I have used the KZ ZS10 Pro's on stage every week for several years now. I just recently broke them, though, and switched to the KZ ZSTx. I have also used the TRN-V80 at home for a while now. I saw that but did not hear any. AND I'm looking for an open back set of in-ears! I would love to have great sound quality and still be able to talk to by band mates! Anyways, I did not notice any lack of isolation
Hi Jimmy, I'm an amateur drummer and I'm hesitant about the BASN Master or the KZ Pro, which one do you think I could choose. Thank you for your feedback Rui from Luxembourg (Small country in Europe)
Great video, I'm looking to get one. Now I have a question. Do you plug them directly to you PC or do you have a separate audio interface? I saw someone recommending the Audient Evo 4 audio interface. I see people recommending these for gaming and other stuff, but do I need to configure the EQ? Or they are plug and play out of the box? Thanks
Hello Jimmy. Thanks for the great vid! What tips do most of these have (foam or rubber)? Most of our team uses the old tried and true KZ ZSTs but we switch out the stock rubber tips for foam to get a better seal. Wondering if using foam tips on all of these might have “leveled the playing field” a bit more and affected your assessments. Thanks again and take care.
If you get the in ear cable with the microphone in it, it tends not to work well with an in ear monitor. The in ear is stereo and is TRS where as the phone connection is TRRS.
I really enjoyed watching this very educational video, many thanks! I'm an advanced age mainly electric guitar player on my worship team and using CCA 10's. They are a big step up from the Shure SE215's I was using, but I'm still not very happy with the tonality of my guitar using the CCA's. I also sing backup, so I have pretty much the whole Aviom mix in my ears and need to hear the vocals clearly. I'm leaning toward getting the KZ AS 10 or ZAR, possibly the AS 16 Pro. Which of these might you recommend for my situation, or do you have any alternate ideas? Seems like KZ has new models every week, hard to keep up. Thanks 🙂
I have the KZ AS-10's and I have to say I was impressed with the sound quality for the price... as with all, good quality foam inserts are a must. Set lasted about a year of everyday use, then one of the internal connections became loose, probably could have disassembled and repaired it, but for the cost, I just got another set... at least I have spare parts for the future maybe 🤣
They are definitely budget ears, but for the price, you can’t beat them. If you have more money, the KZ AS16 or I’ve really been enjoying the Sigmot ae500
In my opinion, if it's gonna be the same or more than a Shure option I'll stick with Shure, which most people think is the industry standard, a reputation of quality and reliability precedes them strongly.
Man Great channel also, thanx for sharing but wow so many options out there, i was going to get the SIMGOT EML6 and now im watching another video, just got more confuse. hehe Cheers! Best regards
For the BASN, put the plugs in your ears first, then rotate the cable behind your ears. Because they spin 360, you don’t have to consider cable position while putting them in. I have a pair. They don’t sound good to me. Blanket feel. Good bass and decent highs. The high-mids are not there. Makes everything sound bagged. Guitar tones don’t sound as textured as they should.
I’ve been using KZ ZAX iem for a while now, they’re definitely worth a mention. Great for me anyway as a bass player, lots of bottom end but with the clarity of mid and high end eq. Highly recommend
I commented about the Pelican 1010 Micro Case and then I saw you have the link. I have two because they are roomy and great protection. I even replaced the knockoff case I got with my custom molds for that.
I have to say I’m surprised that you have 3 sets by KZ in your top 5. With options from Moondrop, Tangzu, Truthear, Tin Hifi, QKz, Blon, Kiwi Ears, and so many more, I think you need to expand your listening.
I'm shocked to see KZ in there too. I'm new to IEMs, but my first pair is by KZ and it's absolutely bullshitting on frequency response. They list 7hz-40khz. These things can't even produce 40hz worth a damn, much less anything lower. They are very clearly missing a massive portion of the lower frequency range. Misleading specs makes me doubt a brand entirely.
I've been using the CCA C10s off Amazing for about 2 years now, but I definitely need to change. They can't handle low frequency sounds very good. Probably gonna try those DQs you've mentioned.
I've been using the old Shure SE215's since....forever. I tried some $100 Westones that got stepped on before that. I find that as a bass player (mostly) what makes the biggest difference is using as long a foamy tip as I can find so it gets down in my ear. The little rubber things just never do it for me. I recently got the 3 driver Drumeo ear buds. Not sure who makes them but they look very similar to some of these and the case is identical to the 2nd pair. Unfortunately they take a different size foam ear piece and I can't find one long enough to really work. I usually end up back with the Shures eventually.
I have hearing loss and have hearing aids. I use my tv box that connects to my hearing aids via Bluetooth that I connect to my monitor feed from the mixer great sound. If there is increased noise on the stage I use Phenyx Pro with the KTZ-AS10 both due to Jimmy’s reviews. Great sound isolation
Hi ! I have Tinnitus & Hyperacusis so it's a major issue for me to find a good amount of isolation while playing music alive (I'm a bass player). Could you give me more info about your setup ? Thank you
I definitely am giving my true opinion of these because these are the ones I tried. I’ve tried several other brands since this video came out if you wanna go check those videos out. th-cam.com/video/dTDXJh9Q7xk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NCFicIww7LTpxZGw
You are so wrong for the 189 USD... That is not budget and the competition in that price range is huge... Shuoer S12, Tangzu Heyday, IKKO OH10 are just a few to name.
