    I must comment for the algorithm, even if I'm not intelligent enough to comment something more meaningful. Thanks as always James!

    If you get some IEMs with the right specs and pop on some sound-isolating tips, they can totally sound as good, if not better, than over-ear headphones.
    For example, my KZ ZS10 Pros definitely outshine my Sennheiser HD 280 Pro.

      offstage support persons can use (relatively inexpensive) passive noise blocking (or active noise cancelling) earmuffs on top of IEM, covering the bone behind your ears, further lower ambient noise, but do note that passive noise reduction is not even across the spectrum

      And they cost half as much. My kz zs10 five driver IEMs were about $60 CAD.
      Even cheaper, kz zsn pro X, while not quite as nice, are still good and only $30 CAD

      I've used KZ for many years. I was looking at getting another pair and noticed these - KZ x HBB PR2. Do you have any suggestion on these? Are they better than KZ 10 or KZ ZSX?

    2:43 referencing occupational exposure limits for workplace noise, 85dBA is the 8 hour allowable exposure limits in a single day, half the exposure time with every 3dB increase (of course there is an absolute limit)
    e.g. 91dBA is 2 hrs, 97dBA is 0.5hrs

    Good thoughts as always. Although it may seem like a very large investment initially, custom in-ear monitors are something to at least consider. In my opinion they provide significantly greater sound quality, -20db or greater ambient sound reduction so volume can be safer/lower and higher comfort. I know that you could buy 5 nice universal in-ear monitors like the ATH-50 for the cost of my 64 Audio A6t customs but in the context of your rig (guitar, amp, pedals, mic) it may not seem out of line. As an added bonus I have been able to to use the customs as effective ear plugs in extremely loud venues. Clearly not for everyone but at least worthy of thought. Cheers

      Yeah I'm on the fence about pulling the trigger on some custom molds. The problem is that I want to try them ALL, but that'd cost like $10k that I don't have available for such a project.

    What do you suggest as a drummer that loves bottom end !! Yes definitely tight budget!

    ok as a gamer, i just want something comfortable for 6-8 hours of use. every in-ear or earbud i've every used though, i can only do for like 20minutes.

      Fit really matters. I have smaller ear canals, so even the foam tips tend to feel a little too snug over time

    I play bass and I'm 55 and have hearing loss from working around loud equipment my whole life. I have adjusted my overall monitor mix EQ to compensate for my hearing loss and love it. I also use a BackBeat to get that feeling of having an amp behind me.

      @AttawayAudio  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice!... that you figured out a workaround. Sorry about your hearing loss! I'll have to checkout the BackBeat... buttkickers never really felt realistic for me.

    I'm curious.. what editing softare do you use? In my case, it is DaVinci Resolve (which it's free! No subscriptions all.) DaVinci is pretty much like Premiere Pro but it has almost all features expect for a few.

    I see you have the PreSonus StudioLive in your videos. Have you used/what do you think about their EarMix16M for in-ear monitoring? This would be a good video with your take.

    Thanks James. Idea for next video maybe too nerdy and might not be for the broad audience but “AVB networking”. Mac inclusion in ABV system (as Mac’s support it natively). Worldclock, Recording over AVB, Live processing on Mac (StudioOne for example or other) and returning to live aka live plugins (but over AVB). Clocking the network. Which stream goes where. Which stream brinks the clock. One or two Mac’s for recording or live processing (plugins) etc. Full set up. Maybe base on Presonus, maybe not. Will be glad to hear your suggestions.

    Hi! I’m new to your channel. I really appreciate your thoughts! I’m wondering if you have any recommendations for in-ear monitors for drummers? I have tried a few but I find them really thin sounding. No lows and mostly highs. Have to turn them up too. Been using wedges for many years but need to go IEM’s now. Appreciate any ideas you have. Thank you!

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Are you sure they're fitting properly? That's the first thing I check when people say their IEMs are thin. If they're not sealed in your ear canal, the tiny drivers can't produce the low frequencies in a way you can perceive them.

    • @arthurphillips1512
      @arthurphillips1512 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I tried a few different ear tips including big, small, hard and soft. The couple IEMs I tried were always pretty tinny sounding.

    5:30 I take issue with En Vogue's My Lovin (Never Gonna Get It) being a 'terrible song', it's worth listening to if only for the brilliant acapella break towards the end. Maybe you never got that far!

      Maybe it's because I have a special relationship with 90s pop... in that most of it makes me cringe.

    Get a set of truthear hexa IEMs, like a significantly better version of the 7hz Salnotes Zeros
