I feel like not enough people talk about Vegetas sincere "sorry" to Gohan. It's pretty touching for the proud Saiyan prince to apologise to his rival's son
100% disagree about Vegeta liking Gohan. Everything Cell in TFS said to Gohan would DEFINITELY apply to Vegeta's feelings about him as well, if not more so. If Vegeta legitimately thought about it he'd be furious that Gohan has so much clearly untapped power and potential and just wastes it, he'd take that as a direct insult to his Saiyan heritage. While Vegeta is far away from the man he was in the Saiyan and Freeza saga, he's still a warrior that values strength above all things and if Gohan were a pureblooded saiyan I am certain he would have been treated with the same amount of contempt that he had for Raditz.
This episode hits harder now. Goku's ending speech, Cell's final moment and Android 16 last picture in heaven represents a new meaning for me. RIP Akira Toriyama

The voice actor for Vegeta deserves a fucking award for this performance. The pure anguish and desperate grief in his voice when he realizes that Cell killed his son... and the "I'm...sorry..." It sits with me every day. This was nothing short of a fucking MasterPiece.
Yeah, lani is great. I'm always surprised by his range as he plays vegeta, piccolo, krillin, roshi, and in HFIL I think he voices raditz again. If you watch the creators commentary on fourstarbento, you'll hear him to do the voices like it's nothing.

I think Goku's speech at the end is a wonderful way to remember Toriyama. In his journey as a mangaka, he has inspired so many creators, both old and new to tell the stories they wanted to tell and have gone on to create so many genuine pieces, One Piece, Naruto, even TFS, and more. If his legacy inspired such a great future for others, to find and explore the things they love and create their own stories, then that's the greatest gift anyone could ask for. Thank you, Toriyama, you left behind one hell of a legacy.

