable.
On the auction site, sometimes people list them for under $70 a pair including shipping.

hey CheapAudioMan, I do have these 3 speakers already for more than a year,
    Polk Audio S15,
    Klipsch R51M and the
Dayton Audio B652 6-1/2" (previous model with a dome tweeter)
and thanks to your reviews I just bought the Sony Core Series, have to pick them up tomorrow at best buy, it was really cheap, $73 but I paid only $50 due rewards points, I haven't hear them yet, it will be tomorrow but I can tell you this, out of all those speakers that I already have the best sound for me is the one from the Dayton Audio from parts express, its just more balanced and buttery (like you say) the klipsch gives me fatigue after 20 min, still good to party but not for long listening sessions. The polk ones are just in the middle of the klipsch and dayton, so I'm really exited to listen the Sony core. Again, thx to you, keep it up with your reviews. Now one question, which one would be your best pick if you have to go one step up on the money by replacing the Sony core ones? I mean, the next level after this one, I really would love to have your opinion. Thank you again, have a wonderful weekend and Merry Christmas for you and your family.

I use the Polk T-15 speakers as cheap surrounds. Work OK in that application for mere spatial cues. Used to use them in my computer/office but upgraded to some ELAC 2.0 B6.2 Debuts pushing them with an old Pioneer A/V Receiver.

Doing a re-watch of this. I love the nature feel of this video btw. I also must say that the improvement of your videos (every aspect) is impressive. I like the first couple of vids I watched from you (one of your older ones), and now I'm checking out each new vid as you drop them. Really impressed. The only thing is that I have a pair of S15s. I love them! I was using a Douk amp and now I'm using a Fosi which is better. I'm now upgrading my Fosi to the new improved models that fixed noise issues in BT with BT20A.
When you said the S15s were veiled I was shocked! I then switched amps and realized how damn veiled and muddled they were. I use them for desktop (near field) and the clarity at low volume is what I love. I also had Klipsch R41s for a little bit. I replaced with the S15s. .The 41had much more detail, but too bright at times. The S15s are the best speaker you can get (when choosing out of the handful of budget speakers I've had lol). You just posted a notification about the Sony's being on sale. I'm a broke mofo at the moment so I got them used (returned new but with damaged packaging). I'm excited to try them this weekend. I heard so much from you and others on how they punch higher than their weight class and do so more than most any speaker. Damn..my gummies kicked in and I have no idea what I'm rambling about. Oh! Cross overs! I will ask in a more recent video, but who did you get your crossovers for the Sony's?

Great review! So nice to hear both the positive and the negatives. What did you drive the speakers with for the test? It has been my experience that Polk speakers, in general, don’t come to life unless you are running a clean amp near the max rated power. With a lower powered amp they sound just like you described. Night and day improvement with something like an Emotive A/B class separate amp. You won’t believe it’s the same speaker. Not to say your review was not fair, at this price range no one is going to be using an expensive receiver and amp. Just something to note.

That was my exact experience with the Polk S20's. They really got great with my Anthem Integrated 225. They sounded pretty good on my Emotiva too. They S15's didn't do it for me. I like the S20's though.

I ended up getting the Klipsch R-51M (and the R-41Ms for rear speakers). But as luck would have it, I managed to get some brand new Sonys from a big box store for $50 months later so I was able to directly compare them, and I still prefer the Klipschs. The Sonys need... special help. The Extra Bass button on my AVR or a subwoofer felt necessary to get the most out of them, but the Klipschs I could use in direct mode and it nailed movies and music alike (and the Sonys have a higher freq. range on specs sheets, to boot). But the Sonys *do* image better, so they have a separate setup in another room with a sub.

Just bought the Polk S15e (euro tuned spec) for £99 (!) in the UK. Partnered with a Tangent Ampster BT II at my girlfriend's house it makes a banging little system, the smooth top and mid of the Polks rounds the slightly bright Tangent perfectly and it's superbly listenable. I prefer it to my Naim Uniti Atom/Piega Classic 5.0 system which is 15x the price for easy listening Christmas crooners and the like. Interesting that you hated the S15s, I think they must have changed some stuff for the Euro spec "e" as it was balanced and tuneful, if not super fast in the bass, at least to my taste. I certainly wouldn't expect more for less than a hundy. Maybe partnered equipment has an effect. I might have to reassess my thinking on audio for my main system, get some smaller bookshelf boxes and a sub.

I got a pair of Polk S15, was really happy to finally get to try Polk, but was terribly disappointed, muddy like you said, didn't sound nearly as good as my cheap Dayton Audio B652-AIR with AMT ribbon tweeters. I use them as PC speakers hanging on the wall right next to my monitor right in front of me with a small Fosi Audio amp. Have you ever heard these speakers?
Edit: You just said something about not wanting a speaker to look that good in this price range, the S15 sure is pretty though, but that's another thing I like about the Dayton Audio, it looks terrible, badly placed feet and crooked nameplate, makes me feel like all the money goes into the sound lol
Edit: Just found your comparison with the Dayton Audio.
    Edit: Which should I get:
    Sony $198 New
    Fluance $159 Open Box
    Klipsch $109 Open Box

    Great review!
I have several low-mid range Polk products (M10's, Monitor 40 II's + CSR Center), and I've enjoyed their tone and balance, but they do seem sloppy in the top end. This is especially true in more complex music or when listening for detail. The mid-bass is strong, but the mid-range lacked clarity. They're 'enjoyable' to listen to, but they can turn into a wall of sound at time. They've all been demoted from main room use, and are in the garage/son's room.
Recently went to Klipsch RP-280F & RP-450C in the living room, and I really like them! I've toned down the treble a bit in the EQ, and I know they smooth out with break in, but you have to like a bright speaker. But I love the mid-range clarity that they still achieve. I even found some older Klipsch Synergies similar in size to the RF-51's there for $30 at Goodwill. Good shape and sound surprisingly good.
But some people prefer warmer speakers, and Klipsch is not that.

@@mark17840 Don't get me wrong, the Polks are definitely not bad. In fact, I often recommend them. They have great bang for the buck at the low end, and some really nice high end stuff! Soft domes are fine, but I don't feel they're as accurate in the top end as more ridged materials as Titanium. The AMT folded paper tweeters are super interesting! I still prefer horns in my Theater/Dance room, AMT's could end up back at home for some monitor style applications. And the upper range of the mid-ranges just don't sound as clear as higher end alternatives.
I digressed a bit, but I still have the Monitor's in my garage, for which they work fantastic. My son has my older pair of polks in his room that I bought new for $60 18 years ago, and they still sound great.
