I appreciate the comparison, people will complain that you can only compare bikes inside the same size/class. That's not how shopping and desirability of bikes works.

Thank you, I don't have many bikes at my disposal to compare. Glad someone appreciated it.

Definitely agree about the irritating centre stand bumps on the GS, now looking to get a Norden for a light more off-road adventure bike.

I like the Norden a lot. I wouldn't go back to anything heavier for going off-road. I know the GS is very capable, I just feel so much more confident on a lighter bike as an intermediate rider.

Just got my '23 a few weeks ago and only have about 250 miles as winter has hit. I noticed wtih the cold start issue that if I open and close the throttle slowly and fully 3 times prior to starting it doesn't stall out. Even with the issue I love it so far!

Grats on the new bike! And thanks for the starting tip, I will try that. I've found if I give it just a little bit of throttle right after it starts, for a few seconds, it doesn't die.

Yep, I’ve had the cold start issues as well.

Definitely ECU adjustment, compensation for removing the stupid cat. Quite normal, the new 890’s don’t have the cold start issues anymore. One question, since you obviously have the same opinion about the bikes in general as I do. I am also plant to sell my BMW R9T in this case, always wanted a GS 1250 Adventure. But like you even though I know it’s the best do it all bike one can buy today. Just to heavy to big, compared to middle class adv bikes. Plus to me Norden is the best looking and most capable apart from KTM’s due to low centre of gravity with the tanks. Only BMW can match that with the boxer twin set low in the chassis like any other R-type BMW. My R9T is also remarkably stable and nimble. But it doesn’t have slipper clutch and I need that even though it does have the hydraulic clutch. But it’s still not overly soft clutch pull. The engine braking is to much even if on this bike it’s how it should be. But I am wondering how is it on the Norden the clutch pull. Along with the slipper clutch does it really need a hydraulic set up, is one finger clutch little lever option from Camel adv enough to make the clutch pull light enough?

Thanks for the feedback. Last time I started it, it did not die, but it does run at a really low idle for about 20 seconds. As far as the clutch pull, it feels pretty light to me. I have carpal tunnel and firm clutches cause me pain, I haven't had any issues on the Norden yet but I also haven't had a chance to do a longer ride yet, it's still too damn hot here. 110 today.

@@chasingtrail cool man thanks. I agree the clutch pull is almost as light as on the BMW and they have the hydraulic clutch. The one finger clutch option by Camel adv moto is a very good solution, gets even easier to feather the clutch while on a rugged section of gravel road. You should try it, not expensive, easy to install😉

Very nice comparison. Sorry your right hand was going numb. I suspect it has nothing to do with riding motorcycles.

Thanks for letting me ride your bike. And yeah, I think it's just carpal tunnel. The only solution for that long-term is surgery, but I'm not there yet.

Do you feel less heat with the decat?

Less heat, but it's still there.
