    Terrific use of space. It is not only functional,(office, craft room, workshop, laundry, storage). It is lovely and inviting. Seems to me a perfect “she shed”.

    What I love most about your space is how functional and real it is. Even the zones that are pinterest worthy in appearance like your office. I appreciate how you used what you have as well: the wrapping paper, the food containers. Standing ovation!

    I absolutely loved this series! So many of the make over craft space/room tours are unrealistic for the the average person, but this was real organizing with a real life situation and it was wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing. You are delightful.

    Oh Norrine!! You and I think alike! I had mentioned before that I had an organizing company as well. Use what you have!!!!! A suggestion for your fans: At the end of summer, I clean all the fans then cover them with large garbage bags to keep dust and dirt off while in storage! Then comes the first hot day again and they are ready for use!

    You are so amazing and clever with organizing on a budget in a limited space. I watch your videos and love them❣️ I’m also on a really limited budget and recently got furloughed from my part time job. I’m 70 years old and love to craft. I’m not really upset about about not working because now I have more time to spend doing what I love crafting. My craft room is what used to be my youngest sons room. It’s about 10x10 which is quit small, but I feel lucky that I have this space. I’ve tried through the years to organize it and reorganize it and I can’t seem to get it functional for me to use. It’s always a mess , it frustrates me to go in there. I’m taking this time that we’re in lock down and try to organize it again. I wish I could have you come and help me but the next thing is to watch you . I buy containers to use and feel like wasted money because they don’t quit work. I’m determined to make what I have work like you have on this video, I sit and rack my brain how to make things work , I wish I was as clever and creative as you. 👍💖 I’m going to keep trying

    So I need to clean out my garage. The good news for me is that we park our cars in it. Not as much stuff but there is stuff. I like your comment about doing it in sections. My sections would be my side and his side.😁 Seriously though I do this in the basement when I clean it. I use the floor to define the sections. Concrete floors have expansion seams and makes it very easy to define the space to clean. I just never thought to do it in the garage. Thanks for helping me connect the dots and tomorrow is garage cleaning day.😄

    I loved this series! I think most people have to tackle projects like this on a budget. You were creative and resourceful. There were so many take always. The biggest one is decorating small areas like the laundry area and the shelf above the big cabinet. This series reminded me that spaces function best when they are defined. I have similar items in garage and basement storage room. I plan to tackle those area while I’m home.

    Norrine, yup, I watched the entire garage project in one evening 🎉. IT WAS SO INTERESTING. I LOVED IT! Your professional organizing skills were so evident when you started showing us the insides of all the cabinets. That architect’s cabinet is quite a miracle. I liked the labels on the outside of drawers too, smart. Your view from your recording desk is so pleasant, like a secret garden/patio. I did have a worry though...last year, with all the rain, your garage flooded. Do you have sandbags ready to be placed in front of the garage door, just in case there’s another emergency? I would hate to see all your hard work ruined. CONGRATS ON USING YOUR SHELTER IN PLACE WISELY. YOU ARE FABULOUS! 🥳🥳🥳

    • @TheCraftyOrganizer
      @TheCraftyOrganizer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah..... my garage. I have done a few things, construction wise, to prevent future flooding. So far (knock on wood) I've not had any issues in over a year. We are having VERY heavy rains right now - so far, so good. I also put almost everything on 2x4's to raise it..... just in case. So sweet of you to even worry about that for me! I am so glad you liked the series. Hope to see you in the comments often. xoxox

    I can't even put into words how much I love this!! You have clearly defined your laundry, work, and storage areas in one flowing space. I think it worked out well that the wood under and around your work table closely matches, which makes that whole area very cohesive.
    I love that you remembered electrical outlets BEFORE you're about to start a project and can't get to one. At that point you may try to do something that may not be the safest alternative. Speaking from experience. 🤦😉
    I'd like to suggest that you cover the lower area where your chaise is with some type of make shift curtains and Velcro them to the board along there to cover your chaise and portable A/C from sawdust. When you cut wood, the sawdust will go straight in that direction. Just an idea.
    Please make an update video when you do the backs of the bookshelves. I'd like to see how you creatively use that space.
    KUDOS, Norrine! You're a freaking Rockstar. You have definitely found your niche in life! 🙂🙂

    I too suggest you outline the big tools on the pegboard so you always know there place and its easy to put them back. also put clear jars on the underside of the shelf for screws , nuts bolts pins, tacks etc you either use a screw or hot glue the jar lids to the bottom of the shelf. when you want something just unscrew the jar.

    Great ideas, realistic, awesome..... love how you think outside the box. When you do a project & share, it shows that improvements can be made without spending a ton of money.
    Two other things, - 1) I want your 2 cabinets, the architect one & the scrap-booking one, oh my gosh, they are wonderful!!!
    2) Another video of your entire back yard. The quick glimpse of the area behind your house looked so good. I love yards that are "done on a dime" with up-cycled items and still look tasteful.

