Kinda crazy how well Team Four star did 10+ years ago with this abridged series idk why but it feels so ahead of it's time in certain ways. Sad to see them gone but they did devlier a fuck ton of content tbh.
They truly were ahead of their time tbh I also remember watching this shit when I was like in 6th or 7th grade it was awesome sadly they stopped at the cell tournament arc as they thought the buu arc wasn't as good quality enough to parody, which I kidnapped agree on as dragon ball z was truly meant to end at the cell tournament arc instead of the buu arc so the quality of the dotey was rushed

The Abridged VAs actually made a cameo in the funimation Kai dub but toei found out and the episode only aired once and blacklisted TFS from ever working with funimation again and toei threatened to not let funimation make more dubs. So yea toei kind of left a sour taste in their mouths for working on Dragonball stuff

It’s likely they’re still within the atmosphere just enough that the air is very thin, but still there, thus they are able to breathe.

It is a dig at the old funi dub before they did the bardock special. During the frieza saga flashbacks of this scene they had no clue what was this about and put the dialogue in such a way that it looked like all those men were bardock's. The jp version chronologically did the special first whereas funi dubbed the special afterwards so they had no clue xD

If this had come out in 2016, the scene of Goku and Frieza fighting together against Jiren would have been perfect in Bardock's final premonition

Freeza is _really_ good with numbers. He knows how many times he's heard different heroic speeches, and he knows which planet is which based off of the number (and seemingly at random, not in order of how many he has taken)
And yet he doesn't know the length of time of a minute...
Anybody notice frieza names the planet of kanassans ,419 so the next planet will be 420.
I wonder if he started the list at 0 right there or if he added all the lines he could remember from his past, cause if not, he has heard the line "We are the ones who will stop you" 419 times since Goku was born. If that's the case, he really wasn't exaggerating about how often he hears those speeches, or some dude said it like a 100 times in a single speech.

In TFS episode 17 (made before this TFS special), Appule is playing Budokai Tenkaichi 3 as himself fighting Bardock, saying "Take that you bastard! This one's for Eachpe!", and says "Here I come, Eachpe", right before Vegeta kills him.
I find it hilarious and awesome how TeamFourStar tied in what Appule was talking about to this special in kind of a subtle way.

So, I saw the original in theaters, along with fusion reborn, and the part where dodoria showed up behind bardock, a dude in my theater yelled what everyone was thinking.

Edit: alright let me give some clarification. Back in November of 2018, select theaters were screening bardock the father of goku and fusion reborn back to back as a promo for the broly movie. This was during that special screening

Maxwell Berger it's a reference to what vegeta said in abridged. When vegeta was running away from frieza and piccolos fight, Kanassa or planet 419 is the planet vegeta referred to going to. They just played with the idea

Supposedly Raditz is weaker than the traditional Saiyan because he is a coward and flees from battles he's outmatched in, thus depriving him of the zenkai boost.

Raditz is weaker than the average Saiyan because he spent no time on planet Vegeta with its 10x gravity and relied on the Oozaru form for most of his fights on other planets. Raditz being a coward was an explanation made up later.

Well the Ocean dub did that kinda voice first, Funi were just copying those voices to try to keep it consistent.
