I got the E40 and I really like them! The sound stage is a lot bigger then I expected from a pair of IEMs (mostly use on/over ears otherwise). The tips are great in that you get a lot of sizes and they fit comfortably BUT they let through some sharp high end that makes them less ideal for me as a hard hitting drummer. I've had to use other headphones over these while tracking (and that works ok) but have now bought some 3d party foam tips now that I will try out...
I just got a 1more triple driver and here i am looking at some iem’s, this is not a good sign. But i do love negative profile ones. E50 is at the territory of RHA t20i though, so that would not be an easy decision. You have pinnacle p1 also. Both tend to be lower than 200 at times
Went through a high end headphone shop in Tokyo and tried most of the similar price range in ears phones. These stood out to me over all the others, like you said it was the bass and the volume was crisp. Unfortunately they got stolen a few months ago. The only way to get over the loss is to upgrade... right? Thinking e70 but hmmm

@@performermagI’m sorry. I obviously failed to pay attention to the date but I appreciate the reply. I own the ATH IM50, their former budget IEM for around $50. They have this sort of boomy bass that's lacking in tightness & control and also loses a bit in treble extension. Would you consider the E40 a worth upgrade in terms of sound?
Hi Sam, unfortunately we do not have a pair of the ATH-IM50 to compare to. I would say bass control on the e40's was good, although the 50's and 70's were quite a step up. For only $99, though, the 40's performed quite well.
Damn dude it's nice for somekind of lamb of god shits. Can clearly hear all the instrument. You can feel the low freq comfortably. But imho the shape of this iem not really comfortable in my ears
I listened to E50 today as they did not have E40 in the store, well I was not very happy with the sound. They are relatively natural, however there is some strange notch at 200 to 300 hertz, not really sure what is happening. I expected them to sound better for this price, but maybe I should try different tips. I will try to find E40 and listen to those, however not sure they will sound good enough if E50 were like this.
I need shures large black rubber tips as all others have been too small for me. Even those comply tips I've bought and tried were a bit too small for me. Will shures fit on these or are the comply ones they come with the largest they come with?
There are 4 tips included with each of the ones we received, and the E70's come with an even cushier tip set that's pretty darn comfy. Sizes s-xl, I believe, so most ears should find at least one tip set to fit.
im into hip hop and grime music instrumentals and also do my own music with logic pro x. i already have monitoring headphones for my music. im after some in ear on the go headphones that will be nice and loud and bass is good. is bluetooth louder than cable? because my bluetooth headset is louder in bt mode than in cable mode so im just wondering would it be same if i bought bluetooth in ears? or would it be better to buy cable headphones and have a portable amp with my phone?
I should add the quality jump from 40s to 50s, its negative. 😞 At least for me. Observed a considerable decrease in detail towards the higher end. It was so evident that I just switched back to the 40s. Don't have a 70 yet. So can't comment. But if you are looking for an upgrade, don't go from 40s to 50s.
I bought one of the ATH-E50 and has no bass at all , I thought that they will sound as good as the ath m50x but not at all , the 1 More in ears 3 drivers that I also had sound much much better with great bass and cost the half , don't buy one of these if you like bass waste of money

if you have ever had the nightmare of trying to replace the shure 215 cable, the fact that you removed that cable so easily immediately sold me!!!

lost my se215 today. looking for a worthy upgrade 😂
Are the e70 have more bass than the e50 ?
@Performer Magazine they could easily charge $2,000 for the e70 and I would still be amazed. Whats your source, genre and are you using flac files?
Do you know how they compare with the Sennheiser Momentum in-ear, Shure, and Beyerdynamic in the $100-200 price range?
Do these in-ear monitors provide you ear protection as well? Keeping the decibels to a safe level overall when playing out?

Which from the 3 is close sounding to the ATH M40x.. in your opinion ?!
Hi Cat, unfortunately this video review was completed almost 5 years ago, so it's difficult to recall how each model sounded, specifically.
Which ones are best for live performances?
the E70's
what should i buy?
shure se535LTD or E70 or weston AM pro 30
The E70's are our favorite

I can’t tell if those are Mmcx cables or an AT propriatary cable? Does anyone know?
Sorry, it's been about 8 years since we reviewed these, so I don't recall exactly.