    Thank you for sharing this. It's amazing to see a lot of the stuff *I* have in YOUR garage! I envy your two car-garage! I have a single....with all your stuff and more! It always seems as if I'm waiting for one thing to happen before I can get to what needs to be done. Two years ago my son helped me do a lot of decluttering and reorganizing in the garage. It wasSO exciting! But, then it filled back up with his stuff...and stuff I've decluttered and put out there for a 'future' garage sale. Then his van broke down and has been stored in my driveway for a year. So, I can't have a garage sale. I feel like I don't have room to 'take out' all the 'stuff that has accumulated in there now to sort and organize. But...he's going to get the van repaired soon...which he's been making VERY incremental progress toward for several months. Always seem to be waiting... SOMEday 'soon' I'm going to be able to 'get at it' and try to get mine as cute as yours!

    • @TheCraftyOrganizer
      @TheCraftyOrganizer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have fallen into the 'garage sale later' trap too!!!! The one time I did it - it was SO MUCH dang work - and we barely made $100 when it was all done. Yes, $100 is wonderful! However, the multiple days and weeks of storing, pricing, cleaning, setting up, taking down, and still having things to donate.... NOPE. Your "someday soon" is right around the corner!!!! We are going to get this done!!!

    cup hooks under wood shelf for the scissors or other frequently used items? then u have room on pegboard for more stuff? also some ppl outline the pegboard with the item that is hanging there?....(maybe u can do chalkpaint or just write on the black paint with chalk)? then u know what is missing.

    I believe pegboard comes with different sized holes. It sounds like you got a mis-match of pegboard and hooks. We have pegboard in our shop, and the pegs fit snugly into the holes. You have to work at them a little to remove the hooks.
    If you have something heavy you need to lift, an automobile jack comes in handy. Just be sure it's the scissor type with a flat plate on top, and not the little mini-hydraulic type with only about a 2" round button for the top. You do need to be careful with centering and balance, but if you're trying to hang on a wall, like your cabinet idea, you can set it up close to the wall and let the wall serve as a 'third hand' as you raise it into place. ;-) When my hubby and I had our handyman repair/remodel service, we used jacks all the time to support the weight of a garbage disposal while it was being installed.

    • @TheCraftyOrganizer

    Some peg board hooks come with a black plastic tab which fits over the hooks so that they don't pop out. There are other hooks which are made with a foot which fits into the pegboard so the hook doesn't fall off when removing a tool. I prefer the second kind but they are more expensive.

    Posted before I was done. With the peg board you can customize the space easier and take it down easier if you move.

    I love your finished project. It is amazing. The standard pegboard has 1/4 inch holes and the typical hooks are smaller. You can buy the larger hooks but they are more expensive. However Harbor Freight does have some at a reasonable price. I had the same issue that you have when you take something off the hook. I solved my problem by wrapping 1/4 inch masking tape around the bottom of the hook that goes into the hole making it larger so that it does not pull out.

    27 hours total on your own is actually quite amazing! You sound like me, I enjoy organizing so much that the process if fun, not a chore at all.
    I'm commenting as I'm watching and oh, my, gosh! I have been wanting a flat drawer drafting storage cabinet for ages for our woodwork shop. As for that clock, it's awesome. I have absolutely NO concept of time so it would be perfect for me. LOL

    I love the way it all turned out. Also there are plastic things called “peg locks” I had to google the name and saw Walmart has 25pack for abt $6. I purchased 100’s of speciality peg hooks from a hardware store going out if business years ago and they never came out of peg board, but when I needed plain hooks it drove me mad that the plug part was small and came out every time, so I bought the plug locks. Hope that helps but the hot glue is just as good. Thanks for sharing your garage.

    I have a pegboard also. The tool holders are always falling out when iI grab a tool. I also have the case that I can't get the little bracket to fit in the hole. I've hammered some in. I think it is just the way they are made.

    Amazing job. Gave me ideas for my garage. I live Philadelphia. So I experience extremes in weather. My garage is si gle car size. It will be just a work area, garden storage and vintage toy storage. I am in process of slowly emptying it. I am a senior so not ad strong as my younger days.

    Pegitz pegboard locks (Amazon) are cheap and work great to keep your pegs in place!

    They make small plastic clips that are meant to hold the hooks in place on the pegboard.

    I wish I had a garage. Right now my craft area is in my bedroom. I live in a senior bldg and the apt is small. I have a big closet where I store craft items and one big wall with the rest. I have plenty of storage bins but I can’t find anything. I will have to really look at my space and redo everything. Sounds daunting but I’ll get it done. You have such a beautiful work space!
