I'm looking for a sub 500$ speaker set up for my small retail store. I was going to buy the Edifyers but what you said about the Klipsch's filling the room with sound made me change my mind. Thanks for the excellent review.
I have the R1850DB with a 200w Monoprice Sub and I turned down the Bass since I want the Bass to come from the Sub - the Sub SCREAMS and I get no distraction at high volumes (sub volume is at 12:00: no port huffs)
I just got my Kipsch R-51PMs set up in my living room. I have them in an enclosed book shelf, and since they're rear ported, I don't need the subwoofer I bought. So, that's going downstairs in the theater. :)
without the sub, it seems the edifier has more kick. Maybe it's the long throw woofer of the edifier. For a nearfield desk speaker, the edifier is better. Klipsch is better for a bigger space. I ran a klipsch passive 160rpm with external two channel and the kick is not as pronounced as this edifier.
I'm going for the 1280DB because they have Optical for my PC and cheaper than 1850DB. They are exactly the same just 100 euros less because a bit less RMS watt.
All the Edifiers are probably the same predictable high quality. One can get here on TH-cam the impression that some sound better but once bought, one probably doesn't notice flaws I think.
I thought the edifiers sounded better and for $200 less they left the Klipsch in the dust.

A little advice, or at least let's say a helpful opinion, u need to check out the Edifier R2750DB's for less than 390 USD (R-51PM costs 750 USD here) and u get almost better sound quality than the Klipsch R-51PM because it has 3 way high quality drivers, a 6.5 inch woofer, 4 inch mid and a tweeter of course. Also lots of bass and has a sub-out too. The only problem (at least for me) they are huge compared to regular bookshelf or computer speakers. But if your desk is big enough, which yours is, they fit perfectly.
According to Edifier, their R2850DB’s have now been released to replace the R2750DB’s out there in the marketplace. They’ve upgraded Bluetooth to v5 and the remote control unit has been given a facelift and I think that they may have also added another input (not 100% sure about that). Otherwise I think that they’re basically remained the same. I’ve also been led to believe that overall sound reproduction from the Edifier R2000DB’s compares very favourably with the R2750DB’s/R2850DB’s for a lot less cost…

@@Driver2616 apparently they did, I looked out for the old version on their web page and it doesn't exist anymore. Strangely though we still have the 2750DB instead of 2850DB here in Turkey, due to the pandemic I guess...And it's now unfortunately significantly more expensive than before :/
Tip - have a look at the Edifier S1000 MKII speakers. They’re less expensive than these Klipschs but the sound they reproduce is fantastic. They have all the inputs that this R1850DB has except the sub output, but they don’t need extra bass.
in Australia the Edifiers are $170 the Klipsch are $1050........not really a close comparison, maybe the s2000mk3 wld had been better their $400 aud n are insanely great for the price
Very interesting review. I’ve actually been looking at both of these speakers so this review was great for me. Klipsch definitely outperformed the Edifier as a tv/movie speaker and music speaker with a sub added. However, if using for just music without the sub, I preferred the Edifier. So now my question is do I invest in a sub or not….hmmm.
@@sazzad_hossain.s Do u need a powered sub combined with powered speakers(if that even is a thing), or sub uses speaker's internal amps? Also if u buy klipsch do u need to buy a klipsch SUB or can u go with something cheaper like the Edifier T5 or kanto's SUB8?

Hi, No, those e4.5 doesn't have rca output or a pre-sub out... If you want to use a sub parallel to ur presonus, then you need to split ur audio source into two.. one goes to ur e4.5 and the other to ur edifier sub... then set the frequency cut off on ur sub to whatever you like, I would recommend 80hz since e4.5 will play as low as 70hz and the sub can play anything below 80hz cut off 👍
So a question? I have the R51pm, and want to buy a turntable, so is it better to pair it with a pre amp turntable, bluetooth turntable, or just a turntable without the extras? Thanks in advance, aI enjoyed the video as well.
8 months later but well. Maybe someone will have the same question today. I'm about to buy these Klipsch, for what I've heard, a good external preamp will make your turntable sound better than the integrated preamp in the Klipsch. Try to get a tube preamp.
@@rael2099 Yes I have my R51PM's connected to a preamp. Not tube but the sound is excellent altho I'm itching to get a sub since the bass needs more oomph for electronic music listening
