  • This is a 15 year old Sig - Kadet Senior with an 80" wing span and a new OS 120 engine. Jim also customized this kit by enlarging the elevator and rudder, converted it to a tail dragger, added wheel pants, added a stiffening cable to the tail, and installed a new WS and cowl. Lots of work to make this plane a great flyer and quite a unique plane
    Engine: OS 120 nitro
    Prop: Falcon 15-6 wooden
Servos: Futaba S9151 servos (ctrl surf), Savox SC-0252 (throt),
    Receiver: Spektrum AR620
    Battery: Nimh
4-40 linkages, pull/pull cables on rud & tail wheel

There are higher-performing aircraft than the Kadet Senior, but I don't think you'll find a better flying design that is as forgiving, stable, kit-bash-able, and with as broad of a flying envelope. I've got an old Senior with a Saito 100. It flies nice and slow, at just a tick off of idle. Sounds AWESOME on a slow fly-by!
The Kadet airframe is quite capable and can teach a pilot how to properly use the throttle stick to control altitude. Great video. And, if you've ever tried, you know how hard it can be to keep a plane in the viewer while filming! Good job to the pilot, and camera guy! 👍

Excelente avión, muy noble. yo tengo uno con motor a gasolina y se comporta de maravilla

Glow for me was a difficult era...I rarely had reliable engine power. Took a lot of learning to get the mixture right. Air venting under the carb due to a bad seal too. I don't mind the oil mess. I do love the power and flight times though. I have a Seniorita Sport ARF, one of the last (for now) and it's 700 watts electric. You guys probably find this post controversial, but I'm just being honest. I couldn't learn engines. Hence, I'm very happy with the brushless power and lipo battery.

No argument from me, I personally am all electric and do not own any nitro or gas. It's just so much easier and cleaner. I'm flying while other people are tinkering with engines. Only way I would fly gas is if my wife approved of a Moki radial LOL, that sound is delicious. A lot of people in our club do fly nitro and gas though. For the really really big stuff (over 120) it makes sense still, but 120 and under I'm all for electric.

I saw one of these just two months ago. I still have and fly a great planes pt-60 otherwise i probably would have bought it, maybe next time. Thanks for the video and great job on the kadet senior

Gotta love the smoke trail from a glow engine

Great airplane the big Kadet. 1.20 is a lot of engine for it. I'm glad I'm not paying for the fuel😀

We had a smaller engine on it at first and you would think the 1.20 would be too big but it's really not. We think it flys even better and more stable with the bigger engine. I've honestly never had a high wing plane hover as easily as this one. The rudder and elevator surfaces were extended from stock. We can do a more in-depth build / modification video if requested

Wow! I thought the 1.20 would be “too much” engine for this airframe but it looks like it flies around with authority. I like it. Did you strengthen any parts to compensate for the additional power or is it pretty much per plans aside from the struts? What size prop?

Prop size is 15x6 and enlarged the elevator and rudder, converted it to a tail dragger, added wheel pants, and added a stiffening cable to the tail

Back in the day, electric power was too expensive and too weak.
