Yes and no. The role Franz Beckenbauer played was called a libero but it was in a back three with two man-marking defenders against the back then usual two striker formations. No zonal marking like in a four at the back formation. It was similar to a sweeper but a more playmaking and more offensive role, the real quarter back in association football. But it fell out of use by the end of the 1990s and early 2000s (last example was Greece 2004 with Otto Rehhagel - a German coach and that's no coincidence and Lothar Matthäus also played it in his last years at Bayern). The role now repurposed by SI in FM24 is a different thing and out of a back four, and that's how SI marketed it as well. So, it kind of is the John Stones role in FM24.
Intermediaries are a godsend. You can test the waters without players getting upset and the ~5% really makes no matter, considering you get a good price out of it. I am obsessed with revamping my team every season, so I will usually buy 10-15 players and sell 10-15 players every summer window.
I'm not at a big club so intermediarries are useless. I haven't managed to sell a single player with one. Also targets don't work because players don't care.
@@mattjames6349 In my journeyman save I started using intermediaries once I reached the 2. German League. The point of targets is that it gives you an excuse. Another feature Ive never encountered before is a player missing training on purpose several times cause hes mad and then getting kicked to the young squad according to code of conduct. Idk if its new.
The latest version Ive played is FM22. The main things I disliked are the way the best runs never end in a goal. I can always tell if the player wont score. Its always when he dribbles by a few players. He never scores. Its annoying & predictable. Also a lot of the best goals are ruled offside !! Those 2 things are so joyless. I wish players dribbled by 3/4 players and rifled it in to the top corner. And I wish great goals werent ruled off. Just make the crappy goals be the offside ones!! Another thing I dislike is the lack of highlights in the last 5/10mins. Lack of late goals, late chances. 90% of the time if the team Im playing scores an equalizer/takes the lead with 10mins to go then thats the very last highlight. Even if I go gung ho and play 5/6 up front. No more highlights, I dont even concede. I want more late action(giggity). In real football lots of the action happens in the last ten mins/extra time. Especially when clubs desperately need a goal. Hopefully those things have changed a bit since FM22. Glad the transfers have. Selling players was annoying
I am still struggling to setup a "backup team" for my team. I hire the "rotational" players but they are still unhappy with the sub status and want to start more... Which is annoying.
One trick is to transfer list the players, then un-list them and reset their squad status that way. If you have the skills (your avatar with high discipline skill), you can simply do the change and tell the upset player that their is competition for their spot (they might not always buy it tho). But yeah it is hard to balance finding quality backups that are willing to be backups and not just having your u21 team be your backups.

His market value is 15m, so i don't see how that could be a bad deal EVER. Does someone know what I can do?
