For ads, you have to hide every time since they dynamically change with every visit. But for more permanent things on the site, Safari saves it and they remain hidden. I’m just glad my iPhone XR is capable of receiving this update. I purposefully take care of my things so they last as long as possible. iPhones are powerful devices that are capable of lasting a long time. It’s a shame after some time we have to replace them because they are no longer supported.

Unfortunately for me, the iOS 18 beta five has broken Apple notes. Now whenever I click on an internal link in Apple Notes, the app crashes on multiple devices rendering Apple notes useless. 😢

Cool that elements on webpages can be removed. I do that quite often on my computer, I use “inspect element” and delete the sections that get in the way (for example the cookies thing that takes up the whole screen and you have to either accept all or turn off a hundred toggles 🙄). Also, some of those CC icon changes are quite bad and I hope they revert them in the next update :/. And lastly, the rounded square icon for today’s date in Calendar is horrible and wrong, what was wrong with the circle? 🤨

The merge feature in Photos for duplicates got a whole lot better, I’ve been having some duplicate images, I tried to merge them several times only a few got merged, it’s only after beta 5 I noticed that I had 586 duplicate images since 2023😂.
Have notifications changed for apps that require faceid? Previously they just said 'notification' and you had to use faceid just to see the notification content. Now it looks like it shows the content without needing faceid, but you can't action anything on the notification without faceid.
I have nerve pain in my wrist and hand and these UI changes to make you have to scroll around instead of just tapping a very accessible tab bar at the bottom (photos) is just causing me more pain and is objectively slower to navigate than iOS 17
Like why did they had to get rid of the carousel entirely? Just put a switch on there and keep it disabled by default. Personally, I will miss it as I rediscovered a lot of old photos I had forgotten about.

18.5 keep software failing my SIM card reading at random times and even during live phone calls on my 12 mini. I would need to reboot the phone and the iPhone works fine until the next fail
I do it, I’ve been on developer beta on 15 pro max since day one, and I do every year and have never had a problem. I think theoretically it could slightly effect long term battery health because these updates can be more taxing, and who knows maybe you could have a software issue, but honestly if you have backups and all that I wouldn’t be too worried because if it is buggy or you don’t like it you can always factory reset and restore from backup and get iOS 17 back

I’m on iOS 18 developer beta 5 came from the public beta 2 and the battery life on beta 5 has gotten better in my opinion.
Apple needs to bring back the Carousel as a customized feature. I was really enjoying it.
Currently downloading beta 5 now on my iPhone 14.

New safari feature is a middle ground. The ad provider gets their view of the ad but if the user wants they can just dismiss it

18.1 beta 1 is a higher build than 18.0 beta 5, even though it has less features. 18.1 will be at feature parity with 18.0 after 18.0 is released.