I think what hits me the hardest about this episode is honestly Vegeta apologizing. That hits so hard knowing he has never in his life apologized for any mistake or misstep, no matter how terrible it was. He apologized because this mistake wasn't one to protect his pride, but in the name of love, and Vegeta truly thinks himself foolish for dooming them all because he couldn't control his heart, much like Goku. I think this moment is truly when Vegeta changes from the selfish warrior to the protective guardian and father.
"MY BABY BOY!" To this day, even almost 3 years later, I don't know if I've ever heard a single line that was so hilarious, amazing, heartwarming, and heart-breaking all at the same time.
"But you've been a part of our lives for so long. It can't just... end like this, right?" It's our turn to dominate. Thank you Akira Toriyama. May you rest in peace.
@@everyonesfavorite7560 oh my god, my heart. I get it, they've probably burnt out on making the series. But it's a little unfair that they only announced a year after they promised the Buu saga. I mean, just think of the supporters on patreon who have donated expecting it to help with the making of the abridged saga only to be let down after a full year. But then again (playing devil's advocate) if their passion just isn't there then it's possible they're just trying to avoid rushing to complete the series and it ending up being totally stale and possibly ruining the DBZA series all together. But that's just my thinking.
I just came back to this after hearing about Mr. Toriyama's recent passing. Just sitting here on the edge of my bed, thinking about it all, holding the Four Star Dragon Ball in my hand (The one that started it all and a piece from a resin set a friend got for me last Christmas). Dragon Ball really means something to me. I was first introduced to the show when the Bardock Special came on the TV on... I dunno, it must have been 4Kids TV. But it peaked my interest. I didn't really get into the show much later during middle school, when a friend of mine shared his passion for the show. After that I found a site where I could watch the show and immediately fell in love with it. More recently I watched through DBZ, DB GT, and DB Super, and it only increased my love for the show and it's characters. Before all that, though, TeamFourStar is the one thing that realy got me to truly fall in love with and revisit the show. Dragon Ball is one of the many shows that has shaped me as a person and as an artist, and I truly cherish every moment I had with the show. Every moment laughing at TFS's antics and jokes, their running gags and passion for their project. Every playground moment where me and my friends would oretend to power up, go Super Saiyan, mock-fire off our favorite attacks and scream to the heavens trying to beat the most legendary screams in the show. It was magic for us. It was real. It was inspiring. The persistence and never-give-up attitude Goku and his firends held in the most dire of situations is something that always inspired me to keep on going even in my darkest moments, and now... Now... I remember all of that. I cherish every silly little moment as a kid, and every scen in the show and from TFS that made me laugh, gave me hope, and had me on the edge of my seat no matter how many times I rewatched it. Now I sit here with the Four Star Dragon Ball in my hand, just thinking about the loss that we as the Dragon Ball community have been dealt, and I just wanna say... Thank you, Mr. Toriyama. Thank you for inspiring me through the years. For giving me hope and courage that no matter how hard things get, I can hold my head high and power through knowing that I AM STRONG ENOUGH to make it through my darkest moments. That though I may not be super human, or Super Saiyan, that I can do this. That I have what it takes. And thank you, TeamFourStar... For helping me fall in love with the show all over again and find that inspiration and courage that I really needed in a really rough time in my life. Rest in peace, Mr. Toriyama. You may be gone, and you will be missed, but your legacy will live on in all you've left behind... ...and in all of our hearts.
In episode 20, Gohan saves Vegeta's life from a deadly beam, but gets scolded for it because he could've used that moment to attack Reccoome. In episode 27, Vegeta saves Gohan's life from a deadly beam instead of using the moment to attack Freeza, which kinda proves that Vegeta doesn't believe his own words. Of course, Vegeta would never acknowledge it to Gohan. In episode 60, Gohan saves Vegeta''s life from a deadly beam, but this time Gohan is the one to scold himself, believing he should have just left Vegeta to die for his own mistake. This was all probably unintentional, but I love this hidden perspective: Gohan tries to save a person's life but gets immediately shut down for it. Little by little, Gohan starts to see death as inconsequential while Vegeta starts to change his mind about saving the people you love, like Trunks. Vegeta then gets saved for the last time and gets flabbergasted hearing Gohan repeat his own words. "I should've just let you bite it!" If you look at it this way, than Vegeta's apology was really for turning a gentle kid like Gohan into a callous pragmatist. I love that so much.
Kinda nice that to cap it off, Gohan was able to win because Vegeta helped, proving Gohan's original perspective that it was worth taking the opportunity to save someone instead of attack
*Epic foreshadowing* “You’ve been a part of our lives for so long, it can’t just end like this, right?” “I know it’s hard guys, but I think it’s for the best and this doesn’t have to be goodbye forever. Maybe one day, when the time is right, I’ll come back to see you again but it is goodbye. For now at least.” I’m not crying, you’re crying. RIP DBZA
I Introduced my Mom to this show (She loved it, many belly laughs), and once my little brother gets older, I will watch this with him too. I will also tell my (older) little sister about this.
That line right there reminds me SO much of a friend of mine. The way he said that. Everything about Vegeta in DBZA reminds me of that friend. But some things super do. Like the way he says "I have a fucking hole in my chest. Why didn't you block that one?" or the way he said "fucking better" Just 100% my friend Ty.
I truly enjoy that as Trunks is dying, Yamcha and Krillin are having the most uncomfortable conversation of how if feels to die only to end with "Its actually worse the second time you die"
Vegeta went through all 6 stages of grief in like 20 seconds. Denial that Trunks is somehow dead. Anger that Cell killed him. Bargaining that maybe a senzu could help. Despair when that didn't pan out. Acceptance that, yes, that is the dead body of his son, and yes, he was his son. And the Vegeta Exclusive sixth stage of grief: Anger 2.0. Although that may just be him going back to his default emotion.
3 times in the series where Vegeta showed humility. - With Krillin after getting absolutely wrecked by Cell - This moment. - His final scene with Piccolo concerning the revival of his baby boy.
It's really one of the most powerful scenes. Vegeta, for once, showed true concern for another being. The voice actor did fantastic work; it gives me chills.
Ya know vegeta actually is kind and caring about others in dbs beerus slapped bulma and vegeta kicked the LIVING SHIT outta him so yeah obviously he would kill cell for trunks
Oh man when they "get" to Beerus. I can imagine how it'd play out because that's how amazing tfs is. There are even tidbits so it isn't 100% left to the imagination. I'm a bit glad they didn't let themselves burnout because I'm not watching GT/Super Abridged (Skip majin buu arc?) and Super Dragon Ball Heroes at the same time.