2 things...you're right about the competition being huge in that price range. I made a video of these because these are the ones I've used and were sent to me. You're wrong about "budget" it's just like I explain in the video. There are cheaper options (like I show in the video) but ANYTHING under $200 in the in-ear world is considered budget. Just do a quick google search of 64 ears, Empire, Alclair
I've used Westone and KZ universals and it help give me direction of what I wanted in IEM's. That's when I jumped to Alclairs Tours 3 driver CIEM's, and enjoyed those for almost 5 years. My current CIEM's are 64 Audio A12t's... sound and fit great... but the headroom on my A12t's are unmatched. On stage, my Alclair Tours 3 driver gets the job done... after going customs, it's hard for me to go back to universal IEM's.
DQ series sound great i agree. But they are so uncomfortable after only 10 to 15 minutes. The big bump on the housing is a terrible design and causes a lot of discomfort. So much so I had to grind it off so my money was not wasted. They are a ergonomic nightmare.
I feel like every decent pair of IEMs needs the cinch bead as well as the memory wire in the ear hooks, I don't understand why they leave those things out, it's such a cheap addition but it elevates the IEMs SOOOOO much
Just got my KZ DQS’s I’ve been using them nonstop, thank you Jimmy also for the recommendation and video! 😁

Set lasted about a year of everyday use, then one of the internal connections became loose, probably could have disassembled and repaired it, but for the cost, I just got another set... at least I have spare parts for the future maybe 🤣
What did you get?
Are the KZ DQS suitable for a druming inears monitors? Awesome videos Dude! :D
They are definitely budget ears, but for the price, you can’t beat them. If you have more money, the KZ AS16 or I’ve really been enjoying the Sigmot ae500
depends on preferences but i suggest flat monitor for instrument monitoring
Do they have mics? Greets
you can order them with mics
Cca pla 13 and Truthear x Crinacle-Zero red
Which one better and pls suggest with DAC
Pls help
I’ve never used any of those but if I do I’ll let you know
In my opinion, if it's gonna be the same or more than a Shure option I'll stick with Shure, which most people think is the industry standard, a reputation of quality and reliability precedes them strongly.
shure ís great
Man Great channel also, thanx for sharing but wow so many options out there, i was going to get the SIMGOT EML6 and now im watching another video, just got more confuse. hehe Cheers!
I am interested in Hybrid earphone Can i go with KZ ZAT ?
The ZST? It's the cheapest...Or did you mean the ZAR? It's good but more expensive but also worth the money if you have it
@@HeyWorshipLeader KZ ZAT is new version
LOVE IT
what do i plug this into?
Thank you so mouch. After your Video i bought the Basn inears. Im very glad. They sonds better than the Shure vor 113 Euro.
I have old KZ ZST-X for years, and I love it so much.
Any idea which KZ should I pick for upgrade?
How would the KZ ZAR sound against the Shure SE215? I dont know which to get 😢 currently using KZ ZS10 Pro
What do you find lacking in the ZS10's? What instrument do you play? Would you recommend them for bassists?
I'm a noob to in-ears, but looking to up my band's live show this year. Do these include receivers and transmitters?
It's the only way it's gonna work brother 🤣🤣 no recievers no transmitters = no point of in ears 🤣🤣🤦🏾♂️
@@revelationpeleti5654 lol i know, just asking if they're included
One question are this good for gaming, if so in what way? Thanks in advance.
they all great, bassy ones always has edge in gaming
Anyone experiencing hiss on KZ Zar whenever you hit a note? When I am not playing, there’s no hiss. TIA
Don't buy KZ
So does the KZ- have a USB-C type for my pixel 7?
I'm sure you can buy an adapter...but there isn't one like that in the case
I had 215s for like 5 years, I just got KZ AS16 Pros which are less than half price and sound waaaay better
Thank you
I think that would be a 360 degree rotation. 😊
which one has the best noice cancelling?
bruh
You didn't discuss noise cancellation. I also want to know how they will protect my ears from the loudness of the gig.
The KZ DQS are ok, but not comparable to high budget earphones
...not sure if you're really giving your true opinion for these
I definitely am giving my true opinion of these because these are the ones I tried. I’ve tried several other brands since this video came out if you wanna go check those videos out. th-cam.com/video/dTDXJh9Q7xk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NCFicIww7LTpxZGw
@@HeyWorshipLeader Thank you
You are so wrong for the 189 USD...
Just do a quick google search of 64 ears, Empire, Alclair
i use the ones that game with my samsung galaxy s8, sound alright to me
I've used Westone and KZ universals and it help give me direction of what I wanted in IEM's. That's when I jumped to Alclairs Tours 3 driver CIEM's, and enjoyed those for almost 5 years. My current CIEM's are 64 Audio A12t's... sound and fit great... but the headroom on my A12t's are unmatched. On stage, my Alclair Tours 3 driver gets the job done... after going customs, it's hard for me to go back to universal IEM's.
true esp w smth like a12t
Must be a HUGE market, cos there are THOUSANDS of IEM choices, my god!
for real
DQ series sound great i agree. But they are so uncomfortable after only 10 to 15 minutes. The big bump on the housing is a terrible design and causes a lot of discomfort. So much so I had to grind it off so my money was not wasted. They are a ergonomic nightmare.
Bro, try KBear KS2.👍
I feel like every decent pair of IEMs needs the cinch bead as well as the memory wire in the ear hooks, I don't understand why they leave those things out, it's such a cheap addition but it elevates the IEMs SOOOOO much
Agreed!
Looking for a hard case for your in-ears? Buy a soap case from any dept store, It will protect your gear and will cost about $2.
gave the DQS away for free because the little bump on the inside hurt my ears after a day Lol
IEMs are awesome, but iem tips are such stressful rabbit hole.
Agreed!
I got one in mind 😎 nvm it too cheap lol but it the DCMEKA AO9
Anything under 400 usd is imo "budget"
