I have always used cornstarch to make my gravy because I find that making a roux is a pain in the neck. Easy to do with any type of broth. Adding salt or "washyoursister" sauce may not be needed, depends on your own taste buds.
Home made gravy: 2 cups beef broth 1/2 ts garlic powder 1/2 ts each salt and pepper 3 Ts corn starch dissolved in 1/2 cup cold water, pour into boiling beef broth stir , stir , stir, oh and 2Ts woostersheer sauce, and presto!

Why not use a roux?