"You could have wished for a billion zeni, or a nose! But instead you used a magical wish granting dragon...for us." "It just...made sense." I love how these two lines perfectly reflect their thoughts and personalities. 18 goes from angry to calm as she realizes that Krillin wasted a wish, but he did it for her and 17. It's the soft spoken realization that someone did something selfless for her when she's been a lab rat her whole life. And Krillin's line of it "making sense" is so direct and blunt, almost innocent, because helping people in need for no reason other than to help is what he's always done. He couldn't fathom not helping people in need at this point in his life, so it just "makes sense" for him.
I've just realised now that 'sense' is in 'cents' (money), and the fact that the nose is in charge of one of the 5 senses. I've watched this episode like 10 times.

That reminds me of a tfs gaming thing they did in xenoverse 2. As a joke they were talking about future gohan's move One Handed Kamehameha Mark 2, and Kirran said, "As he says mark 2 he just slowly lifts up his second hand."

Man, seriously! It's both funny and yet perfectly fits the way their father-son relationship developed in Abridged. It's the little touches like that alongside the epic details that make Abridged so freakin' amazing!
The beautiful thing about this is that DBZA really achieved the balance that Dragon Ball should have in it. It's funny and goofy, but also dramatic and touching; it really hits both halves of what Dragon Ball is as a whole and blends them together so well in all the right spots. This series really, truly is a love letter to what Akira Toriyama created.
It's funny, I know a lot of people hate or knock Db Super, but that's how I feel about that, that it encapsulates a perfect mix of the playful humor of Db and the high power stakes of Dbz.
Came here to pay my respects for both the end of TFS and to the untimely passing of the one who made our childhoods so memorable and meaningful for generations to come. Thank you Team Four Star and thank you Akira Toriyama for everything you’ve done for us. Until We Meet Again 🕊️

Absolutely beautiful. The Vegeta-Trunks dynamic, Gohan dealing with his hating fighting, Krillin-18, And Cell’s whole character. The Cell saga was, dare I say... Perfect.
Hearing Vegeta say "I'm Sorry" was the most unexpected but also most powerful line in the episode for me. It sounded so vulnerable, handled his growth better in that moment than the actual source material

Vegeta's moment really did it for me. It wasn't only funny. It was powerful. It was genuinely emotional and extremely well done. It captured how he felt in the original series and his position of power compared to Gohan while also being a parody. This season finale was stunning. Thank you all so much!

I mean, just think of the supporters on patreon who have donated expecting it to help with the making of the abridged saga only to be let down after a full year. But then again (playing devil's advocate) if their passion just isn't there then it's possible they're just trying to avoid rushing to complete the series and it ending up being totally stale and possibly ruining the DBZA series all together. But that's just my thinking.

