I looked it up to find it, hear about it being canceled, but now I'm seeing something about an official release? What the release, and is it being done by TFS? Or did the get a cease and desist and the official release is the DBZ team just releasing new stuff???

I love the distinct difference between Abridged 17 and Canon 17. When Trunks kills 18, in the canon 17 is beyond furious and enraged, in Abridged, 17 is astounded and in shock. I just love how different the characters are when they're the same person.
Not to mention the difference between Abridged 17 and Abridged 18. When 18 saw her brother get devoured by Cell, she was furious and enraged and demanded her brother back.

Bro this is the best rewatch ride I've ever been on I'm going to miss this.
No kidding; I just finished a rewatch myself. Really takes me back. The crazy part? During the original run, I fell off before the last few episodes (because of the understandably messed up release schedule), so I never got to see the end until tonight. Damn this was a fun fuckin' ride.
Take a moment to appreciate the fact that DBZA ended with "in for a penny, in for a pounding" and Trunks' external scream.

Watching this again, I think my favorite part might be Trunks just talking to his mum about the whole thing. I’m super glad they included that conversation.
I like that the Imperfect Cell from the original timeline and the Cell from the future timeline are complete opposites. This Cell is new to the whole ambush thing while the old Cell plays his cards really well. Future Cell finds innuendos kinda disturbing (“That came out wrong.) while old Cell loves to creep people out with them. Future Cell knows almost nothing and thus ends on an imperfect note while; old Cell ends on a perfect note and has a ton of experience. Good on TFS for being so subtle and clever about their characters! 🎉
It's not that he found the innuendo disturbing, but rather that he accidentally painted himself in a submissive light.

That's the best thing, that Trunks came to the past as a quiet, polite kid meeting his heroes, and went back to the future with a heaping helping of sass while flipping off his father.

Because the full blooded Saiyans only have a heart and desire for fighting, which is why every single full blooded Saiyan waited for their opponent to have a fighting chance by transformation, fusion, etc, as for the halflings they have some human in them so they had the ability to double think their decisions before combat, callback to Vegeta saying that all half human half Saiyan hybrids will be dangerously stronger than full blooded Saiyans
@@kiddrhino The only problem with Half Saiyan is that they aren't as dedicated to training and fighting as pure blood Saiyans.
Gohan completely abandons the fighting lifestyle and did some part-time small villain fight which weakened him...
Goten and Trunks...
They have potential since they often train for fun as kids but they most likely will just end up like Gohan since the creators only want to focus on Goku.
So yeah, while they have stupidly high potential to surpass the full blood Saiyans.
Their fickle human minds make them lazy in their training, only in deadly situations do they actually try their best.
(For example the Buu saga, which definitely confirmed that Gohan was dead as a main character)

since it was a 3 year timeskip cell was already around in larvae form
@@leobastian_ he probably was already fully grown after getting outta the lab, and I'm guessing gero was still alive in this timeline aswell so maybe he sped up the process or kept moving locations with larvae cell.
But he was most likely fully grown already before trunks got the opportunity to look for him cuz gero probs got killed by 17 & 18 the moment they got activated

I love how Trunks subtly matures and grows in the abridged version. From his optimistic naïvety to a more jaded down to business attitude. He learned from Goku, Gohan and Vegeta, or better said from watching them make mistakes. At the beginning of his journey, he constantly tended towards heroic speeches and appearances, where as now he is much more focused on getting the job done right away. I also love that he's more sassy and has slightly more attitude after dying once. And all that feels like a seamless and natural progression of his character, with none of it feeling forced.

I think this is why DBZA and SAOA have stood the test of time where YGOA sort of falters in comparison. They have actual stories and character development beyond just mocking the source material. They made it a truly unique experience. I've seen comments declaring DBZA the best dub of these arcs available and I think that's VERY apt. It's a parody, sure, but especially in the end it evolves into more of a hilarious cover.