I just came back to this after hearing about Mr. Toriyama's recent passing. Just sitting here on the edge of my bed, thinking about it all, holding the Four Star Dragon Ball in my hand (The one that started it all and a piece from a resin set a friend got for me last Christmas).
Dragon Ball really means something to me. I was first introduced to the show when the Bardock Special came on the TV on... I dunno, it must have been 4Kids TV. But it peaked my interest. I didn't really get into the show much later during middle school, when a friend of mine shared his passion for the show. After that I found a site where I could watch the show and immediately fell in love with it. More recently I watched through DBZ, DB GT, and DB Super, and it only increased my love for the show and it's characters.
Before all that, though, TeamFourStar is the one thing that realy got me to truly fall in love with and revisit the show.
Dragon Ball is one of the many shows that has shaped me as a person and as an artist, and I truly cherish every moment I had with the show.
Every moment laughing at TFS's antics and jokes, their running gags and passion for their project.
Every playground moment where me and my friends would oretend to power up, go Super Saiyan, mock-fire off our favorite attacks and scream to the heavens trying to beat the most legendary screams in the show. It was magic for us. It was real. It was inspiring.
The persistence and never-give-up attitude Goku and his firends held in the most dire of situations is something that always inspired me to keep on going even in my darkest moments, and now...
Now...
I remember all of that. I cherish every silly little moment as a kid, and every scen in the show and from TFS that made me laugh, gave me hope, and had me on the edge of my seat no matter how many times I rewatched it.
Now I sit here with the Four Star Dragon Ball in my hand, just thinking about the loss that we as the Dragon Ball community have been dealt, and I just wanna say...
Thank you, Mr. Toriyama. Thank you for inspiring me through the years. For giving me hope and courage that no matter how hard things get, I can hold my head high and power through knowing that I AM STRONG ENOUGH to make it through my darkest moments. That though I may not be super human, or Super Saiyan, that I can do this. That I have what it takes.
And thank you, TeamFourStar... For helping me fall in love with the show all over again and find that inspiration and courage that I really needed in a really rough time in my life.
Rest in peace, Mr. Toriyama. You may be gone, and you will be missed, but your legacy will live on in all you've left behind...

In episode 20, Gohan saves Vegeta's life from a deadly beam, but gets scolded for it because he could've used that moment to attack Reccoome.
In episode 27, Vegeta saves Gohan's life from a deadly beam instead of using the moment to attack Freeza, which kinda proves that Vegeta doesn't believe his own words. Of course, Vegeta would never acknowledge it to Gohan.
In episode 60, Gohan saves Vegeta''s life from a deadly beam, but this time Gohan is the one to scold himself, believing he should have just left Vegeta to die for his own mistake.
This was all probably unintentional, but I love this hidden perspective: Gohan tries to save a person's life but gets immediately shut down for it. Little by little, Gohan starts to see death as inconsequential while Vegeta starts to change his mind about saving the people you love, like Trunks. Vegeta then gets saved for the last time and gets flabbergasted hearing Gohan repeat his own words. "I should've just let you bite it!"
If you look at it this way, than Vegeta's apology was really for turning a gentle kid like Gohan into a callous pragmatist. I love that so much.

I love how these two lines perfectly reflect their thoughts and personalities. 18 goes from angry to calm as she realizes that Krillin wasted a wish, but he did it for her and 17. It's the soft spoken realization that someone did something selfless for her when she's been a lab rat her whole life. And Krillin's line of it "making sense" is so direct and blunt, almost innocent, because helping people in need for no reason other than to help is what he's always done. He couldn't fathom not helping people in need at this point in his life, so it just "makes sense" for him.

Man, seriously! It's both funny and yet perfectly fits the way their father-son relationship developed in Abridged. It's the little touches like that alongside the epic details that make Abridged so freakin' amazing!
The beautiful thing about this is that DBZA really achieved the balance that Dragon Ball should have in it. It's funny and goofy, but also dramatic and touching; it really hits both halves of what Dragon Ball is as a whole and blends them together so well in all the right spots. This series really, truly is a love letter to what Akira Toriyama created.
It's funny, I know a lot of people hate or knock Db Super, but that's how I feel about that, that it encapsulates a perfect mix of the playful humor of Db and the high power stakes of Dbz.

Came here to pay my respects for both the end of TFS and to the untimely passing of the one who made our childhoods so memorable and meaningful for generations to come.

Goku calling from Heaven in this episode really hit different since Akira Toriyama passed.
Hearing Vegeta say "I'm Sorry" was the most unexpected but also most powerful line in the episode for me. It sounded so vulnerable, handled his growth better in that moment than the actual source material
Yeah, not that far off from the original. This is the point where Vegeta stops being a total asshole and starts to care for people for a change.

Vegeta's moment really did it for me. It wasn't only funny. It was powerful. It was genuinely emotional and extremely well done. It captured how he felt in the original series and his position of power compared to Gohan while also being a parody. This season finale was stunning. Thank you all so much!

Also it’s another callback joke, since he parroted the line King Cold said when his son was killed by Trunks, which is a beautiful touch.
